Liver-adipose tissue crosstalk in alcohol-associated liver disease: The role of mTOR

The post-embryonic growth of the Arabidopsis thaliana root system can be modified by different types of stress,such as sublethal concentrations of metals,which may induce the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS).In this study,the effects of different concentrations of potassium chromate(K_(2)CrO_(4))on the distribution and relative quantity of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))were determined in primary and adventitious roots in *** HyPer line *** line has a biosensor that specifically reports H_(2)O_(2) levels within tissues as *** root growth was inhibited at 100μM Cr(VI);in contrast,adventitious root formation was induced over the main root growth *** structures proliferated from 100-160μM Cr(VI),and much higher concentrations(180-200μM)of K_(2)CrO_(4) were required to affect their *** H_(2)O_(2) distributions were observed in the columella and lateral root cap of primary roots of plants grown in medium lacking dichromate,but following the development of toxicity symptoms,H_(2)O_(2) changed its distribution to the meristem and differentiation ***,adventitious roots had comparable H_(2)O_(2) distribution patterns in untreated plants and those exposed to Cr(VI)***,differential H_(2)O_(2) distribution correlates with the resistance of adventitious roots,but not primary roots,to dichromate and underlies cell reorganization at the apex to support growth.

The role of tropical forests in the global carbon budget remains controversial,as carbon emissions from deforestation are highly *** high uncertainty arises from the use of either fixed forest carbon stock density or maps generated from satellite-based optical reflectance with limited sensitivity to biomass to generate accurate estimates of emissions from *** space missions aiming to accurately map the carbon stock density rely on direct measurements of the spatial structures of forests using lidar and *** found that lost forests are special cases,and their spatial structures can be directly measured by combining archived data acquired before and after deforestation by space missions principally aimed at measuring ***,using biomass mapping,we obtained new estimates of carbon loss from deforestation ahead of forthcoming space ***,using a high-resolution map of forest loss and the synergy of radar and lidar to estimate the aboveground biomass density of forests,we found that deforestation in the 2000s in Latin America,one of the severely deforested regions,mainly occurred in forests with a significantly lower carbon stock density than typical mature forests.

We present the structural,morphological and photocatalytic properties of stretchable composites made with carbon nanotubes (CNTs),silicon rubber and ni@TiO_(2):W nanoparticles(TiWni NPs) with average size of 37±2 *** images showed that the TiWni NPs decorated the surface of the CNT fibers,which are oriented in a preferential *** NPs presented a mixture of anatase/rutile phases with cubic *** performance of the TiWni powders and stretchable composites was evaluated for the photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac (DCF) anti-inflammatory drug under ultraviolet-visible *** results revealed that the maximum DCF degradation percentages were 34.6%,91.9%,97.1%,98.5%and 100%for the CNT composite (stretched at 0%),TiWni powders,CNT+TiWni(stretched at 0%),CNT+TiWni (stretched at 50%) and CNT+TiWni (stretched at 100%),***,stretching the CNT+TiWni composites was a good strategy to enhance the DCF degradation percentage from 97.1%to 100%,since stretching created additional defects (oxygen vacancies) that acted as electron sink,delaying the electron-hole recombination,and favors the DCF ***/absorbance measurements confirmed the presence of such ***,the reactive oxygen species (ROS) were determined by the scavenger’s experiments and found that the main ROS were the·OH and O_(2)-radicals,which attacked the DCF molecules,causing their *** results of this investigation confirmed that the stretchable CNT/TiWni-based composites are a viable alternative to remove pharmaceutical contaminants from water and can be manually separated from the decontaminated water,which is unviable using photocatalytic powders.

Tribological performance of iron- and nickel-base self-lubricating claddings containing metal sulfides at high temperature

Iron-based coatings with the incorporation of solid lubricants have been prepared by means of laser cladding,in an effort to control friction and decrease tool wear at high temperatures during metal forming *** choice of a Fe-based powder has been considered advantageous,as it can lead to decreased costs compared to nickel-based claddings previously studied by the authors,in addition to having a lower environmental *** particular,the incorporation of transition metal dichalcogenides such as MoS_(2) as precursors leads to the encapsulation of silver in Fe-based self-lubricating claddings,resulting in a uniform distribution of the soft metal across the thickness of the *** tribological evaluation of the claddings at high temperatures shows that the addition of lubricious compounds leads to lower friction at room temperature and significantly decreased wear up to 600℃ compared to the unmodified iron-based reference alloy,although higher than similar self-lubricating ni-based *** order to cast light into these observed differences,the corresponding microstructures,phase composition,and self-lubricating mechanisms have been studied and compared for Fe-and ni-based claddings having both of them the addition of silver and MoS_(2).The results suggest a key role of the formation of protective tribolayers on the counter body during high temperature sliding *** simulation of the phase evolution during solidification reveals that the formation of different chromium-and nickel-based metal sulfides in Fe-and ni-claddings during laser cladding by the decomposition of MoS_(2) plays a key role in determining their tribological behaviour at high temperatures.

