Increasing global water shortages are accelerating the pace of membrane manufacturing,which generates many environmentally harmful *** challenges need a radical rethink of developing innovative membranes that can address freshwater production without generating environmentally harmful *** work utilized the synthesized ultra-long hydroxyapatite(Uha)by the solvothermal method using the green solvent oleic acid in preparing Uha-based forward osmosis *** membranes were developed using different loading ratios of graphene oxide(GO)by vacuum-assisted filtration *** prepared GO/Uha membranes were identified using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron *** contact angle and pore size distribution were determined for the obtained GO/Uha *** obtained hierarchical porous structure in the prepared membranes with interconnected channels results in a stable water flux with reverse salt *** best water flux rate of 42±2 l·m^(–2)·h^(–1)was achieved using the 50 mg GO/Uha membrane,which is 3.3 times higher than the pristine membrane,and a reverse salt flux of 67 g·m^(-2)·h^(–1).The obtained results showed a promising capability of a new generation of sustainable inorganic-based membranes that can be utilized in freshwater generation by energy-efficient techniques such as forward osmosis.

The early implementation of treatment therapies necessitates the swift and precise identification of COVid-19 pneumonia by the analysis of chest CT *** study aims to investigate the indispensable need for precise and interpretable diagnostic tools for improving clinical decision-making for COVid-19 *** paper proposes a novel deep learning approach,called Conformer Network,for explainable discrimination of viral pneumonia depending on the lung Region of Infections(ROI)within a single modality radiographic CT ***,an efficient U-shaped transformer network is integrated for lung image ***,a robust transfer learning technique is introduced to design a robust feature extractor based on pre-trained lightweight Big Transfer(BiT-l)and finetuned on medical data to effectively learn the patterns of infection in the input ***,this work presents a visual explanation method to guarantee clinical explainability for decisions made by Conformer *** evaluation of real-world CT data demonstrated that the diagnostic accuracy of ourmodel outperforms cutting-edge studies with statistical *** Conformer Network achieves 97.40% of detection accuracy under cross-validation *** model not only achieves high sensitivity and specificity but also affords visualizations of salient features contributing to each classification decision,enhancing the overall transparency and trustworthiness of our *** findings provide obvious implications for the ability of our model to empower clinical staff by generating transparent intuitions about the features driving diagnostic decisions.

This paper investigates the fundamental sensing mechanism of electrostatic MEMS gas *** compares among the responsivities of a set of MEMS isopropanol sensors before and after functionalization,and in the presence and absence of electrostatic fields when operated in static and dynamic detection *** the static mode,we found that the sensors do not exhibit a measurable change in displacement due to added *** the other hand,bare sensors showed a clear change in displacement in response to isopropanol *** the dynamic mode,functionalized sensors showed a measurable frequency shift due to the added mass of isopropanol *** the presence of strong electrostatic fields,the measured frequency shift was found to be threefold larger than that in their absence in response to the same concentration of isopropanol *** enhanced responsivity of dynamic detection allows the sensors to measure the vapor mass captured by the functional material,which is not the case for static *** detection of isopropanol by bare sensors in static mode shows that change in the medium permittivity is the primary sensing *** enhanced responsivity of dynamic mode sensors when operated in strong electrostatic fields shows that their sensing mechanism is a combination of a weaker added mass effect and a stronger permittivity *** findings show that electrostatic MEMS gas sensors are independent of the direction of the gravitational field and are,thus,robust to changes in *** is erroneous to refer to them as‘gravimetric’sensors.

BACKGROUND In patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),the treatment options are limited and have been proved to be affected by rat sarcoma virus(RAS)mutational *** RAS wild-type(wt)patients,the combination of antiepidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)monoclonal antibodies with chemotherapy(CT)is more effective than CT *** the other hand,RAS-mutated patients are not eligible for treatment with anti-EGFR *** SUMMARY Eleven patients with initially RAS-mutated mCRC were followed from diagnosis to May *** the time of cell-free DNA determination,five patients had undergone one CT line,five patients had undergone two CT lines,and one patient had undergone three CT lines(all in combination with bevacizumab).At the second and third treatment lines[second line(2l),third line(3l)],patients with neo-RAS wt received a combination of CT and *** neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR,our findings indicated an increase in progression-free survival for both 2l and 3l(14.5 mo,P=0.119 and 3.9 mo,P=0.882,respectively).Regarding 2l overall survival,we registered a slight increase in neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR(33.6 mo vs 32.4 mo,P=0.385).At data cut-off,two patients were still alive:A RAS-mutated patient undergoing 3l treatment and a neo-RAS wt patient who received 2l treatment with anti-EGFR(ongoing).CONClUSION Our case series demonstrated that monitoring RAS mutations in mCRC by liquid biopsy may provide an additional treatment line for neo-RAS wt patients.

