Magnesite and talc origin in the sequence of geodynamic events in Veporicum, Inner Western Carpathians, Slovakia

This paper summarizes recent data about magnesite and talc genesis in Carboniferous host rocks of Western Carpathians (Slovakia) , which occur in two distinct belts in tectonic superunit Veporicum and its contact zone with Gemericum. The northern Sinec magnesite and talc belt (with main deposits Kokava, Sinec, Samo, Hnust'a-Mutnik) contains economic accummulation of magnesite and talc, while in the southern Ochtina belt ( main deposits in Dubrava massif-Dubrava, Mikova, Jedl'ovec; Lubenik, Ochtina, Kosice-Bankov, Banisko, Medvedia) the magnesite is *** magnesite genesis by successive replacement of Carboniferous calcite to dolomite and magnesite during metamorphic process Ml (northern belt 280-400℃; , southern belt 370-420℃: ; radvanec & Prochaska, 2001; Kodera & radvanec, 2002) , being supplied by Mg from Permoscythian evaporitic bittern brines, relates to Variscan post-collisional (post-VD) evolution. The extensional tectonics and the high heat flow facilitated the generation of a hydrothermal *** time-separated later metamorphic and sourcely different fluid flow event (M2; 1. c. ) produced talc. Tectonic, microtectonic, metamorphic and geochronological data relate the talc origin with the Alpine Upper Cretaceous (88-84 Ma; Maluski in Kovacik et al. , 1996) tectonothermal event AD2. This event, being the consequence of Alpine collisional ( AD1 ) crustal thickening and metamorphic core complex origin, meant regional extension and pervasive fluid flow of open system in crustal discontinuities. This process was prominent in the northern belt ( Sinec shear zone) located more closely to Veporic thermal dome, while towards its peripheral parts (southern Ochtina belt) the M2 metamorphic process and steatitization gradually *** from Sinec shear zone (being the prominent AD2 -AD3 structure of northern Sinec belt) , where the dolomite/magnesite lenses (replacement in M1) and their accompanying lithology were in AD1 sandwitched between more com

A Controller for Autonomous Landing of ***

In recent years, many so called "robotic toys" appeared at the market. Though these devices are called toys and they are primarily intended for games, they provide a set of sensors and actuators that can be controlled from a computer. Hence these robotic devices may serve as non-expensive research tools, in particular for developing advanced software for controlling them. This paper describes a controller for landing of an ***, a quadricopter marketed by Parrot Inc. This controller is designed for fully autonomous landing to a given visual pattern and for hovering above the pattern. We will show how to collect input information for the controller and how to use it in a classical PID controller.

Effect of multi-walled carbon nanotube addition on the microstructures and mechanical properties of Ti(C,N)-based cermets

The surface modification of multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) was carried out using plasma treatment. The microstructures of the prepared cermets with different additions of MWCNTs were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX), and X-ray diffraction(XrD). Mechanical properties such as transverse rupture strength(TrS), fracture toughness(K_(IC)), and hardness(hra) were measured. The results showed that some reactive groups were successfully modified on the surface of MWCNTs, resulting in the improvement of dispersibility. Most of the amorphous carbons and impurities were peeled from the MWCNTs. Increasing MWCNT addition decreased the dissolution of tungsten, titanium, and molybdenum in the binder phase. The cermet with 0.5 wt% MWCNT addition showed the highest TrS and fracture toughness. The strengthening mechanisms were attributed to the finer grain size, the homogeneous microstructure, and the higher volume fraction of binder phase in the binder. The toughening mechanisms were characterized by bridging and pulling-out.

PUrPOSE. To determine the distribution of perceived visual ability for functio nal vision performance among persons with low vision in the Indian state of Andh ra Pradesh. METHODS. As part of a population-based epidemiologic study, the And hra Pradesh Eye Disease Study (APEDS), a 16-item visual function questionnaire was designed and applied to 7363 persons older than 15 years, to record the leve ls of difficulty perceived by the subjects. Of these, 123 persons were found to have low vision. rasch analysis was used to convert the ordinal difficulty ratin gs of these 123 persons into interval measures of perceived visual ability for f unctional vision. rESULTS. Content validity of the questionnaire was demonstrate d by good separation indices (3.17 and 5.44) and high reliability scores (0.91 a nd 0.97) for person and item parameters. Construct validity was shown with model fit statistics. Criterion validity of the questionnaire was shown by good discr imination among the general vision ratings. The functional situation that requir ed the least visual ability was "reaching an object farther or closer than you thought"; the situation requiring the most visual ability was"recognizing smal l objects."Bivariate regression analysis determined that for every unit of logM Ar visual acuity, perceived visual ability for functional vision decreased by 2. 9 logit, which could explain 32%of the variability in the person measure. CONCL USIONS. The described assessment, across a range of visual problems, is a valid way to measure perceived ability for functional vision in persons with low visio n. Perceived visual ability varies with every unit of logarithm of the minimum a ngle of resolution (logMAr) visual acuity.
