The adverse effects of eutrophication have prompted the use of various remediation techniques for phosphate(PO_(4)^(3-))removal owing to it being the major causative ***,the influence of different solvents and ratios of 2-aminoterepthalicacid on the efficiency of magnetic biomass metal-organic framework composites based on the in situ growth of NH_(2)-MIL-101(Fe)onto magnetized peanut husks towards PO_(4)^(3-)removal was assessed via the adsorption *** magnetic biocomposite labelled as MPN@NH2-MIL-101(Fe)exhibited the best efficiency owing to its mesoporous structures and presence of abundant oxygen and nitrogen possessing functional *** results confirmed MPN@NH2-MIL-101(Fe)to have a high adsorption capacity of(14.0±0.3)mg·L^(-1)at a PO43-concentration of 20 mg·L^(-1)with an associated high stability within pH *** adsorption kinetics for the process was well described by both Elovich and pseudo-second-order kinetic models and was mediated by both internal diffusion and liquid film *** Temkin and Freundlich models fitted the equilibrium data well signifying occurrence of both physical and chemical adsorption on a heterogeneous *** is concluded that MPN@NH2-MIL-101(Fe)is a promising adsorbent for the effective removal of phosphate from a water body.

Access to fresh water,its availability,and its quality are a global challenge to humanity,largely due to human activities in the ***,global water security has been jeopardized,requiring urgent remediation to safeguard our very ***,a novel and facilely engineered zirconium and polyethylenimine adsorbent based on tiger nut residue (TNR) was prepared,and its adsorptive capabilities towards a model dyestuff and nutrient were invested through a batch adsorption *** developed adsorbent,zirconium-polyethylenimine-engineered tiger nut residue (TNR@PEI–Zr) was characterised by scanning electron microscopy,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to understand its morphology and surface chemistry and predict its adsorption ***@PEI–Zr had a p H point of zero charge (pH_(zpc)) of *** introduction of salts inhibited the removal efficiency of Alizarin red (AR) and phosphate (PO_(4)^(3–)) in the order of HCO_(3)^(-)>SO_(4)^(2–)>Cl^(-).Increasing temperatures (293–313 K) favoured the adsorption process at pH *** Langmuir model suited the adsorption processes of both AR and PO_(4)^(3–),implying homogenous and monolayer removal of pollutants with a maximal capacity of 537.8 mg·g^(-1)and 100.5 mg·g^(-1)at a dose of 0.01 g,*** rate-determining steps of AR and PO_(4)^(3–)followed a pseudo-secondorder kinetic model and were thermodynamically spontaneous with an increase in randomness at the solid-solution *** adsorbent’s recyclability was notable and outperformed most adsorbents in terms of removal ***@PEI–Zr was found to be stable,and its use in practical wastewater decontamination was effective,ecologically acceptable and free of secondary pollution problems.

Intracellular pH plays a significant role in various biological processes, including cell proliferation,apoptosis, metabolism, enzyme activity and homeostasis. In this work, a novel design strategy for the preparation of pH responsive carbon dots(CDs-pH) for ratiometric intracellular imaging was reported. By using SciFinder database, fluorescent CDs-pH with the required p Kavalue of 6.84 were rationally designed, which is vital important for precise sensing of intracellular pH. As a result, the synthesized CDspH demonstrated robust ability to test pH fluctuations within the physiological range of 5.4-7.4. The CDspH was further utilized for fluorescent ratiometric imaging of pH in living HeLa cells, effectively avoided the influence of autofluorescence from native cellular species. Moreover, real-time monitoring of intracellular pH fluctuation under heat shock was successfully realized. This SciFinder-guided design strategy is simple and flexible, which has a great potential to be used for the development of other types of CDs for various applications.

Dear Editor, y-Aminobutyric acid （GABA） is a non-protein amino acid （AA） metabolized via the GABA shunt; a three-enzyme pathway that includes glutamate decarboxylase （GAD）, GABA transaminases （GABA-T）, and succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase （SSADH）（Bown and Shelp, 1997; Bouch~ and Fromm, 2004）. The majority of work on GABA, to date, has focused on its role as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in mammals. In plants, however, due to its intermediate posi- tion between carbon （C） and nitrogen （N）, the metabolism of GABA has been suggested as a modulator of C-N balance （Fair et al., 2008）. In addition, the numerous observations of a rapid accumulation of GABA in response to （a）biotic stresses has prompted different hypotheses to be postu- lated on its role including a regulator of cytosolic pH and a herbivore deterrent （Bouche and Fromm, 2004; Roberts, 2007）. Additionally, a signaling role has been hypothesized in plants, though evidence remains elusive and the debate on the dual function of GABA as a signaling molecule and as a metabolite in plants remains ongoing. In the present work, we report changes in the metabolite and transcript profiles in Arabidopsis seedlings exposed to exogenous GABA. Liquid-grown seedlings were cultured under C and N limitation to reveal a possible role of GABA as either C or N substrate and to ascertain its influence on transcriptional programs.

