This work investiga.es the effect of solid solution on ductility a.d on the a.tiva.ion of individua. deform.tion m.cha.ism. a. m.dera.e tem.era.ures a.d a. qua.i-sta.ic stra.n ra.es in m.-Zn a.d m.-a. a.loys. With tha. a.m. four solid solution m.-Zn a.d m.-a. bina.y a.loy ingots conta.ning 1 a.d 2 wt.% solute a.om. were subjected to hot rolling a.d subsequent a.nea.ing to genera.e polycrysta.s with sim.la. a.era.e gra.n size a.d ba.a.-type texture for ea.h com.osition. The a.tivity of the different slip system. a.ter tensile testing a. 150°C a.d a. 250°C wa. eva.ua.ed in pure m. a.d in the a.loys by EBSd-a.sisted slip tra.e a.a.ysis. In a.dition, segrega.ion of Zn a.d a. a.om. a. gra.n bounda.ies during the therm.-m.cha.ica. processing wa. cha.a.terized by Ha.dF-STEm.a.d EdX. It wa. found tha. while the a.dition of a. a.d Zn a.om. to pure m. does not lea. to m.jor cha.ges in the m.cha.ica. strength a. the investiga.ed tem.era.ures, it does enha.ce ductility significa.tly, especia.ly a. 250℃. Our results show tha. this increa.e in ductility ca.not be a.tributed to a.higher a.tiva.ion of non-ba.a. system. in the a.loys, a. reported ea.lier, a. the incidence of non-ba.a. system. is indeed considera.ly higher in pure m.. This work suggests, on the contra.y, tha. the ductility increa.e m.y be a.tributed to the presence of a.m.re hom.genous ba.a. a.tivity in the a.loys due to a.lower degree of orienta.ion clustering, to gra.n bounda.y solute segrega.ion, a.d to a.higher slip diffusivity a. gra.n interiors.

Within the proposed m.thod pa.ticula. a.tention is given to the a.a.ysis of optica., therm.l, ela.tic a.d structura. sa.0}le pa.a.0}ters. Considera.le focus is devoted to the fitting procedure of experim.nta. results using the two-la.er sa.0}le theoretica. m.del. Cha.a.teristics of previously developed photoa.oustic a.pa.a.us a.e discussed, a.tem.ting to sea.ch the idea. experim.nta. conditions which ca. provide a.good signa.-to-noise ra.io a.d sensitivity.

The sizes a.d sha.es of the a. pa.ticles a.fect the growth ra.es a.d initia. nuclea.ions of the ZnO structures, resulting in different num.ers a.d sha.es of m.ltipods. They a.so influence the orienta.ion a.d growth qua.ity of the rods. The optica. properties a.e studied by photolum.nescence, UV-vis, a.d Ra.0}n spectroscopy. The results indica.e tha. the surfa.e pla.m.n resona.ce strongly depends on the sizes a.d sha.es of the a. pa.ticles.
