Trans-arterial chemoperfusion for the treatment of liver metastases of breast cancer and colorectal cancer: Clinical results in palliative care patients

AIm To evaluate the clinical value and efficiency of transarterial chemoperfusion(TACP) in patients with liver metastases from breast cancer(BC) and colorectal cancer(CRC).mETHODS We treated 36 patients with liver metastases of BC(n = 19, 19 females) and CRC(n = 17; 8 females, 9 males) with repeated TACP. The treatment interval was 4 wk. TACP was performed with gemcitabine(1000 mg/m2) and mitomycin(10 mg/m2), administered within 1 h after positioning the catheter tip in the hepatic artery. Before treatment, the size, location, tumour volume, vascularization and number of liver tumours were evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging(mRI). Tumour response was evaluated according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors *** TACP using gemcitabine and mitomycin for metastases from CRC and BC was performed without any serious side effects. The follow-up mRI showed a therapeutic response in 84.2% of the BC patients-stable disease 47.4% and partial response 36.8%. A progression was seen in 15.8%.CRC patients showed a therapeutic response in 52.9% of cases. A progression of the disease was documented in 47.1% of the patients with CRC. These data show that TACP in patients with liver metastases of BC leads to a significantly better therapeutic response compared with CRC patients(P = 0.042). The median survival time was 13.2 mo for the BC patients, which is significantly longer than for CRC patients at 9.3 mo(P = 0.001).CONCLUSION TACP for liver metastases of BC appears to be a safe and effective palliative treatment with improved outcomes in comparison to patients with CRC.

Activation-induced deaminase(AID)is required for immunoglobulin(Ig)class switch recombination(CSR),in which the constant(C)μgene of Igm is substituted with C_(γ),C_(ε),or C_(α),thereby generating IgG,IgE,and IgA antibodies,respectively,with new effector functions but the same antigenic specificity.1 AID targets specific DNA switch(S)regions preceding C regions except for Cδ.2 Sμis usually the donor region,while Sγ,ε,αare the acceptor *** deaminates C into U on single-stranded DNA by targeting the WRCY(W=A/T,R=A/G,and Y=C/T)hot motif and,to a lesser extent,the SYC(S=G/C,Y=C/T)cold motif.3,4 AID is a member of the apolipoprotein B editing complex(APOBEC)*** APOBEC genes,a family of evolutionarily conserved cytidine deaminases,APOBEC3 is implicated in diverse cell functions including innate immunity against retroviruses.4 The DNA-editing APOBEC3 enzymes have recently attracted attention due to their involvement in cancer and potential applications in gene editing.5–7 While a single copy of each APOBEC3 gene is present in rodents,seven copies of each APOBEC3 gene are found in humans.

Objective:To clone the virB12 gene in pET28a expression vector for production of recombinant protein to be used as antigenic component for future serological test ***: Brucella melitensis(***) 16m strain was cultured and bacterial DNA was extracted by Bioneer AccuPrep~ Genomic DNA Extraction *** primer pair was designed based on Brucella virB12 gene sequence with BamHI and HindIII restriction site at 5’ end of the forward and reverse primers,*** amplification was performed using PrimSTAR~ HS DNA polymerase and the PCK product was purified by DNA AccuPrepGel Purification *** DNA was cloned into pJET1.2 cloning ***12 gene fragment was excised from pJET1.2 asing BamHI/HindIII and subsequendy subcloned into pET28a(+).Results:Brucella virB12 gene was successfully cloned in pJET1.2 and then in pET28a(+) *** and restriction enzyme digestion confirms the ***:We cloned and expressed the Brucella virB12 gene which could be used as antigenic component for specific serological assay development.

The microclimate surrounding a plant has major effect on its health and photosynthesis process,where certain plants struggle in suboptimal environmental conditions and unbalanced levels of humidity and *** ability to remotely track and correlate the effect of local environmental conditions on the healthy growth of plants can have great impact for increasing survival rate of plants and augmenting agriculture *** necessitates the widespread distribution of lightweight sensory devices on the surface of each *** flexible and biocompatible materials coupled with a smart compact design for a low power and lightweight system,we develop widely deployed,autonomous,and compliant wearables for *** demonstrated wearables integrate temperature,humidity and strain sensors,and can be intimately deployed on the soft surface of any plant to remotely and continuously evaluate optimal growth *** is enabled through simultaneous detection of environmental conditions while quantitatively tracking the growth rate(***).Finally,we establish a nature-inspired origami-assembled 3D-printed“PlantCopter”,used as a launching platform for our plant wearable to enable widespread microclimate monitoring in large fields.

Experimental and computational chemical studies on the cationic furanylnicotinamidines as novel corrosion inhibitors in aqueous solutions

The corrosion inhibition action of three newly synthesized furanylnicotinamidine derivatives namely: 6-[5-{4(dimethylamino)phenyl}furan-2-yl]nicotinamidine(mA-1256), 6-[5-(4-chlorophenyl)furan-2-yl]nicotinamidine(mA-1266), and 6-[5-{4-(dimethylamino)phenyl}furan-2-yl]nicotinonitrile(mA-1250) on carbon steel(C-steel) was investigated in 1.0 mol·L-1 HCl solution by weight loss(WL), potentiodynamic polarization(PP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), and electrochemical frequency modulation(EFm)techniques. morphological analysis was performed on the uninhibited and inhibited C-steel using atomic force microscope(AFm) and Infrared Spectroscopy(ATR-IR) methods. The effect of temperature was studied and discussed. Inspection of experimental results revealed that the inhibition efficiency(IE) increases with the incremental addition of inhibitors and with elevating the temperature of the acid media. The adsorption of furanylnicotinamidine derivatives on C-steel follows Temkin’s isotherm. PP studies indicated that the investigated compounds act as mixed-type inhibitors and showed that p-dimethylaminophenyl furanylnicotinamidine derivative(mA-1256) was the most efficient inhibitor among the other studied derivatives with IE reached(95%)at 21 × 10-6 mol·L-1. mA-1266 is highly soluble in aqueous solution and has non-toxicity profile with LC50 N 37 mg·L-1. Thus, mA-1266 can be a promising green corrosion inhibitor candidate with IE N 91% at 21× 10-6 mol·L-1. The experiments were coupled with computational chemical theories such as quantum chemical and molecular dynamic methods. The experimental results were in good agreement with the computational outputs.

mouse B1 B cells originate in the embryonic liver and are the major B-cell population in the peritoneal and pleural cavities.1–5 By contrast,mouse B2 B cells originate in the bone marrow and are the major B-cell population in the bone marrow,spleen,and blood.B1 and B2 B cells differ not only in their origin and locations,but also in their antigen specificity,cell surface markers,capacities for class-switch recombination(CSR)and somatic hypermutation(SHm).IgH cis-regulatory regions and,particularly,transcriptional super-enhancers are major locus regulators under both normal and pathological conditions.6,7 Important differences have been found regarding the ability of the IgH 3′regulatory region(3′RR)super-enhancer to control the B1 and B2 B-cell fate.
