Dengue is one of the most prominent tropical epidemic diseases present in the Rio de Janeiro city and Southeast part of Brazil, due to the widespread conditions of occurrence of the dengue vector, the mosquito Aedesaegypti, such as high-temperature days interlaced with afternoon or nocturnal rainstorms in summer. This work has the objective of investigating the relationships between variabilities of the El Ni?o-South Oscillation (ENSO) and greater epidemics of dengue in Rio de Janeiro city. To accomplish this goal, the analysis and signal decomposition by cross-wavelet transform (WT) was applied to obtain the cross variability associated with variations of power and phase of both signals by characteristic periods and along with the time series. Data considered in the analysis are (the decimal logarithm of normalized value) of the monthly available notifications of dengue worsening, provided by the public health system of Brazil, and the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) Ni?o 3.4 data, provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in the period 2000-2017. A maximum cross-wavelet power close to 0.45 was obtained for the representative period of 1 year and also to periods between 3 and 4 years, associated with the positive phase of the SOI index (i.e. , La Ni?a) or with a transition to the positive phase. The evolution of the combined variability of SOI and dengue can be expressed by progressive differences in phase along the time, eventually resulting in yielding phases (i.e., La Niña-Dengue epidemic).

受全球气候变暖对高海拔山地区气温放大效应影响,冰雪型地质灾害趋于增多,且普遍呈现链式发育特征,具有灾害类型动态转化、影响范围大、破坏程度高等特点,严重威胁区域内重大工程建设安全。基于实地考察与文献调研方式,将高寒山地区常见冰雪型地质灾害凝练为:冰岩崩、雪岩崩、冰雪型碎屑流、冰碛物堆积滑坡、冰湖溃决、冰川型泥石流6类,并分别剖析各自典型的发育特征;而后,对冰雪型地质灾害3种典型链式组合关系予以剖析,发现:冰雪型地质灾害链普遍存在“高位萌生→动力溃散→物相转化”动态演化过程;据此,对冰雪型地质灾害高位萌生、动力溃散及物相转化三阶段特征及内在机制进行分析,明确了冰雪型地质灾害的“高位萌生→位能转化→侵蚀铲刮→滑移堆积”累积链生放大机理。最后,对冰雪型地质灾害链各演化阶段进行评价模型梳理,认为:新型破碎-扩散模型、flores接触力模型可用于评价冰雪型地质灾害高位萌生向动力溃散过程;犁切模型可较好描述其侵蚀铲刮与体积放大过程;颗粒流模型、空气润滑模型、超孔隙水压力模型可用于揭示后续的高速滑移堆积特征;而Voellmy流变模型、Bingham流体渗流模型可较好解释其灾害链条的物相转化特征。研究对于科学评价冰雪型地质灾害链动态演化过程具有基础参考价值。

AIM:To determine whether or not the use of antioxidant supplementation aids in the prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography ***:A systematic review of randomized controlled trials(RCTs) was made to evaluate the preventive effect of prophylactic antioxidant supplementation in post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis(PEP).The inclusion criteria included:acute post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis in adults; randomized clinical trials with the use of any antioxidant as an intervention compared with placebo,to reduce *** outcome measure was the incidence and severity of *** RCTs involving 3110 patients since 1999 *** antioxidants used were selenite,β-carotene,and pentoxifylline(each one in one trial),N-acetylcysteine(NAC) in three trials,and allopurinol in six *** group of patients treated with NAC received different doses; either oral or intravenous,and allopurinol-treated patients received five different oral doses in two different administration *** results are expressed with raw numbers,proportions,as well as mean and standard *** incidence of pancreatitis between groups was analyzed with Pearson's χ2 test or Fisher's exact test(F).The main outcome is expressed as relative risks and 95%***:The incidence of pancreatitis in all antioxidant treatment groups was 8.6%,whereas it was 9.7% in the control *** antioxidants used were selenite,β-carotene,and pentoxifylline(each one in one trial),NAC in three trials,and allopurinol in six *** allopurinol trials,three different dosifications were used; two trials reported a low dosage(of less than 400 mg),two trials reported a moderate dose(600 mg) and the remaining two employed higher doses(more than 900 mg).Supplementation was not associated with a significant reduction in the incidence of PEP [relative risk(RR) = 0.93; 95%CI:0.82-1.06; P = 0.28].In addition,the incid