Primary crystallization process of rapidly solidified Al-ni-Cu-Nd metallic glasses under continuous heating regime

Rapidly solidified Al 87 ni 7Cu 3Nd 3 metallic glasses were prepared by using melt spinning. Its calorimetric behavior was characterized by using differential scanning calorimeter. The metallic glasses were partially crystallized under continuous heating regime. Primary crystallization was studied through structural characterization of the amorphous and partially crystallized ribbons by means of conventional X ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy with selected area electron diffraction. The results show that, the as spun ribbons are fully amorphous and homogeneous on the micron scale, but contain high density of nanoscale quenched in clusters or crystallite embryos. Primary crystallization mainly leads to formation of two phase mixture of α Al nanocrystalline and residual amorphous phase. Precipitation of α Al nanoparticles is limited by build up and overlapped diffusion field of solute atoms with low diffusion rate. At the earlier stage of primary crystallization the crystal nuclei exhibit high density and growth rate. With the α Al crystal growing, the crystal growth rate decreases, and even at the later stage further crystallization into α Al crystal becomes difficult to occur due to thermal stabilization of the residual nickel and neodymium enriched amorphous phase, the saturated values of crystallized volume fraction and α Al crystal diameter getting to 20%30% and 515 nm.

In the present study, rapidly solidified ribbons of Al87 ni7Cu3 Nd3 metallic glass was prepared by usingmelt spinning. Devitrification process of the totally amorphous ribbons was investigated by high temperature X-raydiffraction analysis, combining with differential scanning calorimetry, under continuous and isothermal heating re-gime. The X-ray diffraction intensity and full width at the half maximum (FWHM) were analyzed to investigate theincrease of crystallized amount and growth of α-Al crystal particles. The results show that under continuous heatingregime, the metallic glass devitrifies via two main stages: primary crystallization, resulting in two-phase mixture ofα-Al plus residual amorphous phase, and secondary crystallization, corresponding to rapid precipitation of some in-ter-metallic phases in the form of dispersion or eutectic mixture. Under isothermal heating regime, only Al crystalprecipitates from the Al-rich amorphous matrix at low temperature, and when heating at 280 ℃ only Al crystal pre-cipitates within a short time, and then Al8 Cu4 Nd forms, followed by Al3 ni, in the residual amorphous phase. Whenheating at higher temperature or for longer time, Aln Nd3 forms, the amorphous phase disappears, and the ribbonsdevelop into polycrystalline morphologies with multiply phase mixture of a-Al, Al8 Cu4 Nd, Al3 ni, and Al11 Nd3.

Rapidly solidified Al87ni7Cu3Nd3 metallic glasses, prepared by using melt spinning, were treated under both isothermal and non-isothermal regime. The amorphous ribbon and the annealed samples were closely examined by means of differential scanning calorimetric, conventional X-ray diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscopy with selected-area electron diffraction, with special interest in primary crystallization into α-Al nanocrystalline particles, in order to understand structural characteristics of Al-based amorphous/nanocrystalline alloys, and nucleation and grain growth mechanism on the nanometer scale during primary crystallization. The results show that, the as-prepared ribbons are fully amorphous and homogeneous in the micron scale, but contain high density of quenched-in clusters or crystallite embryos. Primary crystallization mainly leads to formation of two-phase mixture of a-Al crystal and residual amorphous phase. The annealed ribbons exposed isother-mally at HOP C for 5, 130 minutes and heated continuously up to less than 310℃ at 40℃ C/min consist of large amount of α-Al fcc crystal nanoparticles dispersed uniformly in an amorphous matrix. However, a very little amount of finer orthorhombic Al3ni intermetalics particles exist in the annealed ribbons heated up to 310℃. During primary crystallization, the leading kinetic mechanics to impede growth of the α-Al crystal is soft impingement, instead of geometric impingement.
