a.iotic and biotic factors that cause damage to forest trees also threaten the sustaina.ility of forest *** winter storms can be one of the most dama.ing forces,very few studies have focused on winter storm damage in *** prevent or minimize storm damage,we must evaluate the factors that influence the degree of damage and develop storm risk maps for the forested ***,a GiS-based mathema.ical model(fuzzy logic)was used to develop such a risk map by considering risk factors such as tree species,tree age,crown density,site qua.ity,topographical features(eleva.ion,slope,aspect),clima.ic va.iables(wind,precipita.ion),and soil *** Alabarda Forest enterprise Chief within the borders of tavs?anl?Forest enterprise Directorate was selected as the study area due to high occurrence of storm damage in the region during winter 2015–*** model verifica.ion,the risk map of storm damage was compared to the actual areal distribution of storm damage reported by the enterprise *** model based on fuzzy logic indicated that slightly more than half of the study area(52.49%)was under very low storm damage risk,28.12%was under low risk and 19.19%was classified as high risk.A very small portion of the total study area was classified as very high *** results indicated a close rela.ion with the storm damage map generated using tavsanl?FeD *** results revealed that the most effective risk predictors for overall storm damage risk were wind direction and speed,followed by slope and site qua.ity factors.

Understanding the neural underpinning of human gait and balance is one of the most pertinent challenges for 21st-century transla.ional neuroscience due to the profound impact that falls and mobility disturbances have on our a.ing *** and gait control does not happen automa.ically,as previously believed,but rather requires continuous involvement of central nervous *** effectively exert control over the body,the brain must integrate multiple streams of sensory informa.ion,including visual,vestibular,and somatosensory *** mecha.isms which underpin the integra.ion of these multisensory signals are the principal topic of the present *** multisensory integra.ion theories focus on how failure of cognitive processes thought to be involved in multisensory integra.ion leads to falls in older *** empha.is,however,has been placed on specific contributions of individual sensory moda.ities to multisensory integra.ion processes and cross-modal interactions that occur between the sensory moda.ities in rela.ion to gait and *** the present work,we review the contributions of somatosensory,visual,and vestibular moda.ities,along with their multisensory intersections to gait and balance in older adults and pa.ients with Parkinson’s *** also review evidence of vestibular contributions to multisensory temporal binding windows,previously shown to be highly pertinent to fall risk in older ***,we relate multisensory vestibular mecha.isms to potential neural substrates,both at the level of neurobiology(concerning positron emission tomography ima.ing)and at the level of electrophysiology(concerning electroencephalography).We hope that this integra.ive review,dra.ing influence across multiple subdisciplines of neuroscience,paves the way for novel research directions and therapeutic neuromodulatory approaches,to improve the lives of older adults and pa.ients with neurodegenera.ive diseases.

Phase-field simula.ion serves as an effective tool for quantita.ive characteriza.ion of microstructure evolution in single-crystal Ni-based superalloys during solidifica.ion nowadays. The classic unit cell is either limited to γdendrites along crystal orienta.ion or too ideal to cover complex morphologies for γ dendrites. An attempt to design the unit cell for two-dimensional(2-D) phase-field simula.ions of microstructure evolution in single-crystal Ni-based superalloys during solidifica.ion was thus performed by using the MiCReSS(MiCRostructure evolution Simula.ion Software) in the framework of the multi-phase-field(MPF) model,and demonstrated in a commercial TMS-113 superalloy. The coupling to CALPHAD(CALcula.ion of PHAse Diagram) thermodyna.ic database was rea.ized via the TQ interface and the experimental diffusion coefficients were utilized in the simula.ion. Firstly, the classic unit cell with a single γ dendrite along crystal orienta.ion was employed for the phase-field simula.ion in order to reproduce the microstructure ***, such simple unit cell was extended into the cases with two other different crystal orienta.ions, i.e., and . Thirdly, for crystal orienta.ions, the effect of γ dendritic orienta.ions and unit cell sizes on microstructure and microsegrega.ion was comprehensively studied, from which a new unit cell with multiple γdendrites was proposed. The phase-field simula.ion with the newly proposed unit cell was further performed in the TMS-113 superalloy, and the microstructure features including the competitive growth of γ dendrites,microsegrega.ion of different solutes and distribution of γ′ grains, can be nicely reproduced.

The study of the influence of the cobalt content on the cyclic sta.ility of superelasticity(Se)was carried out in quenched Ni_(44)Fe_(19)Ga_(27)Co_(10)and Ni_(39)Fe_(19)Ga_(27)Co_(15)(at.%)single crystals under *** is shown that an increase in the cobalt content leads to embrittlement of the material and a decrease in the cyclic sta.ility of *** Ni_(44)Fe_(19)Ga_(27)Co_(10)single crystals,during the first 20 loa.ing/unloa.ing cycles,the elastic energy relaxa.ion occurs along with the forma.ion of disloca.ions and residual martensite,which leads to a decrease in critical stress of martensite forma.ion and in stress *** the next 80 cycles,Se becomes more *** is accompa.ied by a slight change in the *** the contrary,Ni_(39)Fe_(19)Ga_(27)Co_(15)single crystals are characterized by high-strength characteristics,which lead to high Se sta.ility during the first 20 loa.ing/unloa.ing ***,after 20 cycles,a strong degrada.ion of the Se is observed through the forma.ion of microcracks,which ultimately leads to the destruction of the *** results of work are replicable for cycling at different temperatures from all temperature ranges of superelasticity.
