Watershed prioritization for conservation planning using RUSLE and morphometric methods,Northwestern Ethiopia

Soil erosion and the subsequent sedimentation are serious environmental *** land management coupled with intense rainfall has complicated the problem in the Ethiopian ***,soil loss costs a profound amount of the national GdP and deters land *** soil loss and prioritizing areas for conservation is imperative for proper planning and resource ***,this study aimed at estimating the mean annual soil loss rate of Gilgel Abay watershed which has critical implications on Lake Tana and Abbay River(Upper Blue Nile River),using RUSLE and morphometric analysis *** including rainfall,soil,digital Elevation Model and land use/land cover were used to generate important parameters required for the soil loss *** collected through field observation,consultation with experts and document analysis were used for validation *** results of the study reveal that the watershed experienced an average soil loss rate of 39.8 t ha^(-1)yr^(-1).Subsequently,nearly 25%(37,038 ha)of the watershed is threatened by moderate to very severe soil *** the four sub watersheds,sub watershed 3(S3)and sub watershed 4(S4),which consist of about 65%(105,000 ha)of the total area of the study watershed,experienced an annual soil loss rate of over 30 t ha^(-1)yr^(-1).The amount of soil loss that the study watershed has experienced is above the soil loss tolerance level of Ethiopia(2-18 t ha^(-1)yr^(-1))and the tropical region(10 t ha^(-1)yr^(-1)).Similarly,the results of morphometric analysis showed that the studied watershed has S-shaped hypsometric curve,an indication for maturity stage of landscape *** studied watershed is also characterized by a non-circular shaped drainage with rugged and dissected topography that contributes to high flash flood,peak discharge and incidence of soil *** result of both models signified that S3 and S4 are highly susceptible to soil ***,t

Is There A Close Relation between Sperm Count and Ejaculation Volume?

Objective To evaluate the relation between sperm count and ejaculatory volume. Methods Semen samples from 1 364 men were collected and ejaculate volume and sperm count were performed. Results A low correlation （11.6%） was found but statistically significant （P 〈O.O00 1） and a trend was observed to decrease in the linear regression analysis. In addition, the ejaculate volume was lower in the group with higher sperm count. Conclusion Sperm cells are diluted in the ejaculate volume, for this reason the ejaculates with more volume present less sperm count.

基于网络药理学和分子对接预测红花绿绒蒿活性成分抗肝纤维化的作用机制

目的运用网络药理学和分子对接技术,研究红花绿绒蒿抗肝纤维化的作用机制。方法通过TCMSP、SwissTarget和PubChem数据库获取红花绿绒蒿的主要有效成分及作用靶点,从GeneCards和OMIM数据库获取肝纤维化相关疾病靶点,然后利用Venny2.1获取两者交集的共同靶点,将其导入STRING数据库构建共同靶点的蛋白互相作用网络,应用Cytoscape3.6.1软件构建“成分-靶点-疾病”通路网络。最后采用Autodocktools(v1.5.6)将核心成分与关键靶点进行分子对接验证。结果获取117个有效成分的作用靶点与6423个疾病靶点,两者取交集后共获得251个交集靶点;GO与KEGG富集分析显示红花绿绒蒿有效成分可能参与AGE-RAGE、化学致癌-受体激活、PI3K-AKT等信号通路来逆转肝纤维化;分子对接显示,红花绿绒蒿核心成分与关键靶点SRC、HSP9OAA1、maPK1和maPK3具有较好的结合能。结论红花绿绒蒿可能作用于SRC、HSP9OAA1、maPK1和maPK3等关键靶点,通过AGE-RAGE、脂质与动脉粥样硬化、化学致癌-受体激活和PI3K-AKT等信号通路来发挥抗肝纤维化作用。

Factors associated with diabetic retinopathy screening and regular eye checkup practice among diabetic patients attending Felege Hiwot Specialized Hospital

