Applying machine learning techniques to predict detonation initiation fromhot spots

As hot spots can be a source of detonation initiation by autoignition in a reactive mixture, understanding hotspot initiated detonation is significantly important for energy-related applications of detonation. Although theZel’dovich reactivity gradient theory is extremely useful to predict reaction propagation modes from hot spots,the prediction is limited due to the changes in the unburnt mixture during the induction time. In the currentstudy, machine learning based estimation methods by training the numerical simulation result data set aresuggested to avoid the extensive and empirical effort to find initial conditions of hot spot initiated detonationin inhomogeneous mixtures. The data set was obtained from the detailed numerical simulations with variousconditions of hot spots and divided into training and test data sets. Some variables were normalized withothers to avoid multicollinearity. Three different machine learning techniques, logistic regression, classificationand regression trees, and artificial neural network, were utilized to develop prediction models. Using thedeveloped models by machine learning approaches, the modes of hot spot initiated reaction front propagationcan be predicted without computationally expensive numerical simulations. The accuracies of the machinelearning based prediction models were significantly improved compared to the baseline model simply usingthe Zel’dovich reactivity gradient theory. These models can be utilized as preliminary prediction methods ofhot spot induced detonation initiation conditions for further detailed numerical simulations and dominantinput variables.

THE INFLUENCE OF FERTILIZERS, NaHCO_3,SOIL TYPE ON CHEMISTRY OF FLOODED SOILS AND RICE PLANT GROWTH

This research was conducted to study the influence of NaHCO3and fertilizer treatments on flooded soils tothe chemistry of soil and rice plant *** experiment was done in a greenhouse using a split-split plot design ofthree factors: two types of soil,three doses of fertilizers and three levels of NaHCO3with three *** firstfactor was two kind of soils Fluvaquent and Calciquert,the factor was without nutrient(blank),macro nutrients,andcompletely nutrients(second macro and micro nutrients),and the third factor was 0 mg/kg,200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kgof NaHCO3or equivalent with 0 mg,1 200 mg and 2 400 mg NaHCO3per *** experimental unit used a pot of 10L capacity and filled with soil mud equivalent with 6 kg of dried *** each of treatment combination mixed into themud soil,two plants of ir-32 variety were grown,and flooded at5 cm high accordingly with growth *** were the growth of tillers,electrical conductivity(E.C.) and *** experiment results showed that the treatment of NaHCO3increased the soluble salt content(E.C.) and soilacidity(pH) during flooding on Calciquerts and *** content of soluble salt decreased to 2.0 mmhos/cm,while pHon Calciquert decreased towards the neutral *** pHon Fluvaquents increased approach to *** treatments of NaHCO3inhibited the tiller growth,either macro fertilizer and completely fertilizer increased thetillers,but did not improve the negative effect of alkalinity due to of NaHCOtreatment.

Granitic inselbergs of Lara(Panafrican Chain,Far-North Cameroon):Assets for the implementation of geotourism in Mountainous region

The locality of Lara(Far-North Region,Cameroon)is made up of a pediplain strewn with coalescent *** interaction of internal and external geological processes has contributed to transform the latter into inselbergs,whose geotouristic values are yet to be *** and laboratory work enabled us to select the geomorphosites through their aesthetic value(particular size and shape)and,geomorphological and geological ***,it permitted to study and map the geomorphosites using Optic Microscope,Google Earth,GIS software and many other ***,four inselbergs have been selected and studied in the locality of *** petrographic study of these inselbergs shows that granites are the main components of inselbergs and they present a fine to coarse-grained texture,materialized by quartz,micas,plagioclases and alkali feldspars(white and pink in colour).Inselbergs exhibit vertical and parallel networks of diaclases giving them a stratified appearance in some *** addition,on some inselberg limbs and piedmonts,are built tors which contribute to their *** tops of inselbergs,are embellished by several alluring pedestal *** their flanks,shelters of various shapes and sizes(about 12 m length)have developed through the heaps of blocks *** the ten shelters selected,some have a fairly high cultural value as they are sacred places for the local ***,Lara's granitic inselbergs include enclaves(cognate enclaves and xenocrysts)that also significantly improve their geoheritage *** are landforms with high education and aesthetic value that attracted a larger local and foreign population of about 863 visitors between *** constitute an exceptional geoheritage that could attract more tourists in the locality of Lara;but the promotion of geotourism is needed through interpretative panels,marketing of geomorphosites through leaflets,web,media,and geotours,to mention a few.

Biological Active Components of Selected Medical Fungi

According to official data, about 2000 mushrooms belong to the category of medical mushrooms, while over 600 have already confirmed medical properties. The aim and task of this work were to collect, analyze and process scientific and expert data of biologically active components of selected Basidiomycetes fungi: Letinula edodes, Ganoderma Lucidum, Grifola frondosa, Trametes versicolor and Inonotus obliquus. Areas of fungi therapy and the search for new immunomodulatory agents are far from being restricted to these species alone, however, these five may serve as typical representatives of widespread medicinal fungi used in both traditional medicine and modern biomedical research. Their biologically active components have different pharmacological effects, and beta-glucan polysaccharides, which are recognized as immunomodulators, are of particular importance. Many of the fungal beta-glucans tested have switched to pharmaceuticals such as Lentinan, Sonifilan, Krestin and GanoPoly, which speaks to their pharmacological and research potential. Citing the results of scientific advances in the last two decades, the results of preclinical tests and the results of clinical studies can confirm that supplementation with medical fungi can increase treatment success or mitigate the negative side effects of different therapies. A long-term weakened immune system is a risk factor for malignancies, so it can be concluded that disease prevention is beneficial for each individual and deserves the same attention paid to treating the disease.

Emerging blood-based biomarkers for detection of gastric cancer

Early detection and efficient monitoring of tumor dynamics are prerequisites for reducing disease burden and mortality, and for improving the management of patients with gastric cancer(GC). Blood-based biomarker assays for the detection of early-stage GC could be of great relevance both for population-wide or risk groupbased screening programs, while circulating biomarkers that reflect the genetic make-up and dynamics of the tumor would allow monitoring of treatment efficacy, predict recurrences and assess the genetic heterogeneity of the tumor. Recent research to identify blood-based biomarkers of GC has resulted in the identification of a wide variety of cancer-associated molecules, including various proteins, autoantibodies against tumor associated antigens, cell-free DNA fragments, m RNAs and various non-coding RNAs, circulating tumor cells and cancer-derived extracellular vesicles. Each type of these biomarkers provides different information on the disease status, has different advantages and disadvantages, and distinct clinical usefulness. In the current review, we summarize the recent developments in blood-based GC biomarker discovery, discuss the origin of various types of biomarkers and their clinical usefulness and the technological challenges in the development of biomarker assays for clinical use.

Developing a global interconnected power system model

Decarbonizing the power sector is a necessary step towards a low-carbon future. Interconnecting power systems on different continents could be a method to contribute to such a future, by utilizing highly efficient renewable resources around the globe, while simultaneously providing additional benefits of power system integration. In this paper, we describe the process of constructing and simulating a global interconnected power system model with high technical and temporal resolution. Being the first of its kind on the global scale, this paper is designed to showcase the proof of concept as an intermediate step to a high resolution global model, by integrating an existing European power system model with the North-American continent. The work to date has been focused on testing the methodology and building up necessary knowledge to realistically simulate the functionality of a possible future global grid. Some initial results are analysed to support the viability of the model and the concept in general. Furthermore, key factors influencing the development and optimal performance of the global interconnected power system model are identified.
