Advancing Early Detection of Colorectal Adenomatous Polyps via Genetic Data Analysis: A Hybrid machine Learning Approach

In this study, a hybrid machine learning (HmL)-based approach, incorporating Genetic data analysis (GDA), is proposed to accurately identify the presence of adenomatous colorectal polyps (ACRP) which is a crucial early detector of colorectal cancer (CRC). The present study develops a classification ensemble model based on tuned hyperparameters. Surpassing accuracy percentages of early detection approaches used in previous studies, the current method exhibits exceptional performance in identifying ACRP and diagnosing CRC, overcoming limitations of CRC traditional methods that are based on error-prone manual examination. Particularly, the method demonstrates the following CRP identification accuracy data: 97.7 ± 1.1, precision: 94.3 ± 5, recall: 96.0 ± 3, F1-score: 95.7 ± 4, specificity: 97.3 ± 1.2, average AUC: 0.97.3 ± 0.02, and average p-value: 0.0425 ± 0.07. The findings underscore the potential of this method for early detection of ACRP as well as clinical use in the development of CRC treatment planning strategies. The advantages of this approach are highly expected to contribute to the prevention and reduction of CRC mortality.

Thermomechanical Characterization of Three Soils of Abeche in Chad

The study carried out concerns the valorization of agricultural waste for the development of biosourced materials that can be used as insulation in homes. This article is devoted to the influence of gum arabic on the mechanical and thermal properties of clay soils in the town of Abéché. The mechanical tests were carried out using the CBR press equipped with two devices (bending device and compression device). Thermal property such as thermal conductivity was determined by the hot wire method and thermal resistance was derived by calculation. Thus, the tests were carried out on test pieces made from a mixture of clay and gum arabic in solution. The experimental program includes seven formulations (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% and 12%). The results obtained showed that the best flexural and compressive strengths are obtained by using gum arabic with a rate of 8% and a maximum stress of 4.3 mPa. In addition, the thermal results also showed that the thermal conductivity decreases when the percentage of gum arabic increases, which makes it possible to increase the thermal resistance, thus confirming the capacity of gum arabic to provide thermal insulation.

With the aim of enhancing the value of local building materials, the subject of this paper is a thermophysical study of natural Chadian clay from the eastern region of Chad, “Abeche”. Samples were taken from a brickwork in Abeche from a depth of 1 m, then using a clay brick-making press, 4 × 5 × 8 cm3 clay test tubes were made with 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% cow dung, and a 100% clay sample was used as a control. These samples underwent thermophysical characterization using the hot-wire method with a hot-plane option, yielding results that could improve thermophysical performance. The thermal conductivity of the test sample is in the order of 0.715 to 0.420 W/m. K, at 8% for cow dung, so the addition of cow dung as a percentage in the clay matrix enabled us to obtain various satisfactory thermal parameters.

BACKGROUND Oral candidiasis(OC)is an oral health disease that could influence patients’oral health quality of *** To estimate prevalence of OC among disabled and non-disabled individuals and its potential risk factors in the Al-Baha region,Saudi *** An observational cross-sectional study was carried out among 148 disabled and non-disabled *** technique of concentrated oral rinse employing the Sabouraud Dextrose Agar medium accompanied with 0.05%chloramphenicol was conducted to assess and isolate *** examination using the World Health Organization guidelines was conducted to examine participants’oral hea-lth status.A pre-designed questionnaire was also used to evaluate sociodemo-graphic,medical history,and oral hygiene habits of the studied *** Out of 148 participants(n=57,38%)had colonized *** of the studied population had visible Candida ***,Candida was found in the oral rinses without the subject presenting any lesions or issues caused by Candida(asymptomatic colonization).The most common prevalent OC among participants were Candida albicans,Candida glabrata,Candida dubliniensis,Candida krusei,Candida tropicalis,and Candida parapsilosis(n=35,61%;n=8,14%;n=6,10%;n=5,9%;n=2,4%;and n=1,2%)***,smoking,poor plaque,and gingival status were key potential risk factors that significantly associated with candida’s density and presence(P=0.001,P=0.001,P=0.01,and P=0.01)*** status had no statistically significant effect on presence and density of *** The prevalence of OC is almost third of the studied population;thus,may provoke a need to develop preventive strategies to reduce the OC rate and establish solid treatment plans.

