Biomedical applications of mRNA nanomedicine

As an attractive alternative to plasmid DNA, messenger RNA （mRNA） has recently emerged as a promising class of nucleic acid therapeutics for biomedical applications. Advances in addressing the inherent shortcomings of mRNA and in the development of nanoparticle-based delivery systems have prompted the development and clinical translation of mRNA-based medicines. In this review, we discuss the chemical modification strategies of mRNA to improve its stability, minimize immune responses, and enhance translational efficacy. We also highlight recent progress in nanoparticle-based mRNA delivery. Considerable attention is given to the increasingly widespread applications of mRNA nanomedicine in the biomedical fields of vaccination, protein-replacement therapy, gene editing, and cellular reprogramming and engineering.

One of the important geotechnical parameters required for designing of the civil engineering structure is the compressibility of the *** this study,the main purpose is to develop a novel hybrid Machine Learning(ML)model(ANFIS-DE),which used Differential Evolution(DE)algorithm to optimize the predictive capability of Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS),for estimating soil Compression coefficient(Cc)from other geotechnical parameters namelyWater Content,Void Ratio,SpecificGravity,Liquid Limit,Plastic Limit,Clay content and Depth of Soil *** of the predictive capability of the novel model was carried out using statistical indices:Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Error(MAE),and Correlation Coefficient(R).In addition,two popular ML models namely Reduced Error Pruning Trees(REPTree)and Decision Stump(Dstump)were used for *** showed that the performance of the novel model ANFIS-DE is the best(R=0.825,MAE=0.064 and RMSE=0.094)in comparison to other models such as REPTree(R=0.7802,MAE=0.068 and RMSE=0.0988)andDstump(R=0.7325,MAE=0.0785 and RMSE=0.1036).Therefore,the ANFIS-DE model can be used as a promising tool for the correct and quick estimation of the soil Cc,which can be employed in the design and construction of civil engineering structures.

High Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Self-Medication among Street Vendors in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR)

Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a set of peri-articular conditions that result mainly in pain and functional discomfort. They represent a major occupational health problem in all areas of activity. The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of MSDs among street vendors in the city of Bangui in the Central African Republic (CAR). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from September 01 to October 31, 2021 in Bangui, the capital of CAR. The study population consisted of street vendors which were included at the entrance of 4 large markets of Bangui after giving informed consent. The sample size, calculated according to the Schwartz formula, was 384. Sociodemographic data (age, gender, level of education, marital status), professional data (the duration of sale in hours, the distance traveled per day);and health data (the health problems suffered by itinerant sellers and the means of dealing with them) were collected using a pre-established self-questionnaire. This collected data was processed using Microsoft Excel 2013 and Epi-Info version 7 software. Results: Among 384 street vendors included, women represented a quarter (24.9%). The average age was 27 years;the 25-34 age group was the most represented (50%). About two-thirds (64.8%) sold for at least 12 hours and traveled more than 10 km (69.3%) per day. The main health problems reported by street vendors were musculoskeletal disorders (95.8%). Their locations concerned the upper limbs shoulder 65.36% (251), elbow 24.22% (93). Non-ergonomic postures that stress the back and joints all day long, causing pain are risk factors for MSDs. These MSDs were treated by self-medication with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (22.0%), mainly sold on the street. Conclusion: MSDs dominated the health problems of street vendors. MIMO hardware Simulator Using Standard Channel Models and Measurement Data at 2,2 and 3,5 GHz

A wireless communication system can be tested either in actual conditions or by using a hardware simulator reproducing actual conditions. With a hardware simulator it is possible to freely simulate a desired type of a radio channel. This paper presents architectures for the digital block of a hardware simulator of MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) propagation channels. This simulator can be used for LTE (long term evolution system) and WLAN (wireless local area networks) 802.11ac applications, in indoor and outdoor environments. The first architecture is appropriate for shipboard environments, while the second corresponds to outdoor-to-indoor environments and considers the wave propagation penetration within buildings. Measurements campaigns carried out at 2.2 and 3.5 GHz have been conducted to obtain the impulse responses of the channel using a MIMO channel sounder designed at IETR. The measurements are processed with an algorithm extracting the dominant paths. The architectures of the digital block are implemented on a Xilinx Virtex-IV FPGA (field programmable gate array). After the implementation of the impulse responses, the accuracy, the occupation on the FPGA and the latency of the architectures are analyzed.
