Plant communities and reproductive phenology in mountainous regions of northern Libya

Within the semi-desert landscape of northern Libya, two sub-humid escarpments occur: Al-Akhdar in the east and Nafusa (Jabal Al-Gharbi) in the west. Th.s study compares plant communities in the two regions, which are along an elevation gradient, in terms of species composition and diversity, frequency of different Raunkiaer life forms, and reproductive phenology. The two regions differed in species composition and life-form frequency between regions and between elevation zones within each region. Patterns were associated with the lower rainfall and lower moisture-holding capacity of soils at Nafusa, resulting in more xeric conditions. Only 13% of species were shared between the two regional landscapes. species diversity, life-form frequency, and duration of the flowering-fruiting phenoph.se were all affected by elevation above sea level. The duration of flowering and fruiting in spring and fall was associated with environmental conditions, although there were different thresholds in the two regions. There was both a spring and fall episode of flowering at Nafusa, but only spring flowering at Al-Akhdar. It is anticipated that there will be a gradual shift of plant communities to higher elevations and loss of certain sensitive species in response to ongoing climate change.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Fig fruit powder and olive on hepatic,renal and splenic injury induced by 2-nitropropane(2-NP)in mice,especially if they were used in ***:A total of 40 adult BALB/c male mice weighting 25-30 g/*** were categorized into five groups(8 each).Group 1 as negative *** 2 as positive control group intraperitoneally injected with 2-NP(100 mg/kg b.w.)3 times/weekly for eight *** 3 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with Fig(300 mg/kg).Group 4 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with olive(100 mg/kg).Group 5 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with mixture of Fig and olive(3∶1 respectively).REsULTs:h.stopathological observation of liver in mice treated with 2-NP showed cellular degeneration,pyknosis,and congestion of the portal *** kidney there were disorganization of the cortical tissues,cellular necrosis and plenty of inflammatory lymphocytic *** elevations in liver function parameters(alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase),m RNA expression levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ph.sphate oxidase and cyclooxygenase were detected as anti-inflammatory markers and 5-lipoxygenase,interleukin-1βand interleukin-6 as inflammatory biomarkers for liver and spleen,also significant elevations was detected in lipid peroxidation *** levels of antioxidants,glutathione,glutathione peroxidase,catalase and superoxide dismutase were significantly ***:our findings indicated that Fig fruit powder and olive protected against hepatic,renal and splenic injury induced with 2-NP in mice,especially if they were used in combination.

The four isolates solid complexes:[La(RhC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·3h_(2)O,[Nd(RhC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·4h_(2)O,[Eu(RhC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·2h_(2)O,and[Ce(RhC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·5h_(2)O that obtained by the reaction of the nitrate salts of the Ce(Ⅲ),Eu(Ⅲ),Nd(Ⅲ)and La(Ⅲ)ions and rhodamie C(RhC)ligand were interpretative using elemental analysis(C,h and N),molar conductivity,infrared,electronic,fluorescence and 1h-NMR spectra to achieve the speculated suitable *** low molar conductance values of the synth.sized RhC complexes concluded the non-electrolytic *** infrared spectra recorded the absence of stretching vibrationν(Oh)of the—COOh and presence of two new vibration bands at 1597~1601 and 1383~1399 cm^(-1)which were assigned toνas(COO-)andνs(COO-).The difference between them revealed that the carboxylate group acts as a bidentate ligand.1hNMR spectra of Europium and lanthanum(Ⅲ)complexes were supported the FTIR results based on the absent of proton of the carboxylic ***,the microanalytical and spectroscopic results deduced that RhC acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand,and coordinated to the central metal(Ⅲ)ions via the two oxygen atoms of deprotonated carboxylic *** studies were performed on the metal complexes of Ce^(3+),Tb^(3+),Th^(4+),Gd^(3+)and La^(3+),that referred a quenching in the fluorescene intensity of rhodamine C in the aqueous state after *** antimicrobial assessment against some kind of bacteria and fungi were also checked and recorded enhancement in case of their complexes.

The cancellable biometric transformations are designed to be computationally difficult to obtain the original biometric *** paper presents a cancellable multi-biometric identification scheme that includes four stages:biometric data collection and processing,Arnold’s Cat Map encryption,decimation process to reduce the size,and finalmerging of the four biometrics in a single generated ***,a 2D matrix of size 128×128 is created based on Arnold’s Cat Map(ACM).The purpose of th.s rearrangement is to break the correlation between pixels to hide the biometric patterns and merge th.se patterns together for more *** decimation is performed to keep the dimensions of the overall cancellable template similar to th.se of a single template to avoid data ***,some sort of aliasing occurs due to decimation,contributing to the intended distortion of biometric *** hybrid structure that comprises encryption,decimation,andmerging generates encrypted and distorted cancellable *** simulation results obtained for performance evaluation show that the system is safe,reliable,and feasible as it achieves high.security in the presence of noise.

Characterization and Photocatalytic Efficiency of Palladium Doped-TiO<sub>2</sub>Nanoparticles

The effect of modification of TiO2 with different palladium concentrations on its characteristics and photocatalytic efficiency was studied. Photo catalysts were prepared by the sol-gel method and were characterized by different techniques. A uniform distribution of palladium through the TiO2 matrix was observed. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the pure and palladium doped TiO2 were found to be quiet similar and the average particle size was not significantly changed. As a result of palladium doping, the UV-Vis analysis showed a red shift in the onset of wavelength of absorbance and the band gap was changed from 3.39 to 3.06 eV for the 0.3 wt% Pd/TiO2 sample. Photo catalytic removal study of formic acid showed that the 0.3 wt% palladium doped photocatalyst exhibits the high.st efficiency among the different palladium doped photocatalysts using sun light as the radiation source.

