Particle swarm optimization model to predict scour depth around a bridge pier

Scour depth around bridge piers plays a vital role in the safety and stability of the *** former approaches used in the prediction of scour depth are based on regression models or black box models in which the first one lacks enough accuracy while the later one does not provide a clear mathematical expression to easily employ it for other situations or ***,this paper aims to develop new equations using particle swarm optimization as a metaheuristic approach to predict scour depth around bridge *** improve the efficiency of the proposed model,individual equations are derived for laboratory and field ***,sensitivity analysis is conducted to achieve the most effective parameters in the estimation of scour depth for both experimental and filed data *** the results of the proposed model with those of existing regression-based equations reveal the superiority of the proposed method in terms of accuracy and ***,the ratio of pier width to flow depth and ratio of d50 (mean particle diameter)to flow depth for the laboratory and field data were recognized as the most effective parameters,*** derived equations can be used as a suitable proxy to estimate scour depth in both experimental and prototype scales.

Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Major, Trace and Rare Earth Elements in Sediments of the Hypersaline Urmia Salt Lake, Iran

Urmia Salt Lake （USL） is a hypersaline lake located at the NW corner of the Iran platform. The lake area is estimated to have been over 5000 km2 at one point, but has now decreased to 〈1000 km^2 in the last two decades. It contains 4.6×109 tons of halite and other detrital and evaporative minerals such as calcite, aragonite, dolomite, quartz, feldspars, augite and sylvite. This study examined the mineralogy and geochemistry of bed sediments along the mid-east toward NE bank sediments collected from 1.5 meters depth and nearby augite placer. Due to the diverse iithology of the surrounding geology, bed sediments vary from felsic in the mid-east to mafic in the northeast. Weathering of tephrite and adakite rocks of the Islamic Island at the immediate boundary has produced a large volume of augite placer over a 40 km length, parallel to the shoreline. Based on the study result, weathering increases from south to north and the geochemistry of the sediments shows enrichment of MgO, CaO, Sr and Ba associated with Sr deployment in all samples. Rare earth elements （REE） patterns normalized to the upper continental crust （UCC） indicated LREEs enrichment compared to HREEs with an elevated anomaly of Eu, possibly due to surface absorbance of Mn and Fe minerals, associated with Sr elevation originating from adakites in the lake basin vicinity.

Texture evolution and mechanical anisotropy of an ultrafine/nano-grained pure copper tube processed via hydrostatic tube cyclic expansion extrusion

Texture evolution and mechanical anisotropic behavior of an ultrafine-grained(UFG)pure copper tube processed by recently introduced method of hydrostatic tube cyclic expansion extrusion(HTCEE)was *** the UFG tube,different deformation behavior and a significant anisotropy in tensile properties were recorded along the longitudinal and peripheral *** HTCEE process increased the yield strength and the ultimate strength in the axial direction by 3.6 and 1.67 times,***,this process increased the yield strength and the ultimate strength in the peripheral direction by 1.15 and 1.12 times,*** ratio of ultimate tensile strength in the peripheral direction to that in the axial direction,as a criterion for mechanical anisotropy,are 1.7 and 1.16 for the as-annealed coarse-grained and the HTCEE processed UFG tube,*** results are indicative of a reducing effect of the HTCEE process on the mechanical ***,after HTCEE process,a low loss of ductility was observed in both directions,which is another advantage of HTCEE *** measurements revealed a slight increment of hardness values in the peripheral direction,which is in agreement with the trend of tensile *** analysis was conducted in order to determine the oriental distribution of the *** obtained{111}pole figures demonstrate the texture evolution and reaffirm the anisotropy observed in mechanical *** electron microscopy micrographs showed that different modes of fracture occurred after tensile testing in the two orthogonal directions.