The alkaline volcanism of the Cameroon Volcanic line in its northern domain has raised many fresh enclaves of peridotites. The samples selected come from five (05) different localities (liri, in the plateau of Kapsiki, Mazélé in the NE of Ngaoundéré, Tello and Ganguiré in the SE of Ngaoundéré and likok, locality located in the west of Ngaoundé). The peridotite enclaves of the above localities show restricted mineralogical variation. Most are four-phase spinel-lherzolites, indicating that this is the main lithology that forms the lithospheric mantle below the shallow zone. No traces of garnet or primary plagioclase were detected, which strongly limits the depth range from which the rock fragments were sampled. The textures and the wide equilibrium temperatures (884˚C - 1115˚C) indicate also entrainment of lherzolite xenoliths from shallow depths within the lithosphere and the presence of mantle diapirism. The exchange reactions and equilibrium state established in this work make it possible to characterize the chemical composition of the upper mantle of each region and test the equilibrium state of the phases between them. Variations of major oxides and incompatible elemental concentrations in clinopyroxene indicate a primary control by partial melting. The absence of typical “metasomatic” minerals, low equilibration temperatures and enriched lREE patterns indicate that the upper mantle below septentrional crust of Cameroun underwent an event of cryptic metasomatic enrichment prior to partial melting. The distinctive chemical features, lREE enrichment, strong U, Ce and Pr, depletion relative to Ba, Nb, la, Pb, and T, fractionation of Zr and Hf and therefore ligh high Zr/Hf ratio, low la/Yb, Nb/la and Ti/Eu are all results of interaction of refractory peridotite residues with carbonatite melts.

Objective:Placement of human placenta derived grafts during robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy(RARP)hastens the return of continence and *** long-term impact on the oncologic outcomes remains to be *** objective was to determine the oncologic outcomes of patients with dehydrated human amnion chorion membrane(dhaCM)at RARP compared to a matched ***:In a referral centre,from August 2013 to October 2019,599 patients used dhaCM in bilateral nerve-sparing *** excluded patients with less than 12 months follow-up,simple prostatectomy,and unilateral *** with dhaCM(amnio group)were 529,and were propensity score matched 1:1 to 2465 patients without dhaCM(non-amnio group)and a minimum follow-up of 36 *** the time of RARP,dhaCM was placed around the neurovascular bundle in the amnio *** and categorical variables in matched groups was tested by two-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Fisher's exact test *** measured were biochemical recurrence(BCR),adjuvant and salvage therapy ***:Propensity score matching resulted in two groups of 444 *** incidence functions for BCR did not show a difference between the groups(p=0.3).Patients in the non-amnio group required salvage therapy more frequently than the amnio group,particularly after partial nerve-sparing RARP(6.3%vs.2.3%,p=0.001).limitations are the absence of prospective ***:The data suggest that using dhaCM does not have a negative impact on BCR in *** of cancer specific and overall survival will require follow-up study to increase our understanding of these grafts’impact on prostate cancer biology.

Most microfluidic separation techniques rely largely on object size as a separation *** ability to separate micro-objects based on their shape is crucial in various biomedical and chemical ***,we develop an ondemand,label-free acoustofluidic method to separate prolate ellipsoids from spherical microparticles based on traveling surface acoustic wave-induced acoustic radiation force and *** freely rotating non-spherical microobjects were aligned under the progressive acoustic field by the counterrotating radiation torque,and the major axis of the prolate ellipsoids was parallel to the progressive wave *** specific alignment of the ellipsoidal particles resulted in a reduction in the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the wave *** a consequence,the acoustic backscattering decreased,resulting in a decreased magnitude of the radiation *** the variation in radiation force,which depended on the micro-object morphology enabled the acoustofluidic shape-based *** conducted numerical simulations for the wave scattering of spherical and prolate objects to elucidate the working mechanism underlying the proposed method.A series of experiments with polystyrene microspheres,prolate ellipsoids,and peanut-shaped microparticles were performed for *** quantitative analysis of the separation efficiency,we confirmed the high purity and high recovery rate of the proposed acoustofluidic shapebased separation of *** a bioparticle,we utilize Thalassiosira eccentrica to perform shape-based separation,as the species has a variety of potential applications in drug delivery,biosensing,nanofabrication,bioencapsulation and immunoisolation.