The effect of hydrogel particle size on water retention properties and availability under water stress

The use of superabsorbent polymers or hydrogels could increase the water holding capacity (WHC) of sandy soil and reduce water loss by deep ***,hydrogels' retained water availability to plants might be overestimated without taking into consideration the hydrogel particles ***,the ultimate objective of this study was to address the impacts of hydrogel particles size on hydrogel's retained water availability (plant available water,PAW),daily water consumption (DWC) and survival of Guava seedlings subjected to ***,some soil physical properties,i.e.,WHC,water retention properties,and hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) were *** (WaterSorb,'WS') application,particularly the WS of small particles,significantly reduced Ksat,and increased WHC and ***,seedlings grown in soil amended with WS fine (0.8-1.0 mm),WS medium (1.0-2.0 mm) and WS large (2-4 mm) survived for 27.0 ± 1.3,24.0 ± 1.1 and 17.0 ± 0.7 days,respectively,compared to 13.0 ± 1.0 days for the *** water stored in the WS of large particles was less readily available for plant ***,hydrogels,had no effect on the DWC of the *** hydrogels as a soil amendment increases WHC PAW,growth and survival of Guava seedlings,while the effect was less pronounced for the large hydrogel particles which had lower specific surface area and swelling rate.

The gallbladder(GB)is a susceptible organ,prone to various pathologies that can be identified using different imaging *** ultrasound(TUS)is typically the initial diagnostic method due to its numerous well-established ***,in cases of uncertainty or when a definitive diagnosis cannot be established,computed tomography(CT)or magnetic resonance imaging may be employed to provide more detailed ***,CT scans may sometimes offer inadequate spatial resolution,which can limit the differentiation of GB lesions,particularly when smaller yet clinically relevant abnormalities are ***,endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)provides higher frequency compared to TUS,superior spatial resolution,and the option for contrast-enhanced harmonic imaging,enabling a more comprehensive ***,EUS can serve as a supplementary tool when conventional imaging methods are *** review will describe the standard EUS examination of the GB,focusing on its endosonographic characteristics in various GB path-ologies.

Prevalence and outcomes of polycystic kidney disease in African populations:A systematic review

BACKGROUND Polycystic kidney disease(PKD)is the most common genetic cause of kidney *** is a progressive and irreversible condition that can lead to end-stage renal disease and many other visceral *** comprehensive data on PKD patterns in Africa is *** To describe the prevalence and outcomes of PKD in the African *** A literature search of Pubmed,African journal online,and Google Scholar databases between 2000 and 2023 was *** Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and meta-Analyses were followed to design the *** presentations and outcomes of patients were extracted from the included *** Out of 106 articles,we included 13 studies from 7 African *** of them were retrospective descriptive studies concerning 943 PKD patients with a mean age of 47.9 *** accurate prevalence and incidence of PKD were not known but it represented the third causal nephropathy among dialysis *** majority of patients,the diagnosis of the disease was often *** function impairment,abdominal mass,and hypertension were the leading symptoms at presentation with a pooled prevalence of 72.1%(69.1-75.1),65.8%(62.2-69.4),and 57.4%(54.2-60.6)*** and infections were the most frequent *** was performed in few studies that revealed a high proportion of new mutations mainly in the PKD1 *** The prevalence of PKD in African populations is not clearly *** symptoms were almost present with most patients who had kidney function impairment and abdominal mass at the *** studies including genetic testing are needed to determine the burden of PKD in African populations.

Daily variation of radon gas and its short-lived progeny concentration near ground level and estimation of aerosol residence time

Atmospheric concentrations of radon（^（222）Rn） gas and its short-lived progenies^（218）Po,^（214）Pb, and^（214）Po were continuously monitored every four hours at the ground level in Jeddah city, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The measurements were performed three times every week, starting from November 2014 to October 2015. A method of electrostatic precipitation of positively charged^（218）Po and ^（214）Po by a positive voltage was applied for determining^（222）Rn gas concentration. The short-lived^（222）Rn progeny concentration was determined by using a filter holder connected with the alpha-spectrometric technique. The meteorological parameters（relative air humidity, air temperature, and wind speed） were determined during the measurements of^（222）Rn and its progeny concentrations.^（222）Rn gas as well as its short-lived progeny concentration display a daily and seasonal variation with high values in the night and early morning hours as compared to low values at noon and in the afternoon. The observed monthly atmospheric concentrations showed a seasonal trend with the highest values in the autumn/winter season and the lowest values in the spring/summer season. moreover, and in parallel with alphaspectrometric measurements, a single filter-holder was used to collect air samples. The deposited activities of^（214）Pb and the long-lived^（222）Rn daughter ^（210）Pb on the filter were measured with the gamma spectrometric technique. The measured activity concentrations of^（214）Pb by both techniques were found to be relatively equal largely. The highest mean seasonally activity concentrations of ^（210）Pb were observed in the autumn/winter season while the lowest mean were observed in the spring/summer season. The mean residence time（mRT） of aerosol particles in the atmospheric air could be estimated from the activity ratios of ^（210）Pb/^（214）Pb.
