Induction of sub-g0 arrest and apoptosis by seed extract of moringa peregrina（Forssk.） Fiori in cervical and prostate cancer cell lines

Objective: This study investigated cytotoxicity and induction of apoptosis in human cervical cancer cells(HelA) and prostate cancer cells(PC-3) using the most active fraction of moringa peregrina seed ***: Dried and powdered seeds were extracted using 95% ethanol. The total ethanolic extract was further dissolved in distilled water and separated into petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts. Based on the results of in vitro anticancer studies of all extracts, the most highly active extract was selected for evaluation of apoptosis induction and cell cycle analysis on HelA and PC-3 cells at its half maximal inhibitory concentration using flow cytometry;DNA fragmentation by agarose gel electrophoresis and the expression of protein were measured by Western ***: The chloroform fraction from the ethanolic extract of m. peregrina(CFEE) was the most active antitumor fraction. The selectivity index, determined using the normal Vero cell line, indicated that CFEE had a high degree of selectivity against HelA and PC-3 cells. CFEE induced apoptosis, confirmed by cell cycle arrest at sub-g0 phase and DNA fragmentation. CFEE induced an increase in mRNA expression of caspase-3, a decrease in Bcl-2 mRNA expression, and decreased ATP levels. CFEE increased protein expression of caspase-3 and decreased protein expression of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase-1(PARP-1).Flow cytometric analysis showed an appreciable increase in the number of cells in the early apoptotic stage in CFEE-treated HelA and PC-3 cells. CFEE treatment significantly increased lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde level) in HelA and PC-3 ***: Seed extract of m. peregrina displayed a significant antitumor effect through apoptosis induction in HelA and PC-3 cells.

A uniform experimental design(UED)is an extremely used powerful and efficient methodology for designing experiments with high-dimensional inputs,limited resources and unknown underlying models.A UED enjoys the following two significant advantages:(i)It is a robust design,since it does not require to specify a model before experimenters conduct their experiments;and(ii)it provides uniformly scatter design points in the experimental domain,thus it gives a good representation of this domain with fewer experimental trials(runs).many real-life experiments involve hundreds or thousands of active factors and thus large UEDs are *** large UEDs using the existing techniques is an NP-hard problem,an extremely time-consuming heuristic search process and a satisfactory result is not *** paper presents a new effective and easy technique,adjusted gray map technique(AgmT),for constructing(nearly)UEDs with large numbers of four-level factors and runs by converting designs with s two-level factors and n runs to(nearly)UEDs with 2^(t−1)s four-level factors and 2tn runs for any t≥0 using two simple transformation *** justifications for the uniformity of the resulting four-level designs are given,which provide some necessary and/or sufficient conditions for obtaining(nearly)uniform four-level *** results show that the AgmT is much easier and better than the existing widely used techniques and it can be effectively used to simply generate new recommended large(nearly)UEDs with four-level factors.

In situ modifed screen printed and carbon paste ion selective electrodes for potentiometric determination of naphazoline hydrochloride in its formulation

The construction and performance characteristics of new sensitive and selective in situ modified screen printed （ISPE） and carbon paste （ICPE） electrodes for determination of naphazoline hydrochloride （NPZ-HC1） have been developed. The electrodes under investigation show potentiometric response for NPZ-HC1 in the concentration range from 7.0 x 10-7 to 1.0 x 10-2 m at 25 ~C and the electrode response is independent of pH in the range of 3.1-7.9. These sensors have slope values of 59.7＋0.6 and 59.2＋0.2 mV decade-l with detection limit values of 5.6 ~ 10-7 and 5.9 x 10-7 m NPZ- HC1 using ISPE and ICPE, respectively. These electrodes show fast response time of 4-7 s and 5-8 s and exhibits lifetimes of 28 and 30 days for ISPE and ICPE, respectively. Selectivity for NPZ-HC1 with respect to a number of interfering materials was also investigated. It was found that there is no interference from the investigated inorganic cations, anions, sugars and other pharmaceutical excipients. The proposed sensors were applied for the determination of NPZ-HC1 in pharmaceutical formulation using the direct potentiometric method. It showed a mean average recovery of 100.2% and 102.6% for ISPE and ICPE, respectively. The obtained results using the proposed sensors were in good agreement with those obtained using the official method. The proposed sensors show significantly high selectivity, response time, accuracy, precision, limit of detection （LOD）and limit of quantification （LOQ） compared with other proposed methods.

Comparative study on yields and quality parameters of argan oils extracted by conventional and green extraction techniques

Argan oil is most frequently sold as pure oil,which can be directly applied topically due to its cosmetological proprieties or ingested in order to provide several health ***'s also commonly mixed into a number of cosmetic products like shampoos,soaps and *** this study we aimed to improve the argan oil extraction yield and quality parameters by comparing the effects of different extraction *** kernel oils were extracted using four methods:mechanical cold press,Soxhlet extraction with n-hexane,supercritical fluid extraction(SFE),and enzyme assisted extraction with three different enzyme solutions cellulase(cellulast),pectinase(Pectinex)and a mixture of carbohydrase enzymes(Viscozyme®).The quality parameters was evaluated by determining the acid,peroxide and iodine values aswell as the extinction coefficients K_(232) and K_(270) as measures of conjugated dienes and trienes,*** results showed that the highest yield(66.37%±3.3%)was obtained by enzyme assisted extraction using the carbohydrases enzymes mixture(Viscozyme®),followed by Soxhlet extraction(59.5%±3.1%)and pectinase extraction(52.03%±3.55%).All argan oils samples obtained by the different methods showed a good oxidation stability,with acid,peroxide and iodine values lower than 0.8 mg/g,15 meq/kg and 110 g/100 g according to the official argan oil norm,*** results of argan oils quality parameters demonstrated that the enzyme extracted argan oils showed low oxidation,with the following quality parameters:acid values(0.4-0.6 mg/g),iodine values(95-100 g/100 g),dienes(K_(232)meq/kg).The results proved that the enzyme assisted extraction method can be applied to improve the argan oil yield without affecting the oil *** enzyme extraction method may be a great alternative to solvent and cold press extractions for this eco-friendly processing approach.