Reishi Mushroom Attenuates hepatic Inflammation and Fibrosis Induced by Irradiation Enhanced Carbon Tetrachloride in Rat Model

Th.s work was undertaken to establish a new experimental model of hepatic fibrosis by gamma irradiation and CCl4 and to study the hepatoprotective effect of Reishi Mushroom (RM) against hepatic fibrosis induced in that model. Our results revealed that oral co-administration of 110 mg/kg RM by gavage to fibrotic rats offered an obvious hepatic protection as assured by the significant decrement in ALT and AsT, hP content, MDA and NO levels with elevation of the antioxidant enzymes activities. The levels of TGF-β, TNF-α, hO-1 and type-1 collagen and their m-RNA expression were markedly declined as compared with th.se of fibrotic rats. Microscopical examination revealed that the exposure of rats to radiation aggravated the effect of CCl4 causing extensive collagen deposition and marked pseudolobulation of the hepatic parenchyma indicative of bridging fibrosis. While, oral co-administration of RM obviously improved the state of steatosis and apparently suppressed hepatic fibrogenesis.

Timed Intercourse versus Intrauterine Insemination with Mild Ovarian stimulation for Unexplained Infertility

Background: Infertility is unexplained in about 22% - 28% of infertile couples. spontaneous pregnancy may occur in them. If did not happen, Expectant management will be via clomiphene citrate (CC) administration, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and IVF & ICsI. Aim: to assess the effectiveness of intrauterine insemination with mild controlled ovarian stimulation compared with expectant management in couples with unexplained infertility more than one year. Methods: 160 couples with unexplained infertility were selected, The couples were randomly divided into two groups: Group (A) “80 couples”: Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with mild controlled ovarian stimulation (combination of CC + hMG) using prepared semen and was performed 36 hours after hCG injection, Group (B) “80 couples”: Couples had no ovulation induction. They encouraged for timed intercourse in the most fertile days of female cycle guided by folliculometry for 6 months. Data were collected quantitatively, coded and analyzed using sPss. The power of study is 80% and 95% confidence interval. Result: The pregnancy rate was calculated in both groups: In group (A) (IUI/COs): OPR (Ongoing pregnancy rates) was 27.5% and PR (pregnancy rates)/cycle was 8.6%. In group (B) (Expectant management): OPR was 25% and PR/cycle was 5.3%. Conclusion: Mild controlled ovarian stimulation CC + hMG with IUI offers no statistical significance in terms of pregnancy outcomes over expectant management in th.s study however significance in the response to stimulation.

Role of nickel alloying on anodic dissolution behavior of zinc in 3.5% NaCl *** II:Potentiodynamic,potentiostatic and galvanostatic studies

Zinc is common metal used for steel protection from *** addition of further element,such as Ni,can modify the corrosion rate and maintain sacrificial *** anodic dissolution behavior of Zn,Ni and Zn-Ni alloys with different Ni contents（from 0.5% to 10%,mass fraction） in 3.5% Na Cl solution was investigated using potentiodynamic,potentiostatic and galvanostatic *** composition and microstructure of the corrosion layer on Zn,Ni and Zn-Ni alloys were characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis（EDX） and scanning electron microscopy（sEM）.The galvanostatic curves show that the anodic behavior of all investigated electrodes exhibits active/passive transition and the tendency of the alloys to passivity decreases with the increase in Ni content,except for 99.5Zn-0.5Ni *** the potentiodynamic curves exhibit active passive transition only for pure *** analysis reveals the presence of oxides,chlorides and metal hydroxide chloride in corrosion products,and very small cracks are observed for 90Zn-10 Ni alloy compared with that of Zn.

Doppler study of Uterine Artery and Ultrasonography of Endometrial Thickness in Perimenopausal and Postmenopausal Bleeding

Background: Transvaginal color Doppler sonography of the uterine artery h.s been reported useful for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding in peri-/post-menopausal women. It may differentiate ph.siological from malignant endometrial changes. Objective: Evaluating the endometrial thickness and uterine artery Doppler as an initial diagnostic tool to identify patients with abnormal endometrial pathology. Methods: Th.s is a prospective case control study consisted of total 50 women with peri-(n = 35) and post-(n = 15) menopausal bleeding, with 20 women consisting control group (no bleeding) (peri-(n = 10) and post-menopausal (n = 10)). Double layer endometrial thickness and uterine-artery-Doppler waveforms were measured, with the latter being s/D ratio, RI and PI. Th.se were related to h.stological findings (endometrial biopsy). Result: Patients with abnormal uterine bleeding (both peri- and postmenopausal) had a significantly higher mean endometrial thickness than the control women. study group showed a significantly lower value of all Doppler indices (s/D ratio, RI and PI). In study group, patients with malignant endometrial pathology showed significantly thicker endometrium and significantly lower Doppler indices than th.se with benign pathology. Conclusion: The combination of endometrial thickness and uterine artery color Doppler pattern might predict uterine endometrial malignancy, although whether it can discriminate (screen) patients requiring endometrial biopsy is not evident. Further study is needed.
