Diabetes,as a metabolic disorder,is accompanied with several gastrointestinal(GI)symptoms,like abdominal pain,gastroparesis,diarrhoea or *** and complex enteric nervous system damage is confirmed in the background of these diabetic motility *** anatomical length of the GI tract,as well as genetic,developmental,structural and functional differences between its segments contribute to the distinct,intestinal region-specific effects of *** observations support and highlight the importance of a regional approach in diabetes-related enteric *** large and microvessels are essential for the blood supply of enteric *** morpho-functional linkage exists between enteric neurons and enteroglia,however,there is also a reciprocal communication between enteric neurons and immune cells on which intestinal microbial composition has crucial *** this point of view,it is more appropriate to say that enteric neurons partake in multidirectional communication and interact with these key players of the intestinal *** interplays may differ from segment to segment,thus,the microenvironment of enteric neurons could be considered strictly *** goal of this review is to summarize the main tissue components and molecular factors,such as enteric glia cells,interstitial cells of Cajal,gut vasculature,intestinal epithelium,gut microbiota,immune cells,enteroendocrine cells,prooxidants,antioxidant molecules and extracellular matrix,which create and determine a gut region-dependent neuronal environment in diabetes.

Ceria-based single-atom catalysts present complex electronic structures due to the dynamic electron transfer between the metal atoms and the semiconductor oxide *** these materials implies retrieving all states in these electronic ensembles,which can be limiting if done via density functional ***,we propose a data-driven approach to obtain a parsimonious model identifying the appearance of dynamic charge transfer for the single atoms(SAs).We first constructed a database of(701)electronic configurations for the group 9–11 metals on CeO_(2)(100).Feature Selection based on predictive Elastic Net and Random Forest models highlights eight fundamental variables:atomic number,ionization potential,size,and metal coordination,metal–oxygen bond strengths,surface strain,and Coulomb *** these variables a Bayesian algorithm yields an expression for the adsorption energies of SAs in ground and low-lying excited *** work paves the way towards understanding electronic structure complexity in metal/oxide interfaces.

This paper presents a properly designed branchcurrent based state estimator(BCBSE)used as the main core ofan accurate fault location approach(FLA)devoted to distribution *** to the approaches available in the literature,it uses only a limited set of conventional measurementsobtained from smart meters to accurately locate faults at busesor branches without requiring measurements provided by phasor measurement units(pMUs).This is possible due to themethods used to model the angular reference and the faultedbus,in addition to the proper choice of the weights in the stateestimator(SE).The proposed approach is based on a searchingprocedure composed of up to three stages:①the identificationof the faulted zones;②the identification of the bus closest tothe fault;and③the location of the fault itself,searching onbranches connected to the bus closest to the ***,this paper presents a comprehensive assessment of the proposedapproach,even considering the presence of distributed generation,and a sensitivity study on the proper weights required bythe SE for fault location purposes,which can not be found inthe *** show that the proposed BCBSE-basedFLA is robust,accurate,and aligned with the requirements ofthe traditional and active distribution networks.

The broke of a tailings dam from Vale S.A. destroyed a gigantic area killing 270 persons in Brumadinho/Brazil. Organizing activities after a mass disaster is a complex process that requires the involvement of many people and resources in the laboratory. To DNA identification of the victims, a daunting work had to be made by DNA laboratory staff in a collaborative effort with many partners. Efforts to implement good practice guidelines in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) have revealed several important aspects that need to change in the forensic DNA laboratory. This article highlights the challenges of implementing DVI best practice guidelines in resource-poor settings, but with professionals from different sectors engaged in the same goal of briefly identifying victims and helping families and society.