Short Term Wind Power Forecasting Using Autoregressive Integrated moving Average Approach

Wind energy is one of the most promising electricity generating sources as a clean and free alternate compared with the conventional power plants and due to the volatility feature in the wind speeds it will reflect some problems in power systems reliability particularly if the system is deeply penetrated by wind farms. Therefore, wind power forecasting issue become and is still an important scope that will help in ED （economic dispatch）, UC （unit commitment） purposes to get more reliable and economic systems. This paper introduces short term wind power forecasting model, based on ARImA （autoregressive integrated moving average） which will be applied to hourly wind data from Zaafarana 5 project in Egypt. The proposed model successfully outperforms the persistence model with significant improvement up to 6 h ahead.

We give an existence result of entropy and renormalized solutions for strongly nonlinear elliptic equations in the framework of Sobolev spaces with variable exponents of the type： -div （a（x, u,▽u）＋φ（u））＋g（x, u,▽u）=μ, where the right-hand side belongs to L^1（Ω）＋W^-1,p＇（x）（Ω）, -div（a（x, u,▽u）） is a Leray-Lions operator defined from W^-1,p＇（x）（Ω） into its dual and φ∈C^0（R,R^N）. The function g（x, u,▽u） is a non linear lower order term with natural growth with respect to ｜▽u｜ satisfying the sign condition, that is, g（x, u,▽u）u ≥ 0.

Despite its appearance in physics around the 1850th, the second law of thermodynamics is still attracting more efforts to be clarified. more specifically, fifteen years later (1865) after its definition and introduction, entropy has been the subject of various interpretations. Hence, in physical sciences and notably in different education levels, its concept seems to be relatively tough to unambiguous decipher. In this work, we re-introduce the notion of entropy from classical, quantum and information theories viewpoints. The controversial over entropy and a measure of disorder misconception, stated by many scientists, is addressed as well to come up with less confusing physical interpretation of entropy. Hence, over time, an increase of entropy, a quantitative quantity, is most often associated to a rising of disorder, a non-quantitative quantity and no value-returning mathematical equation, rather than a continuously increasing of hidden data. In other words, linking disorder to hidden data is typically raising more confusion than clarification. Here, we shed more light on both concepts to find out an acceptable interpretation of entropy.

AIm:To examine the influence of ghrelin on the regenerative potential of gastrointestinal(gI)***:Damage to gI epithelium was induced in mice by two intravenous injections of doxorubicin(10 and 6 mg/kg).Some of the doxorubicin-treated mice received a continuous subcutaneous infusion of ghrelin(1.25μg/h)for 10 d via implanted mini-osmotic *** label dividing stem cells in the S-phase of the cell cycle,all mice received a single intraperitoneal injection of 5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine(BrdU)one hour before *** stomach along with the duodenum were then removed and processed for histological examination and immunohistochemistry using anti-BrdU ***:The results showed dramatic damage to the gI epithelium 3 d after administration of chemotherapy which began to recover by day *** ghrelintreated mice,attenuation of gI mucosal damage was evident in the tissues examined *** analysis showed an increase in the number of BrdUlabeled cells and an alteration in their distribution along the epithelial lining in response to damage by *** mice treated with both doxorubicin and ghrelin,the number of BrdUlabeled cells was reduced when compared with mice treated with doxorubicin ***:The present study suggests that ghrelin enhances the regenerative potential of the gI epithelium in doxorubicintreated mice,at least in part,by modulating cell proliferation.

Antimicrobial activities of three seaweeds extract against some human viral and bacterial pathogens

microbial infections cause complicated health influences along with bad economic *** the present investigation,three dominant seaweeds namely,Amphiroa anceps,Corallina officinalis and Sargassum filipendula were collected from different Egyptian sites at the Red Sea and mediterranean Sea during autumn *** extracts of the three algae were screened for their antibacterial activity against three pathogenic bacteria Salmonella typhiimurium,Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli,in addition to in vitro antiviral activity against Rotavirus(RV),and Coxsackie virus B3(CVB3)that cause severe diseases in *** extract of ***,*** and *** inhibit *** cells by 57.1%,85.7%,and 91.4%,*** highest level of concentration of the *** extract(100μg/mL)inhibits 100%of Staphylococcus aureus cells followed by *** and *** extract which inhibit 82.5%and 75%of ***,the highest concentration of *** extract inhibits *** by 80%.The extract of *** exhibited a high antiviral effect against RV infection with TI=22 and virus titers lessened by 2.75 log TCID_(50) followed by extractions of *** with TI=18.3 and virus titers reduced by 2.5 log TCID_(50).Against CVB3 infection,the extract of *** causes the highest antiviral activity with TI=15 and reduce the viral titers by 2.5 log TCID_(50),followed by extractions of *** with TI=8.8 and inhibition of virus titers by 1.75 log TCID_(50).Extract of *** displayed the lowest antiviral effects against RV and CVB3 infection with TI=2.4 and 1.4,*** obtained results clarified that the extract of three marine seaweeds maintains a potent antimicrobial activity,making them a future promising source of new antimicrobial drugs.
