An efficient descriptor model for fast screening of potential materials for solar cell applications is *** works for both excitonic and non-excitonic solar cells materials,and in addition to the energy gap it includes the absorption spectrum(α(E))of the *** charge transport properties of the explored materials are modelled using the characteristic diffusion length(Ld)determined for the respective family of *** presented model surpasses the widely used Scharber model developed for bulk heterojunction solar *** published experimental data,we show that the presented model is more accurate in predicting the achievable *** model both excitonic and non-excitonic systems,two different sets of parameters are used to account for the different modes of *** analysis of the presented descriptor model clearly shows the benefit of includingα(E)and Ld in view of improved screening results.

Investigation on ²²⁶Ra, ²³⁸Th, 40⁴⁰K and ¹³⁷Cs Concentrations in Common Polishing Materials Consumed by Inhabitants in Saudi Arabia

Knowledge of radioactivity present in polishing materials enables one to assess any possible radiological risks to human health. In this work, the radioactivity due to the presence of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 37Cs has been measured in polishing materials con-sumed in Saudi Arabia using gamma spectrometry with HPGe. The activity concentra-tions of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs ranged from 13.61 ± 0.005 to 0.60 ± 0.002, 18.43 ± 0.003 to 0.78 ± 0.001, 342.59 ± 0.009 to 2.47 ± 0.001 and 1.47 ± 0.001 to 0.55 ± 0.001 Bq/l, respectively. For 226Ra and 40K, the highest values are measured in stainless steel polisher. The highest values also measured in metal polisher (copper-chrome) and disinfectant cleaner and polisher sample for 232Th and 137Cs. Radium equivalent activ-ity due to the natural radioactivity of the investigated samples ranged from 51.37 to 1.24 Bq/l. This value is less than the recommended values in the established standards. The evaluated data were compared with the literature data. Our results indicate that no significant radiological hazards arise from using investigated samples hence quite safe to be used as polishing materials.

The Tor dark web network has been reported to provide a breeding ground for criminals and fraudsters who are exploiting the vulnerabilities in the network to carry out illicit and unethical *** network has unfortunately become a means to perpetuate crimes like illegal drugs and firearm trafficking,violence and terrorist activities among *** government and law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to control the misuse of Tor *** is a study in the similar league,with an attempt to suggest a link-based ranking technique to rank and identify the influential hidden services in the Tor dark *** proposed method considers the extent of connectivity to the surface web services and values of the centrality metrics of a hidden service in the web graph for *** modified PageRank algorithm is used to obtain the overall rankings of the hidden services in the *** graph metrics were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique with other commonly known ranking procedures in *** proposed ranking technique is shown to produce good results in identifying the influential domains in the tor network.

The Common Causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in Northern Saudi Arabia

Background: Several psychological factors have been linked to the etiology of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The aim of the present study was to assess the burden of psychological factors (anxiety, depression, and working status) in the etiology of IBS in Northern Saudi Arabia. Methodology: Data regarding IBS were attained from 930 Saudi volunteers existing in the city of Hail, Northern Saudi Arabia. A purposeful questionnaire was developed and used to obtain the required data. Each questionnaire was completed by a medical student in the course of the interview. Results: IBS symptoms were recognized in 46% of the study population of whom 38% were males and 62% were females. The risk of anxiety as a risk for IBS was statistically significant. The relative risk and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) = RR (95% CI) = 1.4801 (1.2608 to 1.7376), P Conclusion: IBS and IBS related symptoms are prevalent in Northern Saudi Arabia. IBS symptoms are significantly associated with anxiety, depression and to a lesser extent may be linked to occupation and daily working hours.

Heavy Metals Phytoremediation and Its Impact on Photosynthetic Pigments and Metabolic Content in Some Plant Species Grown in the Streets of Jeddah Governorate, Saudi Arabia