Rambutan growing in the state of Chiapas has brought about a demand for new plantations;however, this species has several biotic and abiotic factors that limit its production. These factors include phytosanitary problems, deficient agronomical handling, and production alternancy. Because of this, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the application of agronomical practices such as pruning, ringing, water stress, and their interaction on the rambutan alternancy. The experiment was carried out in the “La Chinita” commercial orchard located on KM. 4.5 the Huehuetan Station, municipality of Huehuetan, Chiapas, Mexico. We used 48 rambutan trees in production with an age of 14 years. Two production cycles were evaluated. The experiment was established under a divided plot experimental design in random complete blocks with a factorial arrangement and six replicates;each tree being a replicate. The study factors were: water stress, pruning, girdling, irrigation (control), and their combinations, resulting in eight treatments. The evaluation was done during flowering, fruit set, and harvest. In flowering, the treatments with permanent irrigation in both evaluated cycles (2010-2011 and 2011-2012) manifested a production alternancy behavior, with an average 36.4% flowering in the first evaluation cycle and increased to 82.1% in the second cycle. The treatments with water stress kept a proportional flowering during the first and second cycles of 97.9% and 95.3%, respectively. The water stress influenced the bunch weight (PR) variable fruit set with bigger fruits and higher bunch weight than the irrigated treatments. In production, pruning and girdling together with water deficit had no alternancy in both production cycles.

On April 26-27, 2013, the Step by Step Foundation hosted the Second International Spinal Cord Repair Meeting at the Fira Barcelona Convention Center in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain, highlighting some of the exciting research including clinical trials which show promise for treatments for this devastating disorder. This meeting brought together clinicians, clinical scientists and molecular biologists from more than 10 countries to evaluate current knowledge on clinical, cellular, and biomolecular aspects of spinal cord injury. A major goal of the conference in advancing the translation of research data to the clinic was to promote multi-pronged approaches for therapy of this complex problem.

Introduction: Cancer is one of the most devastating pathologies to affect the breast. mastectomy stigmas are associated with depression, body image dysmorphia, and decreasing quality of life. BREAST-Q is a PROM (Patient Reported Outcome Measures) that has proven useful in measuring satisfaction with breast reconstruction results from the patient’s point of view. Objectives: To measure the satisfaction index and improvement in quality of life after breast reconstruction for breast cancer sequelae in our hospital in the last 5 years. materials and Methods: Descriptive Study that includes patients with Breast cancer diagnosis that underwent mastectomy and breast reconstruction (prosthesis or autologous tissue) in “Hospital Central Sur de Petroleos Mexicanos” (January 2015 to January 2020), whose satisfaction index was measured with BREAST-Q one year after reconstruction. Results: 153 patients were included in the analysis. Mean global satisfaction was 74 points. We observed a tendency towards higher psychosocial, sexual and appearance satisfaction in patients who underwent reconstruction with autologous tissue. The mean satisfaction with provided information was 64 points and with the medical team > 90 points. Conclusion: Breast reconstruction is associated to a high satisfaction index and quality of life improvement regardless of the technique. BREAST-Q proved to be useful in evaluating patient experience and it helped us identify areas of opportunity to improve our care.

Small-diameter ZnO nanorods with lengths of 35-50 nm were synthesized by solvothermal treatment route at low temperature(70℃)for 48,96 and 144 hours using polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)as stabilizing *** optical band gap energy of nanorods was calculated by Tauc’s approximation,obtaining values of 3.30-3.21 *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)it was determined that ZnO samples crystallize in Wurtzite hexagonal structure and present changes in lattice *** XRD patterns reveal a preferential growth of ZnO nanostructures along the plane with Miller indices(002).Stabilization process of ZnO nanoparticles and nanorods was studied by Fourier-transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,determining that the presence of amide group in polymer structure confers the ability to interact electrostatically with ZnO nanostructures ***-IR results revealed that O and N atoms of amide group interact strongly with the surface of ZnO *** length/diameter ratio of ZnO nanorods at 48 and 96 hours of reflux was 2.3 and 2.7,respectively.