本论文对于蒙古历史身份这一概念提出了质疑,力图通过考量国家形成对蒙古身份构建的复杂影响,推翻过去对此过于简单化和单一化的概念。一直以来,在研究文献中,自蒙古帝国到清代的蒙古身份认同被想当然地认为是不言自明的。实际上,不论是蒙古人所属的政治形态,还是蒙古作为一个独立族群或是属于一个政权时所具有的民族成分,都在此期间发生了巨大改变。本文大量借鉴了弗莱德·斯皮尔(Fred Spier)和Virginia Tilley的理论,同时参考与国家形成相关的人类学、政治科学理论。其中,斯皮尔有关"制度"的概念提供了一个概念性的框架,将乍一看来对蒙古身份认同相互矛盾的种种阐释结合在一起,同时又做到多方兼顾,避免了以偏概全。人类学的相关理论(主要来自Nikolay Kradin和Tatiana Skrynnikova)以及Tilley的理论,则将联系政体的具体变化与演进,而这又与部分蒙古族群身份转变的模式密切相关。进而言之,笔者将在本文中论证政体的形成作为关键性事件,是以现有的身份认同矩阵为基础,又在此基础上创造了新的层面。本文利用三个案例阐明国家形成在不同的历史、政治背景下对于蒙古族群的影响。第一个案例将蒙古国的形成至蒙古帝国的建立作为时间上的范围。笔者在这一章节中指出,与过去史料对于蒙古国建立过程的认知相反,亲缘关系并非当时蒙古民族身份的唯一决定因素。同时,这一章节还考察了由于归顺于这个新的政体的部落被从根本上认定为"蒙古人",第一个蒙古政权的形成是如何危及被归于"蒙古人"这个大身份之下的政权外人民的身份的。然而,已经形成的身份认同并不能被彻底抹去。各个部落的名称与血脉在早期仍然被保留下来,最后逐渐才在权力争夺中消逝。更重要的是,正是更早之前统治着蒙古大草原的克烈为蒙古新的政治身份的形成打下基础,旧有的身份认同从未被消除。第二个案例分析以投降明朝的蒙古人为主体,说明身处一个非蒙古人政权中的蒙古人民内心的身份矩阵所经历的独特转变。本章节意在表现与其他早期现代政权一样,明朝试图将统治范围内的所有民众进行分类管理。这种方式直接影响了那些与明朝命运休戚与共的蒙古人。他们被赋予了一个官僚身份,称作"达",以此表明他们明朝、蒙古的双重身份。然而这一官僚政治身份并非理所当然。当时存在着一系列"胡、虏、蕃、寇、鞑靼"等外族身份,唯有朝中最忠诚的官员才有资格被授予"达"的称号。介于其间的则是"蒙古、鞑靼(有时)"这一身份。人们能够通过自身具体行为跨越这些身份之间的界限。此外,本章节还指出军户管理制度反映并加强了这种新的身份,虽然这一身份是被明朝强加于己的,当时的蒙古臣民却颇为合作地照其行事。另一方面,有关宁夏之役的研究告诉我们,明朝所强加于蒙古人的身份是极为灵活的,既可以被用作手段,也可以被当初目的。尽管如此,有明一代的蒙古人还是形成了一个独特的、可见的群体,由于与明朝的从属关系,他们拥有着不同于草原上蒙古人的身份。最后一个案例研究分析了八旗蒙古。上一个章节主要强调了在早期现代国家官僚化的重要性及其对明朝所属的蒙古部落的影响,而本章节则注重探究了清朝皇权至上的意识形态与八旗制度对蒙古身份的作用。首先,笔者考察了在入主中原之前促成满蒙两族之间联盟的潜在的文化、政治共性。同为亚洲内陆民族,两者共有的骑射和狩猎传统为联盟提供了媒介。然而在定鼎中原以后,由于日益强大的皇权试图控制清朝族群成分并按照他们所理解的地方传统进行统治,蒙古八旗逐渐沦至从属地位。蒙古八旗虽然接受满洲人的统治,却仍被完全当作蒙古人来对待,可以说是一个特例。这就造成了如下境况:蒙古八旗与满洲八旗一样形成了所谓旗人的身份,但是同时保留了他们独特的蒙古身份,包括尚武精神、蒙语以及蒙古历史与血统。这一点可以从蒙古对清朝科举制度的参与中得到明证。在蒙古八旗的身份认同中,同时存在着旗人、蒙古人以及部分汉人文化身份。本章节的最后部分则于清朝蒙古身份一个更为宏观的层面着手,这一层面对蒙古八旗产生影响:清朝时期蒙古身份有两个重要的来源:一是藏传佛教,二是成吉思汗祭祀。两者结合使得清朝的皇权统治名正言顺,符合草原民族的传统。这些因素同时汇于清朝皇帝一身,更使得蒙古人发展出了新一层次的身份认同:蒙古的清朝人。最后,本论文得出以下结论:对于一个人口众多的历史族群身份,试图扼要阐述往往是极不准确的。任何一个特定族群的身份必须根据当时的特定历史情境做出解释。在蒙古身份认同转变这一具体案例中,国家的形成在不同的历史阶段、在不同的政体之下都显示了对蒙古族群身份认同转变的巨大影响力。

Microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration （MESA） refers to retrieval of sperm-containing fluid from optimal areas of the epididymis that are selected and sampled using high-power optical magnification provided by an operating microscope. Retrieved sperm are subsequently used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） to induce fertilization and pregnancy. MESA is considered by many experts to be the gold standard technique for sperm retrieval in men with obstructive azoospermia given its high yield of quality sperm, excellent reported fertilization and pregnancy rates, and low risk of complications. However, MESA must be performed in an operating room, requires microsurgical skills and is only useful for reproduction using ICSI. Herein we present an overview of the evaluation of candidate patients for MESA, the technical performance of the procedure and the outcomes that have been reported.

Liver infections with hepatotropic viruses, such as hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus are accompanied by viral persistence and immune failure. CD8＋ T cells are crucial mediators of the intrahepatic antiviral immune response. Chronic infections of the liver and other organs correlate with T-cell exhaustion. It was previously suggested that high antigen load could result in T-cell exhaustion. We aimed at elucidating the impact of different intrahepatic antigen loads on the quality of CD8＋ T-cell-mediated immunity by employing an infection-free transgenic mouse model expressing ovalbumin （Ova） as the target antigen. Adoptive transfer of OT-I cells induced a transient intrahepatic immune response toward both high and low Ova levels. However, antigen clearance was achieved only in mice expressing low antigen levels. In contrast, T cells exposed to high antigen levels underwent exhaustion and became depleted, causing antigen persistence. Moreover, when functional T cells were exposed to high intrahepatic antigen levels, a complete transition toward exhaustion was observed. Thus, this study shows that the antigen expression level in the liver correlates inversely with T-cell immunity in vivo and governs the efficiency of immune responses upon antigen presentation.

Hallux rigidus is a degenerative disease of the first metatarsalphalangeal(MTP) joint and affects 2.5% of people over age 50. Dorsal osteophytes and narrowed joint space leads to debilitating pain and limited range of motion. Altered gait mechanics often ensued as 119% of the body force transmit through the 1^(st) MTP joint during gait cycle. Precise etiology remains under debate with trauma being often cited in the literature. Hallux valgus interphalangeus, female gender, inflammatory and metabolic conditions have all been identified as associative factors. Clinical symptoms, physical exam and radiographic evidence are important in assessing and grading the disease. Non-operative managements including nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, intraarticular injections, shoe modification, activity modification and physical therapy, should always be attempted for all hallux rigidus patients. The goal of surgery is to relieve pain, maintain stability of the first MTP joint, and improve function and quality of life. Operative treatments can be divided into joint-sparing vs joint-sacrificing. Cheilectomy and moberg osteotomy are examples of joint-sparing techniques that have demonstrated great success in early stages of hallux rigidus. Arthrodesis is a joint-sacrificing procedure that has been the gold standard for advanced hallux rigidus. Other newer procedures such as implant arthroplasty, interpositional arthroplasty and arthroscopy, have demonstrated promising early patient outcomes. However, future studies are still needed to validate its long-term efficacy and safety. The choice of procedure should be based on the condition of the joint, patient's goal and expectations, and surgeon's experience with the technique.