In Jeddah governorate, increased industrialization, urbanization and vehicular traffic may raise levels of heavy metals in the air and soil, threatening food safety and human health. Roadside vegetation traffic barriers might be an effective way to enhance roadside air quality and reduce human exposure to vehicular pollution. This study was conducted in order to uncover the best-cultivated plant species for purifying polluted air in terms of environmental parameters. The samples for this study were obtained from several locations throughout Jeddah governorate streets. The main causes of air pollution in the study area are traffic and automobile emissions. Photosynthetic pigments, soluble sugars, soluble protein, amino acids, and proline in plant extracts were investigated in the plant species used in this study. Also, the ionic composition (K, Na Ca and Mg), as well as the heavy metals (Zn, Cr, Ni, Cd, Pb, Co and Ba) in the sampling sites, as well as roots and leaves of the collected plant samples were all assessed. Plant examination revealed that I. coccinea possessed the highest value of Chl b, amino acid, prolin, soluble proteins and sugars, while T. stans exhibited the highest amount of Chl a, carotenoids. Furthermore, the most common contaminants in all sites were Zn, Ba, and Ni, with Zn and Ba being the most actively accumulated in the leaves of the studied plants. The findings revealed that the root of C. lancifolius is a powerful phytoaccumulator of Zn, Ni, and Co. In addition, C. lancifolius , I. coccinea , Z. spina-christi , and B. spectabilis were shown to exhibit high accumulating potential of various polluting metals in their roots. Also, Zn, Ba, Ni, and Cr were the most efficiently transmitted metals to the leaves of the studied plants. Consequently, these plant species can be employed in phytoremediation approaches at contaminated sites.

Clinical epidemiology of ulcerative colitis in Arabs based on the Montréal classification

AIM:To determine the clinical,epidemiological and phenotypic characteristics of ulcerative colitis(UC)in Saudi Arabia by studying the largest cohort of Arab UC ***:Data from UC patients attending gastroenterology clinics in four tertiary care centers in three cities between September 2009 and September 2013were entered into a validated web-based registry,inflammatory bowel disease information system(IBDIS).The IBDIS database covers numerous aspects of inflammatory bowel *** characteristics,disease phenotype and behavior,age at diagnosis,course of the disease,and extraintestinal manifestations were ***:Among 394 UC patients,males comprised51.0%and females 49.0%.According to the Montréal classification of age,the major chunk of our patients belonged to the A2 category for age of diagnosis at17-40 years(68.4%),while 24.2%belonged to the A3category for age of diagnosis at>40 *** to the same classification,a majority of patients had extensive UC(42.7%),35.3%had left-sided colitis and29.2%had only ***,51.3%were in remission,16.6%had mild UC,23.4%had moderate UC and 8.6%had severe *** relapse occurred in17.4%patients,infrequent relapse in 77%and 4.8%had chronic disease.A majority(85.2%)of patients was steroid *** regard to extraintestinal manifestations,arthritis was present in 16.4%,osteopenia in 31.4%,osteoporosis in 17.1%and cutaneous involvement in 7.0%.CONCLUSION:The majority of UC cases were young people(17-40 years),with a male *** the disease course was found to be similar to that reported in Western countries,more similarities were found with Asian countries with regards to the extent of the disease and response to steroid therapy.

Can Left Pleural Effusion Be an Indicator of Gastric Leaks after Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy?

Background: Coincidental pleural effusion has been observed by computed tomography (CT) scans in individual patients with gastric leaks after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy;however, the frequency of this phenomenon has not been investigated in cohort studies. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of left pleural effusion as an indicator of gastric leaks after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Setting: University hospital and bariatric surgery center of excellence. Methods: This single-center retrospective analysis included consecutive patients who had undergone laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy followed by CT scans to investigate suspected gastric leaks from September 2011 to September 2018. The sensitivity, specificity, Youden’s index, and predictive values were estimated using a 2 × 2 cross-tabulation. Results: The study involved assessing the CT scans of 148 patients;80 patients (44 men and 36 women, mean age: 34 years, mean body mass index {BMI}: 46 kg/m2) had positive findings of gastric leaks after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, such as contrast leak, gas leak, and peri-gastric collection (either singly or in combination). The CT findings were negative for gastric leaks in 68 patients (38 men and 30 women, mean age: 33 years, mean BMI: 45 kg/m2). Pleural effusion manifested as a fluid density in the dependent portion of pleural cavity on CT. The sensitivity of left pleural effusion to predict gastric leaks after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was 73.8%, and the specificity was 91.2%. The positive and negative predictive values were 90.8% and 74.7%, respectively, and the Youden’s index was 64.9%. Conclusion: Left pleural effusion exhibits good diagnostic accuracy for gastric leaks after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Notably, the specificity (91.2%) was very high.