AIM: To identify associated factors of diabetic retinopathy(dR) screening and ey e check-up practice among diabetes mellitus(dM) patients attending Felege Hiwot Specialized ***: An institution-based cross-sectional study was applied from October 4, 2019 to January 12, 2020 at Felege Hiwot Specialized Hospital. A systematic random sampling technique was used to recruit participants and an interviewer-administered questionnaire was employed to collect the data. The collected data were entered into Epi Info version 7 and transposed to SPSS version 24 for statistical analysis. descriptive statistics were executed and associated factors were identified using binary logistic regression. The strength of association between the independent and the outcome variable was determined using an adjusted odds ratio(AOR) with 95% confidence interval(CI). RESULTS: Four hundred and six participants partake with a response rate of 95.7% and a mean age of 47±11.5y. The magnitude of dR screening was 308(75.9%, 95%CI: 71.5%, 79.8%). Higher educational level(AOR=3.25;95%CI: 1.40, 8.78), good knowledge of dR(AOR=2.50;95%CI: 1.55, 4.46), and family history of dM(AOR=2.15;95%CI: 1.41,3.85) were significantly associated with dR screening. On the other side, rural residence [AOR=3.11(1.89, 5.02)] and undesirable attitudes toward dR [AOR=5.65(3.14, 8.76)] were significantly associated with poor regular eye checkup ***: Most of the participants are screened for dR. Higher education, family history, and good knowledge are associated with dR screening. In addition, rural residence and undesirable attitudes toward dR are associated with regular eye checkup practice.

BACKGROUNd: The study aims to determine whether shifting to professional emergency department(Ed) teams leads to a higher rate of radiologic ***: We retrospectively analyzed a total of 2,000 patients presenting to the Ed of a tertiary teaching hospital in two time periods: group 1(G1) comprised 1,000 consecutive patients enrolled from december 21, 2012 to January 5, 2013(all patients were examined by an internal medicine specialist);group 2(G2) comprised 1,000 consecutive patients enrolled from december 21, 2018 to January 3, 2019(all patients were examined by an emergency physician).RESULTS: The chest X-ray(CXR) was performed in 40.6% of all patients. There was no difference in the frequency of CXR(38.9% in G1 vs. 42.3% in G2, P=0.152). More CXRs were performed in G2 patients older than 65 years, in female patients older than 65 years, in patients presenting during the evening and night shifts or off-hours, in patients with a history of malignancy, in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, and in patients with bradycardia, but fewer in patients presenting with arrhythmia. No difference in the rates of pathological CXR was found(47.3% in G1 vs. 52.2% in G2, P=0.186). Compared with G2, higher sensitivity and specificity were obtained for the binary logistic regression model predicting pathological findings in ***: Shifting to professional Ed teams does not increase radiologic workup. By implementing deliberate usage of ultrasound, some self-governing procedures, case-oriented investigations, and center-specific recommendations, unnecessary radiologic workup can be avoided. Professional Ed teams could lead to a higher standard of emergency care.

目的:探讨MRI在肝脏炎性假瘤(IPL)诊断中的价值。材料与方法:回顾性分析经临床病理证实的16例肝脏炎性假瘤患者的MRI检查资料,并对其MRI表现和病理学检查结果进行对照。结果:16例共发现18个病灶。T1WI上13个病灶为低信号,5个为等信号;T2WI上14个病灶呈高或稍高信号,3个病灶为等信号。多期动态增强扫描显示IPL动脉期大多数病灶无明显强化,3个病灶可见强化;门静脉期和延迟期可见不同程度强化,强化方式多样,常见强化形式为周边不规则环形强化或结节状强化,或呈分隔样强化,且强化持续时间较长。结论:MRI多期动态增强扫描反映了IPL的病理学特征,对IPL的诊断与鉴别诊断具有重要价值。

目的:探讨MRI对ACL损伤的诊断准确率及其对临床治疗的指导意义。材料与方法:回顾性分析80例临床诊断为ACL损伤的患者行关节镜术前的MRI检查资料,依关节镜诊断为金标准,将MRI诊断结果与关节镜诊断进行对比。结果:MRI诊断ACL损伤的灵敏度、特异度、准确度分别为97.1%,93.3%和95.0%。MRI和关节镜对ACL损伤具有极好的诊断一致性,Kappa值为0.90。结论:MRI对ACL损伤的诊断具有较高的准确度,对临床治疗方案的选择具有重要指导意义。