Inflammation and its effects in the bone marrow microenvironment represent a paradigmatic condition in which the hematopoietic niche and the immune systems,thought to properly sustain blood cell production and distinguish between friend and foe,can actively sustain a corrupted neighborhood within a chronic aberrant inflamed *** bone marrow niche hijacks the physiologic *** interactions between the hematopoietic stem cells and the niche in the bone marrow are critical determinants of *** examined several approaches to confront the available evidence;three key points emerged,pointing to the chronic inflammation process,especially the chronic infection and systemic inflammatory states,as leading causes of hematopoietic stem cell *** hematopoiesis,defined as a relative expansion of individual clones,is caused by somatic alterations in essential hematopoietic genes,which increase stem cell ***,terminal differentiation plays a significant role in progenitor loss and inflammatory signaling,promoting clonal selection and clonal hematopoiesis *** myeloid malignancies as paradigmatic examples are discussed as a condition associated with inflammation,including the 5q-syndrome,philadelphia negative myeloproliferative neoplasms,and chronic myeloid *** with increased fitness and hematopoietic stem cell attrition,extrinsic stress,enhanced stressor-specific fitness,and intrinsic defect across the hematopoietic process represent the route for novel insights in defective *** discussion in this review also points out that the hematopoietic niches’inflammatory stimulation may affect differentiation patterns and the function of downstream cells.

The brown mussel perna perna(Linnaeus,1758)is a valuable resource for aquaculture in tropical and subtropical coastal *** presents desirable characteristics for biomonitoring,including being sessile,widely distributed and abundant,and is a filter-feeder able to accumulate several classes of pollutants(e.g.,metals,hydrocarbons,among others).Mussels’biological responses to pollution exposure can be measured as biomarkers,which include alterations ranging from molecular to physiological levels,to estimate the degree of environmental contamination and its effects on *** full review compiles two decades(2000–2020)of literature concerning biological effects on *** mussel caused by environmental pollutants(i.e.,metals,hydrocarbons,and emerging pollutants),considering environmental and farm-based *** markers related to mussels’oxidative status were efficient for the biomonitoring of metals(i.e.,antioxidant enzymes associated with oxidative damage in biomolecules).Genotoxicity and cytotoxicity indicators(i.e.,comet,micronucleus,and neutral red assays)provided a depiction of hydrocarbon *** neutral red assay gave a time-concentration cytotoxic response to a wide range of pollutants,including emerging pollutants(e.g.,pharmaceuticals and biocides)and *** perna hemocyte parameters provided a useful approach for biocide *** paper summarizes useful biomarkers from molecular to physiological levels in this mussel species used to identify and quantify the degree of coastal *** integrated biomarker analysis may provide a way to overcome possible biomarker variations and assess multi-polluted ***,it is necessary to investigate biomarker variations according to natural factors(e.g.,season and gonad maturation stage)to standardize them for trustworthy biomonitoring.

Evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine (pinus sylvestris L.) in Europe based on molecular markers

In this review we summarized recent historical records and molecular studies on evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine with focus on the European highly fragmented distribution area of the species. Fossilized pollen, plant micro- and macrofossil records provided evidences on the large-scale species’ range shifts and demographic changes during the Quaternary. populations of Scots pine were documented both in the glacial (incl. full glaciation) and interglacial periods. Recolonization of Europe after the glaciation originated from the (Sub) Mediterranean areas like the Balkan peninsula but also from around the Eastern Alps and the surroundings of the Danube plain. Fennoscandia and northern European Baltic regions were most probably colonized from two main directions, from Western Europe and from the Russian plain. Modern history of Scots pine was hardly affected by anthropogenic activities that started to strengthen in the Bronze and Iron Age. Along with the fossil records, molecular genetic tools were used to infer the origin and putative history including migration, differentiation and demography of the species. In this paper we compiled the major publications (30) of molecular genetic studies of the past 20 years derived from distinctly inherited organelle genomes (mitochondrial, chloroplast, nuclear) revealed by different marker systems (mtDNA-cox1, -nad1, -nad3, -nad7, ISSR, cpSSR, nSSR, B-SAp, SNp). It is important to consider that different phylogeographic patterns can be drawn by the analysis of different DNA marker types. Accordingly the use of more than one marker simultaneously outlines the most sophisticated phylogeographical pattern on the genetic lineages and can reveal high differentiation of the European distribution. Combined marker systems and markers derived from coding sequences have also been used to detect species’ phylogeographic patterns, but these were rarely applied to Scots pine.
