Theories predict that in polyandrous species,the focal male should increase sperm allocation per mate in the presence of rivals to gain greater share of paternity,but in the presence of additional mates,he should reduce sperm allocation per mate to save sperm for insemination of more ***,empirical findings are often inconsistent and reasons behind are ***,many studies use copulation duration as an estimate of the number of sperm ***,empirical evidence for such assumption is largely ***,we used a sperm heteromorphic insect Ephestia kuehniella whose males produce two types of sperm,eupyrenes(fertile)and apyrenes(nonfertile),to test these *** allowed focal males to detect chemical and acoustic but no tactile cues from rivals or additional mates both before and during mating and measured copulation duration and sperm allocation in successive *** demonstrate that males transfer significantly more eupyrenes per mate in the presence of rivals and that the sperm allocation pattern persists in successive copulations under this ***,males do not adjust apyrene allocation in response to rivals probably because apyrenes play a relatively minor role in male reproductive *** to a previous study,focal males do not respond to additional mates most likely due to the lack of tactile cues in the present *** reveal that sperm allocation is not a function of copulation duration in this insect for spermatophore formation and delivery occupy most of copulation duration and sperm transfer is complete near the end of copulation.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the protective effect of dark chocolate(DC) on the letrozole-induced rat model of polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS). METHODS: In this experimental study, 32 female Wistar rats, weighing(200 ± 20) g, were randomly categorized into 4 groups including control, letrozole(1 mg·kg-1·d-1), metformin(500 mg·kg-1·d-1) along with letrozole, and DC(500 mg·kg-1·d-1) along with letrozole for 28 d by oral gavage. Twenty-four hours after the last supplementation, direct blood sampling was taken from the heart to obtain blood serum for evaluation of sex hormones and gonadotropins, oxidative parameters, inflammatory cytokines, and ovarian tissue was examined for histology. RESULTS: The DC treatment significantly improved PCOS signs, as demonstrated by the significant restoration of ovarian morphology and physiological functions as compared with the letrozole group. DC treatment also decreased ovarian interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α levels and improved total oxidative/antioxidative status as compared with the letrozole group. CONCLUSIONS: Treating the animals with DC could alleviate the PCOS symptoms and reduced the toxic effects of letrozole in the ovary. This effect may mediate through antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties.

Objective:In traditional medicine,Stachys lavandulifolia or mountain tea has been used in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.A leaf extract from this plant is also thought to be effective in treating epilepsy as well as other neurological *** assess the effect of *** extract(SLE),rats were exposed to a stress and anxiety model caused by *** and Methods:A challenge dose of pentylenetetrazole(PTZ)(60 mg/kg)was used to induce seizures in male Wistar rats(200-250 g).Animal treated with an intraperitoneal injection of either SLE(50 mg/kg)or sodium valproate(100 mg/kg)alone or in combination 30 min before PTZ *** effect of stress and anxiety was assessed using an open field test(OFT),forced swim test(FST),and elevated plus maze(EPM).At the end of the experiment,anesthesia was used to euthanize rats,and their blood serum was collected for measurements of glutathione(GSH),malondialdehyde(MDA),and GSH peroxidase(GPx).Results:In contrast to the control group,those treated with PTZ exhibited depressive *** 50 mg/kg,SLE provided protection against seizures induced by *** also reduced seizure-induced stress and anxiety,significantly improving FST,EPM,and OFT compared with the PTZ-treated *** decreasing MDA levels and restoring the antioxidant enzymes GSH and GPx,SLE treatment protects against seizure-induced anxiety and ***:SLE inhibits oxidative stress damage and seizure-induced stress by inhibiting seizures'inhibitory effects.

The present research is focused on the effects of standard heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of diffusion brazed IN-738 LC *** distinct heat treatment cycles of full solution annealing,partial solution annealing,and aging treatment were applied to the bonded specimens,*** results reveal that bonding at 1120℃for 5 min leads to incomplete isothermal solidification and formation of eutectic phases including Ni-and Cr-rich borides in the joint *** the holding time to 45 min leads to the full isothermal solidification and formation of a nickel proeutectic solid-solution phase(γ)in the *** standard heat treatment of isothermally solidified and non-isothermally solidified specimens results in the complete elimination of the boride phases in the diffusion-affected zone and also the formation ofγ’precipitates in the isothermally solidified ***,discontinuously re-solidified products are observed in joint district in the non-isothermally solidified *** highest shear strength(~801 MPa)is achieved for isothermally solidified specimen after standard heat treatment;this strength is approximately 99%that of the substrate material.

The effects of joining temperature(TJ)and time(tJ)on microstructure of the transient liquid phase(TLP)bonding of GTD-111 superalloy were *** bonding process was applied using BNi-3 filler at temperatures of 1080,1120,and 1160℃ for isothermal solidification time of 195,135,and 90 min,*** heat treatment was also applied to all of the *** results show that intermetallic and eutectic compounds such as Ni-rich borides,Ni−B−Si ternary compound and eutectic-γcontinuously are formed in the joint region during *** increasing tJ,intermetallic phases are firstly reduced and eventually eliminated and isothermal solidification is completed as *** the increase of the holding time at all of the three bonding temperatures,the thickness of the athermally solidified zone(ASZ)and the volume fraction of precipitates in the bonding area decrease and the width of the diffusion affected zone(DAZ)*** results are also obtained by increasing TJ from 1080 to 1160℃ at tJ=90 ***,increasing the TJ from 1080 to 1160℃ leads to the faster elimination of intermetallic phases from the ***,these phases are again observed in the joint region at 1180℃.It is observed that by increasing the bonding temperature,the bonding width and the rate of dissolution of the base metal *** on these results,increasing the homogenization time from 180 to 300 min leads to the elimination of boride precipitates in the DAZ and a high uniformity of the concentration of alloying elements in the joint region and the base metal.

Trityl chloride(Ph3CCl) efficiently catalyzes the condensation of 3‐methyl‐1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazol‐ 5(4H)‐one and aromatic aldehydes under mild and solvent‐free conditions, affording 4,4'‐(arylmethylene)‐ bis(3‐methyl‐1‐phenyl‐1H‐ pyrazol‐5‐ol)s in high to excellent yields and in short reaction time. The presence of the requisite organocatalytic trityl carbocation(Ph3C+) species was confirmed by analysis of infrared, 1H NMR, and ultra violet spectral data. A plausible mechanism was proposed for the reaction based on the observations and literature precedent.

Titanium-matrix composites have important and wide applications in the transport and aerospace industries. The current research was focused on powder metallurgy processing of in-situ reinforced titanium-matrix composite with Ti B whiskers. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy and B4 C additive powders were used as raw materials. Two different consolidation techniques, namely press-and-sintering and spark plasma sintering, were selected. It was observed that in-situ Ti B whiskers were formed during sintering in both methods. The changes in size, aspect ratio and distribution of in-situ whiskers in different composite samples were monitored. The effect of spark plasma sintering temperature on the synthesis of in-situ whiskers was also investigated. Based on the microstructural observations（optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy） and the energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis, it was concluded that increasing the spark plasma sintering temperature from 900 to 1100 °C would lead to the complete formation of in-situ Ti B whiskers and reduced porosity content.

Aluminum chloride （AlCl3） efficiently catalyzes one-pot multicomponent condensation of enolizable ketones or alkyl acetoacetates with aldehydes, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride to afford β-acetamido ketone or ester derivatives in high to excellent yields and in relatively short reaction times. Moreover, by this synthetic method, some novel β-acetamido ketones and esters （i.e. one complex structure） are prepared.
