Effect of Some Heterocyclic Deriva.ives on the Remova. of Copper Ions from Wa.tewa.er by Cementa.ion

Remova. of copper ions from copper sulpha.e solutions on a.rota.ing zinc rod in a.sence a.d in presence of 3(2H)-fura.ones a.d 4H-pyra.-4-one deriva.ives wa. investiga.ed experimenta.ly. Va.ia.les studied were initia. copper ions concentra.ion, rota.iona. speed of the zinc rod, tempera.ure a.d concentra.ion of orga.ic a.ditives. It wa. found tha. cementa.ion rea.tion is first order in presence a.d in a.sence of a.ditives. Increa.ing concentra.ion of initia. copper ions, rota.iona. speed of the zinc rod a.d tempera.ure were found to increa.e the ra.e of cementa.ion. In presence of orga.ic a.ditives a. enha.cement of the ra.e wa. observed, except in presence of methoxyfura.one the ra.e wa. found to decrea.e by a. a.ount ra.ging from 11.74% to 33.79%. Ra.e a.celera.ion or inhibition is a.socia.ed ma.nly with cha.ges in the structure of the a.ditives a. well a. its concentra.ion. The a.pa.ent a.tiva.ion energy for the cementa.ion process in presence of different a.ditives wa. estima.ed a.d wa. found to be ra.ged between 11.8 kJ/mol a.d 25.95 kJ/mol. These va.ues suggest tha. the copper remova. process in presence of these a.ditives is controlled by diffusion. a.sca.ning electron microscopy study of copper deposits obta.ned in presence of tolylfura.one, phenylpyrone a.d methoxyfura.one correla.e with their beha.iour during the kinetic study. Different rea.tion conditions a.d the physica. properties of solutions were studied to obta.n dimensionless correla.ion a.ong a.l these pa.a.eters. It wa. found tha. on a.plying cementa.ion rea.tion on a.sa.ple from industria. wa.tewa.er in presence of phenylpyrone a.out 91.9% of Cu2+ a.e removed.

The spectra. da.a.revea.ed tha. the liga.d a.ted a. a.neutra. tridenta.e coordina.ing to meta. ion through ONO donor sequence. Therma. degra.a.ion studies of the liga.d a.d its complexes showed tha. the previous la.tha.ide complexes were more therma.ly sta.le tha. the liga.d itself. The Schiff ba.e a.d its complexes were screened for their a.tiba.teria. （Escherichia.coli, Sta.hylococcus a.reus） a.d a.tifunga. （a.pergillus fla.us a.d Ca.dida.a.bica.s）.

The prepa.ed complexes were cha.a.terized by spectroscopic, element a.d therma. a.a.yses a.d D.C. conductivity mea.urements. The a.timicrobia. a.tivity of a.l the prepa.ed compounds a.a.nst gra.-positive, gra.-nega.ive a.d fungi wa. studied. From these studies, it ha. been obta.ned tha. the liga.d is bonded to the meta.s through O, N a.d S, but to pa.la.ium in [Pd (H//2L//2)] Cl//2 only through N a.d O. Biologica. studies confirm tha. the orga.ic effect on both gra.-positive a.d gra.-nega.ive ba.teria.is very wea. a.d their complexes ha.e no effect on fungi, but Cu-complex ha. strong influence on both types of ba.teria. Ma.imizing the exploita.ion of phosphogypsum wa.tes using soa.ing technique with citric a.id, recovering ra.e-ea.th a.d residua. phospha.e contents

Phosphogypsum(PG), the ma.n by-product of phosphoric a.id production industries, is considered one of the most importa.t seconda.y sources of ra.e ea.th elements(REEs). The current study focuses on the recovery of REEs content a.d the residua. phospha.e content existing in the PG with preserving on the Ca.O_(4)skeleton to be used in other va.ious a.plica.ions. These a.ta.nments a.e ca.ried out using citric a.id lea.hing process via.soa.ing technique. Severa. dissolution pa.a.eters for REEs using citric a.id were studied, including soa.ing time, soa.ing tempera.ure, citric a.id concentra.ion, solid-to-liquid ra.io, a.d recycling of the citra.e lea.hing solutions in the further REEs dissolution experiments. The best-opera.ing conditions were 14 d of soa.ing time, 7.5% citric a.id concentra.ion, a.d the solid-toliquid ra.io of 1/5 a. a.bient tempera.ure. a.out 79.57% dissolution efficiency of REEs wa. a.hieved using the optima. conditions. a.plying four soa.ing sta.es by mixing different fresh PG sa.ples with the sa.e citra.e solution sequentia.ly, cumula.ive dissolution efficiency for REEs wa. found to be 64.7% under optima. soa.ing conditions. REEs were recovered using Dowex 50X8 resin from citra.e solutions with 96% extra.tion efficiency. Dissolution kinetics proved the pseudo-first-order na.ure, reversible rea.tions, a.d two a.tiva.ion energies for a.l REEs.

The simula.ion results show tha. the proposed subca.rier-power a.loca.ion scheme ca. a.hieve high tota. system ca.a.ity a.d good fa.rness in a.loca.ing the resources to the users with slightly high computa.iona. complexity compa.ed to the existing subca.rier a.loca.ion a.gorithms.

Extra.tion of cerium(Ⅳ) using tributyl phospha.e impregna.ed resin from nitric a.id medium

Tributyl phospha.e （TBP） solvent wa. used for impregna.ion into a.berlite Xa.-16 nonionic polymeric resin bea.s using the wet method to prepa.e solvent impregna.ed resin （SIR）. Undiluted TBP in a.ra.io to the resin support （volume to ma.s） of 6.0 a. room tempera.ure （RT） in 24 h wa. impregna.ed the resin with a.ma.s ra.io of 1.944, while the prepa.ed gross sa.ple of SIR a. the ra.io of solvent to resin of 3.0 wa. impregna.ed with a.ma.s ra.io of 1.88. Cerium（Ⅳ） oxide concentra.e, prepa.ed from crude Egyptia. mona.ite sa.d, conta.ning 37% cerium, 1.6% thorium a.d a.out 40% the other triva.ent ra.e ea.th oxides, wa. used to prepa.e cerium（Ⅳ） nitra.e solution for extra.tion using the prepa.ed SIR. The impregna.ed resin wa. sa.isfa.tory for Ce（Ⅳ） extra.tion from nitric a.id medium a. room tempera.ure. Cerium loa.ing ca.a.ity of the impregna.ed resin rea.hed 95.6% of the ca.cula.ed theoretica. ca.a.ity （173 g/kg （Ce/SIR）） under the conditions of 51.57 g/L cerium a.d 2.48 g/L thorium, 5.0 mol/L free nitric a.id, solution to resin ra.io of 10.0 a.d conta.ting the pha.es for 5.0 min. The loa.ing ca.a.ity rea.hed 98.75% when cerium concentra.ion wa. increa.ed to 91.43 g/L under the sa.e conditions.
