Efficacy of Different Fungicides against Mango Anthracnose in Senegalese Soudanian Agroclimate

Anthracnose is the one of the most devastating diseases of mango produced in the southern part of Senegal. The field trials against post harvest rot due to anthracnose took place in three orchards over two production seasons, in 2009 and 2010. Three systemic fungicides (thiophanate methyl, azoxystrobin and myclobutanyl) and one contact fungicide (mancozeb) were tested for their efficacy. The first treatments in 2009 took place in the rainy season, while 20% of mangoes on trees exhibited anthracnose lesions. At ripening stage, 100% of fruits from non treated control mango trees were affected by anthracnose and got rotten, while between 73.2% and 80% of mangoes ripened free of disease when treated with thiophanate methyl. With the treatment with azoxystrobin, between 46.6% and 60% of fruits were not infected. Treatment with myclobutanyl was less effective. This level of effectiveness was clearly improved in 2010 by preventive spraying, days ahead of onset of the rainy season, before the appearance of anthracnose symptoms on fruits. The level of effectiveness was higher respectively for thiophanate methyl (between 96% and 100% of fruits not infected) and azoxystrobin (between 84% and 96% of fruits not infected).

Vanadium nitride （VN） was deposited by DC-sputtering on a vertically aligned carbon nanotube （CNTs） template for the purpose of nano-structuration. This led to the fabrication of hierarchically composite electrodes consisting of porous and nanostructured VN grown on vertically aligned CNTs in a nano-treelike configuration for micro-supercapacitor application. The electrodes show excellent performance with an areal capacitance as high as 37.5 mF cm^-2 at a scan rate of 2 mV s^-1 in a 0.5 M K2504 mild electrolyte solution. Furthermore, the capacitance decay was only 15% after 20,000 consecutive cycles. Moreover, the capacitance was found to increase with VN deposit thickness. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses of the electrodes before and after cycling suggest that the oxide layers that form at the VN surface is the responsible for the redox energy storage in this material. Such electrodes can compete with other transition metal nitride based electrodes for micro-supercapacitors.

The amount of data that is traveling across the internet today, including very large and complex set of raw facts that are not only large, but also, complex, noisy, heterogeneous, and longitudinal data as well. Companies, institutions, healthcare system, mobile application capturing devices and sensors, traffic management, banking, retail, education etc., use piles of data which are further used for creating reports in order to ensure continuity regarding the services that they have to offer. Recently, Big data is one of the most important topics in IT industry. Managing Big data needs new techniques because traditional security and privacy mechanisms are inadequate and unable to manage complex distributed computing for different types of data. New types of data have different and new challenges also. A lot of researches treat with big data challenges starting from Doug Laney’s landmark paper, during the previous two decades;the big challenge is how to operate a huge volume of data that has to be securely delivered through the internet and reach its destination intact. The present paper highlights important concepts of Fifty-six Big Data V’s characteristics. This paper also highlights the security and privacy Challenges that Big Data faces and solving this problem by proposed technological solutions that help us avoiding these challenging problems.

Data Migration is a multi-step process that begins with analyzing old data and culminates in data uploading and reconciliation in new applications. With the rapid growth of data, organizations constantly need to migrate data. Data migration can be a complex process as testing must be done to ensure data quality. Migration also can be very costly if best practices are not followed and hidden costs are not identified in the early stage. On the other hand, many organizations today instead of buying IT equipment (hardware and/or software) and managing it themselves, they prefer to buy services from IT service providers. The number of service providers is increasing dramatically and the cloud is becoming the preferred tool for more cloud storage services. However, as more information and personal data are transferred to the cloud, to social media sites, DropBox, Baidu WangPan, etc., data security and privacy issues are questioned. So, academia and industry circles strive to find an effective way to secure data migration in the cloud. Various resolving methods and encryption techniques have been implemented. The Influence of Fertilizers on Groundwater Quality in Gaza Strip—Free Settlements on Khan Younis—Case Study

The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture started the agricultural investment in some free settlements in Gaza strip since 2008. The proposed areas to be planted and the proposed crops were chosen randomly without any researches to study the expected adverse impacts of these agricultural projects on the environmental components. This research aimed at the groundwater aquifer in the proposed region physically and chemically by taking five water samples from water wells in the place. Represented groundwater samples taken from observation wells in the study area were tested in term of total dissolved solids (TDS), electric conductivity (EC), and (N-P-K) concentrations to be compared with the regulated groundwater standards. As a result of testing two fertilizers, it is found that the announced concentrations of (N-P-K) don’t match the real results. The real results are less than the announced concentrations, especially for the phosphorus concentration which had a real result about half of the announced concentration for both fertilizers. Although the real concentrations of (N-P-K) in the used fertilizers are less the announced concentrations, slightly pollution is found in the groundwater aquifer. The groundwater testing results in five observation wells showed that the groundwater tends to be basic, high salinity ranged between 550 and 3500 μS/cm, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) results ranged between 330 and 2300. Nitrate results ranged between 65 and 160 ppm, whereas phosphorus and potassium results showed that all groundwater samples met the standards and didn’t exceed them.

