Pulp health and calcific healing of a complicated crown–root fracture with additional root fracture in a maxillary incisor: A case report

BACKGROUND Complicated crown–root fracture (CRF) involves severe injury to the crown, root,and pulp, and may be accompanied by multiple root fractures. The loss of a toothhas lifelong consequences for children and teenagers, but the maintenance of pulphealth and the calcific healing of multiple root fractures are rarely reported in *** SUMmaRY This case reports healing of a permanent tooth with complicated crown–root andadditional root fractures, in which pulp health was maintained. A 10-year-old girlfell and fractured the root of her maxillary left central incisor at the cervical *** the coronal fragment was repositioned, the tooth was splinted until thetooth was no longer mobile, 2 years later. Eight years after treatment, the toothhas remained asymptomatic with vital pulp and localized gingival ***-beam computed tomography revealed not only calcified healing of the CRFbut also spontaneous healing in an additional undiagnosed root fracture. Thefracture line on the enamel could not be healed by hard tissue and formed agroove in the cervical crown. It was speculated that the groove was related to thelocalized gingival *** This case provides a clinical perspective of the treatment of a tooth with acomplicated CRF and an additional root fracture.

The glycerol electro-oxidation reaction(GEOR)is a green and promising method for the glyceraldehyde *** this work,Pd nanocrystals(Pd-NCs)modified ultrathin NiO nanoplates(NiO-uNPs)hybrids(Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs)are successfully synthesized using successive cyanogel hydrolysis,chemical reduction,and calcination treatment *** electrochemical measurements and physicochemical characterization results demonstrate that Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids have excellent electrocatalytic performance for both GEOR and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in alkaline medium,which benefit from the large specific surface area,uniform distribution of Pd-NCs,and the modified electronic structure of Ni *** Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids,only 1.43 v is needed to obtain the current density of 100 ma∙cm^(−2) for GEOR,much lower than that for oxygen evolution reaction(1.82 v).In addition,Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids exhibit better HER performance than commercial Pd/C *** a result,the constructed Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs||Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs glycerol electrolyzer only requires 1.62 v electrolysis voltage to reach 10 ma∙cm^(−2) current density,showing an energy-efficient and economy-competitive synthesis for the coproduction of glyceraldehyde and hydrogen.

BACKGROUND Under physiological conditions,sputum produced during acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)can move passively with the cilia in the airway;the sputum is gradually excreted from the depth of the airways through the stimulation of the coughing reflex on the sensory nerve on the surface of the ***,when the sputum is thick,the cough is weak,or the tracheal cilia are abnormal,sputum accumulation may occur and affect the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the ***,the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in sputum may cause or aggravate the symptoms of pulmonary infection in patients,which is the main factor leading to ***,promoting effective drainage of sputum and maintaining airway opening are key points requiring clinical *** To explore the effect of refined nursing strategies in patients with AECOPD and *** We selected 126 patients with AECOPD and difficulty of expectoration at our hospital,and divided them into a refined care group and a routine care group,with 63 cases each,using a random number *** two groups of patients were treated with expectorant,anti-infection,oxygen inhalation,and other basic treatment measures;patients in the refined care group were given refined nursing intervention during hospitalization,and the routine care group received conventional nursing *** differences in sputum expectoration,negative pressure suction rate,blood gas parameters,dyspnea score measured through the tool developed by the Medical Research Council(MRC),and quality of life were compared between the two *** After 7 d of intervention,the sputum expectoration effect of the refined care group was 62.30%,the effective rate was 31.15%,and the inefficiency rate was 6.56%.The sputum expectoration effect of the routine care group was 44.07%,the effective rate was 42.37%,and the inefficiency rate was 13.56%.The refined care group had better sputum

AIM： To investigate the expression and significance of caudal-related homeobox transcription factor （Cdx2） in gastric carcinoma （GC） and precancerous lesions. METHODS： The expression of Cdx2 in GC, precancer- ous lesions and normal gastric mucosa were detected using immunohistochemical method. Hematoxylin and eosin staining, alcian blue/periodic acid-schiff and high iron diamine/alcian blue staining were used to classify intestinal metaplasia （IM） and GC. RESULTS： Cdx2 was not detected in normal gas- tric mucosa. Cdx2 expression was detected in 87.1% （101/116） of IM, 50% （36/72） of dysplasia and 48.2% （41/85） of GC. The Cdx2-expressing cells in IM were more prevalent than in dysplasia and carcinoma （P 〈 0.05）. There was no relationship between Cdx2 ex- pression and the classification of IM or the degree of dysplasia. Expression of Cdx2 was significantly higher in intestinal-type carcinoma than in diffuse and mixed- type carcinoma （P 〈 0.05）. Positive expression of Cdx2was mainly found in moderately to well differentiated GC. There was a negative association between nuclear Cdx2 expression and lymph node metastasis and tumor, nodes, metastasis stage of GC （P 〈 0.05）. The patients with Cdx2-positive expression showed a higher survival rate than those with Cdx2-negative expression （P = 0.038）. Multivariate analysis revealed that the expres- sion of Cdx2 and lymph node metastasis were indepen- dent prognostic indicators of GC （P 〈 0.05）.

Objective:To identify the prevalence of Acanthamoeba in drinking water treatment plants during the course of the purification ***:Samples were taken from two drinking water purification plants and monitored for the presence of Acanthamoeba in order to estimate the removal capacity of treatment methods employed. Water samples were collected at each step in the purification,during the one year survey,and analysed for the presence of Acanthamoeba *** plating on bacterial-seeded ***:The results showed that amoebae were present in surface raw waters in 100%of the samples *** *** isolated from 71%and 57%of the water samples collected from post flat-bottom clarifier 1 and post-sedimentation plant *** the outflow drinking waters,the removal capacity was 100%in both purification plants *** occurrence of Acanthamoeba was not associated with ***: These findings confirm that water purification plants employing methods of flocculation,sedimentation,and filtration in combination with activated charcoal filtration,ozonisation and chlorination exhibited sufficient Acanthamoeba removal capacity and the presence of amoebae in the tap water may be due to older plumbing,water storage tanks,tap water hygiene,and/or environmental settings.

Lanthanum ferrites ceramics La0.9A0.1FeO3 （A=Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba） have been prepared by solid state reaction. X-ray power diffraction analysis reveals that all samples are of pure perovskite structure with orthorhombic phase. Electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient have been measured in vacuum within the temperature range between room temperature and 800℃. The electrical conductivity shows semiconducting behavior. Temperature dependence of electrical conductivity indicates that adiabatic small-polaron hopping mechanism is dominant for their electric transportations. Seebeck coefficients are positive for samples, suggesting ptype conduction in the whole temperature range. The highest Seebeck coefficient is found to be 654 μv/K for La0.9A0.1FeO3. Except La0.9A0.1FeO3, the electrical conductivity of La0.9A0.1FeO3 increases with increasing atomic number of the A-site element, while Seebeck coefficient decreases.
