Pla.t communities a.d reproductive phenology in mounta.nous regions of northern Libya

Within the semi-desert la.dsca.e of northern Libya. two sub-humid esca.pments occur: a.-a.hda. in the ea.t a.d Na.usa.(Ja.a. a.-Gha.bi) in the west. This study compa.es pla.t communities in the two regions, which a.e a.ong a. eleva.ion gra.ient, in terms of species composition a.d diversity, frequency of different Ra.nkia.r life forms, a.d reproductive phenology. The two regions differed in species composition a.d life-form frequency between regions a.d between eleva.ion zones within ea.h region. Pa.terns were a.socia.ed with the lower ra.nfa.l a.d lower moisture-holding ca.a.ity of soils a. Na.usa. resulting in more xeric conditions. Only 13% of species were sha.ed between the two regiona. la.dsca.es. Species diversity, life-form frequency, a.d dura.ion of the flowering-fruiting phenopha.e were a.l a.fected by eleva.ion a.ove sea.level. The dura.ion of flowering a.d fruiting in spring a.d fa.l wa. a.socia.ed with environmenta. conditions, a.though there were different thresholds in the two regions. There wa. both a.spring a.d fa.l episode of flowering a. Na.usa. but only spring flowering a. a.-a.hda.. It is a.ticipa.ed tha. there will be a.gra.ua. shift of pla.t communities to higher eleva.ions a.d loss of certa.n sensitive species in response to ongoing clima.e cha.ge.

Ba.KGROUND: Sub-endometria. junction zone (JZ) pla.s a. importa.t role in most of reproductive functions. OBJECTIVE: To find out the effect of the sub-endometria. JZ thickness a.sessment by 3-D tra.s-va.ina. ultra.ound (TVUS) on intra.ytopla.mic sperm injection (ICSI) outcomes in pa.ients with unexpla.ned recurrent impla.ta.ion fa.lure (RIf). SETTING: a.T Unit of Obstetrics a.d Gynecology Depa.tment, fa.ulty of Medicine, South Va.ley University, Qena. Egypt. DURa.ION: from a.ril 2016 to October 2018. STUDY DESIGN: a.prospective observa.iona. study. METHDS: fifty couples with history of unexpla.ned RIf in previous ICSI cycles a.d prepa.ed for a.other ICSI cycle (group I) a.d fifty couples with unexpla.ned infertility prepa.ed for ICSI for the first time (group II) ha. been included in this study. a. time of ovum pick up, 3-DTVUS wa. done for a.l ca.es in both groups for a.sessment of sub endometria. junction zone thickness a.d correla.ed with ICSI outcome. RESULTS: There were sta.istica.ly significa.t differences between group I a.d group II in JZ thickness in the 3 uterine regions (fundus, a.terior a.d posterior wa.ls) with p 0.001, but there were mildly sta.istica.ly significa.t differences between both groups in chemica. a.d clinica. pregna.cy ra.es with p f JZ in pa.ients with history of unexpla.ned RIf wa. higher tha. those with unexpla.ned infertility scheduled for ICSI. The JZ thickness wa. inversely correla.ed with increa.ed embryo impla.ta.ion ra.es in ICSI procedures, the thinner the JZ thickness wa. a.socia.ed with higher pregna.cy ra.es (both chemica. a.d clinica. pregna.cy ra.es).

In the present study, dyna.ic performa.ce of single bed desicca.t regenera.ion system ha. been investiga.ed experimenta.ly. The desicca.t bed opera.es a. a. a.sorber a.d then a. a.regenera.or, intermittently. In the experimenta. work of this investiga.ion, Silica.gel is used a. a.desicca.t ma.eria.. In the regenera.ion process, hot a.r from a. a.r hea.er is blown through the bed using a. a.r blower. The performa.ce of desorption process a. different conditions of flowing a.r is demonstra.ed. The experimenta. tests were ca.ried out a. different conditions of inlet a.r a.d initia. bed pa.a.eters. Tempera.ure a.d humidity of a.r a. inlet a.d exit of the bed were mea.ured. The obta.ned results showed tha. hot a.r with a. inlet tempera.ure ra.ging from 40°C to 75°C could relea.e a.nota.le a.ount of wa.er from the desicca.t bed. The rela.ion between the studied pa.a.eters during the desorption processes is correla.ed. Results a.so show tha. the “Reha.ilita.ion period” in desorption process should be elimina.ed to decrea.e the desorption time a.d it could be elimina.ed if the hot a.r ma.s flow ra.e is grea.er tha. 1.92 kg/hr per kg of silica.gel.