The morphology and growth kinetics of the discontinuous precipitate in a deformed and undeformed Ni-7.5at.%In alloy have been investigated at temperatures ranging from 667?K to?1030?K using light and scanning microscopy. Also, the dependence of the growth rate on some diffusion parameters was experimentally and theoretically studied. The investigation is observed that at all aging temperatures the alloy was observed to decompose completely by discontinuous precipitation into a fine lamellar structure of nickel-rich solid solution and?β?(Ni3In) precipitate phase. The precipitation rate depends strongly on the degree of deformation, this dependence being identical for each of the aging temperatures under investigation. Analysis of the growth rates, lamellar spacing and phase compositions for the discontinuous precipitation reaction showed that they were controlled by grain boundary diffusion. Moreover, a generally applicable procedure for calculating the driving force is presented. The driving forces, calculated in this way, should be more reliable than those calculated with the approximations based on Peterman and Hornbogen laws.

The aim of this article is to predict the rainfall evolution of a sub-Saharan area in which one of the most important freshwater resources is located: Lake Guiers. Characterized by short seasonal rains of three months, it experienced a long period of drought in the 1970s. We begin by analyzing the temporal distribution of the rainfall including the variability of the data, with a view to predicting a possible return. For this reason, we present here univariate modeling results of rainfall series collected on three stations in the area. The challenge lies in the adequacy of the parameters for the monthly rainfall series, which generates more or less significant forecast errors on the learning bases because of the missing data. This later motivated their conversion to moving average series. On the other hand, the normality of the latter seems to be rejected by the D’Agostino test. Student’s and Mann-Whitney’s tests confirmed the homogeneity. The autocorlograms show the presence of autoregressive terms in the data. Dickey-Fuller and Mann-Kendall tests reveal both trend and seasonality. The stationarity tests of Dickey-Fuller, Phillips-Perron and KPSS have shown that they are non-stationary. As a result, we did an ARIMA modeling method using the Box-Jenkins [1] method with the R software, which involves estimating model parameters, tests of significance, analysis of residualss, selection according to information criteria and forecasts. The results obtained during the learning-test phase showed a quasi-similarity of the base-tests in all the series except for that of Louga.

Optimizing Fertilizer Use by Smallholder Farmers and Economic Returns to Maize in Semi-arid Niger

Maize （Zea mays L.） is an important food crop in Niger, but low and irregular rainfall combined with sandy soils having low fertility level limit productivity. A two-year study was conducted at Institut National de Recherche Agronomique du Niger （INRAN） stations in Tarna/Maradi and Bengou/Gaya in 2014 and 2015 in order to evaluate maize agronomic and economic fertilizer use efficiency. The experimental design was a randomised complete block design （RCBD） with three replications. Results indicate higher effect of fertilizer in 2015 compared to 2014. At low N rates 20 kg N/ha and 40 kg N/ha, application of 20 kg P/ha increased maize grain yield across locations and years. The highest agronomic efficiency of N （AEN） was recorded with 60 kg N/ha in 2015 at Bengou and Tarna with 9.65 kg and 14.05 kg grain yield per kg of applied N, respectively. At Tarna, the low N rates of 20 kg N/ha and 40 kg N/ha recorded important AEN of more than 12 kg yield increases per kg of applied N. The highest rainfall use efficiency （RUE） of 6.13 kg/year/mm was obtained with application of 80 kg/ha N, 0 kg/ha P and 40 kg/ha N, 20 kg/ha P in 2015 at Tarna. Without P, the highest value cost ratio （VCR） value of 4.31 was recorded at Tarna in 2015 with 60 kg/ha N, and the lowest value of 0.08 at Bengou in 2014 with 20 kg/ha N. Based on VCR and RUE derived from this study, the optimal fertilizer recommendation for maize in the semi-arid conditions of Niger could be 40 kg/ha N, 20 kg/ha P and 0 kg/ha K.