Accurate Classification of EEG Signals Using Neural Networks Trained by Hybrid Populationphysic-based Algorithm

A brain-computer interface(BCI)system is one of the most effective ways that translates brain signals into output *** imagery activities can be classified based on the changes inμandβrhythms and their spatial ***-layer perceptron neural networks(MLP-NNs)are commonly used for *** such MLP-NNs has great importance in a way that has attracted many researchers to this field *** methods for training NNs,such as gradient descent and recursive methods,have some disadvantages including low accuracy,slow convergence speed and trapping in local *** this paper,in order to overcome these issues,the MLP-NN trained by a hybrid population-physics-based algorithm,the combination of particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm(PSOGSA),is proposed for our classification *** show the advantages of using PSOGSA that trains NNs,this algorithm is compared with other meta-heuristic algorithms such as particle swarm optimization(PSO),gravitational search algorithm(GSA)and new versions of *** metrics that are discussed in this paper are the speed of convergence and classification accuracy *** results show that the proposed algorithm in most subjects of encephalography(EEG)dataset has very better or acceptable performance compared to others.

The Photon Polarization Parameter of 2H（n, γ）3H reaction with Inclusion of the Electric Quadrupole Contribution

We use effective field theory （EFT） for the calculation of neutron-deuteron radiative capture at very low energies. We present here the use of EFT to calculate a low-energy photo-nuclear observable in three-body systems, the photon polarization parameter and and fore-aft asymmetry at thermal neutron energies up to next-to-next to leading order （N2 LO）, with inclasion of the electric quadrupole contribution. The photon polarization parameter in total is found to be Rc = -0.421±0.003 and is in good agreement with the other modern theoretical calculations based on modern nucleon-nucleon potentials. In comparison with our previous work, a satisfactory agreement with the available experimental data is found by inclusion of the electric quadrupole contribution.

Determination of chemical elements assay plays an important role in mineral processing *** factor is used to control process accuracy,recovery calculation and plant *** new assaying methods including chemical methods,X-ray fluorescence and atomic absorption spectrometry are advanced and ***,in some applications,such as on-line assaying process,high accuracy is *** this paper,an algorithm based on Kalman Filter is presented to predict on-line XRF *** research has been carried out on the basis of based the industrial real data collection for evaluating the performance of the presented *** measurements and analysis for this study were conducted at the Sarcheshmeh Copper Concentrator Plant located in *** quality of the obtained results was very satisfied;so that the RMS errors of prediction obtained for Cu and Mo grade assaying errors in rougher feed were less than 0.039 and 0.002 and in final flotation concentration less than 0.58 and 0.074,*** results indicate that the mentioned method is quite accurate to reduce the on-line XRF errors measurement.

Effects of micronutrients foliar application on rice (Oryza Sativa L. cv. Shiroodi) morphological traits, yield and yield components

In order to assess the effect of micronutrients(Mn,Zn,Fe,Cu and B)on rice metabolism and performance,research implemented in the form of randomized complete block design with 8 treatments(T0 Control,T1-T7 one to seven spraying)with 3 *** location of this research was the Rice Research Institution of Iran(Mazandaran)during two consecutive years(2017 and 2018 cultivation seasons).The results demonstrate that the effect of micronutrients foliar application is significant at the 1%level of probability of some traits such as plant wet weight,12 plants yield,and leaf ***,it is significant at the 5%level of probability of some traits such as the number of tillers/plant,80 plants yield,cluster length,leaf color chart and 1000 grains *** this relation,the interaction of year*foliar application was significant for the studied *** purpose of this study was to evaluation of micronutrients effect on rice *** to the results,it can be significantly concluded that the micronutrients furnish through the leaf application can influence on rice yield and yield *** event is justifiable by micronutrients role in the plant metabolic procedures and enzymes activation that affects crops vegetative growth and ***,the postponement time can be decreased by the leaf spraying of the micronutrients and this is vital for rice plant during the rapid growth *** results are significantly evident that one leaf spraying of essential micronutrients will impress on rice yield.
