Anterior transolecranon dislocation of the elbow in a child: A case report and review of literature

Anterior transolecranon dislocation of the elbow is rarely observed in children, reported in only a small series. The present case involves an anterior transolecranon dislocation of the left elbow joint in a 7-year-old child, which was surgically treated. Two attempts of closed reduction failed because the radial head had buttonholed via the joint capsule. After its release, open reduction was easily performed; osteosynthesis of the olecranon was not performed. Remarkably, good result was obtained, despite a mild flexion deformity at the last follow-up. This case report aims to highlight this treatment method, which may be considered for such an uncommon injury.

We introduce in this paper an extension of the Multimodal Compression technique (MC) for the purpose of coding hyperspectral image sequences. The main idea requires few steps, namely: (1) reducing the size of the sequence by inserting smooth images containing less information into the remaining images of the same sequence, (2) then coding the new compacted sequence using 3D-SPIHT algorithm. In this new scheme, called MC-3D-SPIHT, the insertion is achieved only in the contour of each image, according to a non-supervised way, so that one can preserve the Region of Interest (ROI) quality. For this purpose, a mixing function is employed. After the decoding process, inserted images are extracted by a separation function and the original sequence is reconstructed. By considering data from AVIRIS database, we will show how one decrease significantly the computing time for both coding and decoding.

We describe the development of quinolylnitrones(QNs)as multifunctional ligands inhibiting cholinesterases(ChEs:acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase—h BChE)and monoamine oxidases(hMAO-A/B)for the therapy of neurodegenerative *** identified QN 19,a simple,low molecular weight nitrone,that is readily synthesized from commercially available *** 19 has no typical pharmacophoric element to suggest ChE or MAO inhibition,yet unexpectedly showed potent inhibition of h BChE(IC50=1.06±0.31 nmol/L)and h MAO-B(IC_(50)=4.46±0.18μmol/L).The crystal structures of 19 with hBChE and hMAO-B provided the structural basis for potent binding,which was further studied by enzyme *** 19 acted as a free radical scavenger and biometal chelator,crossed the blood—brain barrier,was not cytotoxic,and showed neuroprotective properties in a 6-hydroxydopamine cell model of Parkinson's *** addition,in vivo studies showed the anti-amnesic effect of 19 in the scopolamine-induced mouse model of AD without adverse effects on motoric function and ***,chronic treatment of double transgenic APPswe-PS1δE9 mice with 19 reduced amyloid plaque load in the hippocampus and cortex of female mice,underscoring the disease-modifying effect of QN 19.

Water resources issue in the Middle East is an important question related to the 4th June 1967 line in the Middle Eastpeace process. This paper focuses on possibilities within the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach to contribute to the peace process between what is calledIsraeland Arab countries emphasizing fruitful cooperation to resolve the 4th June 1967 line issue. The paper shows that start of a possible cooperation could be founded on interest-based negotiations and built on IWRM principles by a simple geographical allocation plan for theLake Tiberiaswater together with a joint environmental protection plan to build cooperation instead of confrontation and integration instead of fragmentation. In a better cooperative climate, withdrawing from the 4th June 1967 line could be a possibility because negotiation results would incur safer access to sustainable water resources and a comprehensive peace.

A Chain-Based Routing Protocol to Maximize the Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

Energy conservation is a key issue in the design of systems based on wireless sensor networks. Clustering routing protocols have been developed in order to reduce the network traffic toward the sink and therefore prolong the network lifetime. An alternative of clustering is to build chains instead of clusters. In this context, we propose a routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). It is based on constructing multiple chains in the direction of the sink. The first node of each chain sends data to the closest node in the same chain. This latter collects, aggregates and transmits data to the next closest node. This process repeats until reaching the last node, which aggregates and transmits data directly to the sink. An improvement of this approach is proposed. It works as follows: In addition to forming multiple chains as previously, it constructs a main chain, which includes leader node of each chain. Since, initially all main chain nodes have the same amount of power, the nearest node to the sink aggregates data from others then transmits it to the sink. In the next transmission, main chain node having the higher residual energy performs this task. Compared with the first approach, simulation results show that improvement approach consumes less energy and effectively extends the network lifetime.

提出了用于加速气动力形状优化过程的分级型Nash基因算法.分级型算法可以看作是并行基因算法的特例,后者使用了互相联系但独立进化的子群的概念.本文在并行基因算法中引入多层分级拓扑结构以提高算法的收敛性.这种拓扑结构混合使用不同精度的模型,低精度模型用于探索搜索空间,高精度模型用于对准优解进行提纯.将此方法与Nash博弈相结合,构造了多目标优化算法,并应用于气动力优化问题.针对喷管反设计问题与多段翼型高升力优化问题,在计算机集群并行环境下进行了计算,结果表明本文的算法具有较高的加速收敛特性.

A Colpitts oscillator, working around a 3 GHz frequency, contains a double gate Metal Oxide Semiconductor transistor (DGMOS). A mixed-mode analysis is involved, applying a quantum model to the device, whereas the rest of the considered circuit is governed by Kirchhoff’s laws. The Linear Time Variant (LTV) model of phase noise is based on the Impulse Sensitivity Function of the Colpitts Oscillator which describes carefully the sensitivity of an oscillator to any impulse current injection in any node of the circuit. Finally, we improve the phase noise modeling, confronting some analytical developments to mixed-mode simulations.

In this work, we present a numerical model to solve the drift diffusion equations coupled with electromagnetic model, where all simulations codes are implemented using MATLAB code software. As first, we present a one-dimensional (1-D) PIN diode structure simulation achieved by solving the drift diffusion model (DDM). Backward Euler algorithm is used for the discretization of the proposed model. The aim is to accomplish time-domain integration. Also, finite different method (FDM) is considered to achieve space-Domain mesh. We introduced an iterative scheme to solve the obtained matrix systems, which combines the Gummel’s iteration with an efficient direct numerical UMFPACK method. The obtained solutions of the proposed algorithm provide the time and space distribution of the unknown functions like electrostatic potential and carrier’s concentration for the PIN diode. As second case, the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique is adopted to analyze the entire 3-D structure of the stripline circuit including the lumped element PIN diode. The microwave circuit is located in an unbounded medium, requiring absorbing boundaries to avoid nonphysical reflections. Active device results were presented and show a good agreement with other reference. Electromagnetic results are qualitatively in agreement with other results obtained using SILVACO-TCAD.

With the increasing number of applications of Global navigation satellite system, the modeling of the ionosphere is a crucial element for precise positioning. Indeed, the ionosphere delays the electromagnetic waves which pass through it and induces a delay of propagation related to the electronic density (TEC) Total Electronic Content and to the frequency of the wave. The impact of this ionospheric error often results in a poor determination of the station’s position, particularly in strong solar activity. The first part of this paper focuses on a bibliographic study oriented first of all on the study of the ionosphere in relation to solar activity and secondly on the determination of the total electron content using GNSS measurements from the IGS network reference stations. Measurements were made on two permanent stations “RABT”, “TETN”. We selected years of GNSS measurements to evaluate the geomagnetic impact on the ionosphere, 2001, 2009 and 2013. A description of the ionospheric disturbances and geomagnetic storms was analyzed by determination of TEC, especially in high solar activity. The results show a strong dependence of the ionospheric activity with the geomagnetic activity.
