Behind armour blunt trauma(BABT)is a body injury resulting from the deformation of the back surface of armour as a result of a bullet *** the case of textile body armour,the severity of the injury may depend on the material of the fibres,but also on the geometric structure of the *** article focuses on experimental research into injuries of the human body protected by ballistic packets made of biaxial and triaxial fabrics,during a non-penetrating impact from a Parabellum 9 mm×19 mm Full Metal Jacket(FMJ)bullet,at a speed of 406±5 m/*** experimental research,the fabrics had a comparable surface weight and were made of the same Kevlar^(■)29 *** ballistic packages were made of 30 *** part of the work,a physical model of the human body was *** human body model consisted of a model of the heart,lungs,and skeletal and muscular *** the bullet impact,the pressure forces were recorded using sensors located at selected points of the human *** bullets hit five selected places on the body that were considered critical,from the point of view of maintaining a human’s vital *** was found that,during firing,pressure increases both at the site of impact and in the internal organs,which can lead to multi-organ *** a result of the experimental analysis,it has been shown that the pressures exerted on specific organs are always lower in the case of body protection with a ballistic packet made of triaxial fabrics,compared to a packet made of biaxial fabrics.

In this paper, we are interested in collective behaviors of many interacting Lorenz strange attractors. With an intermediate chion coupling between the attractors,a new remarkable synchronization of well orgtried structuxes merges as a result of two competing mechanisms: temporal chaos and spatial chsive stabilization. A window of the coupling parazneter for coherent structures is found numerically. Different from all exist ing scenarios of routes to chaos (period doubling, intermittency and strange attractors), an algorithmetic increase of wavenumbers before an abrupt change to chaos (compared to the periodic doubling geometrical) is unexpectedly discovered. Metastable states are also ob served in simulations.

Aims It is known that taxonomic diversity can be predicted by the spatial configuration of the habitat,in particular by its area and degree of ***,taxonomic diversity is a poor predictor of ecosystem *** functional diversity is strongly linked to the func-tionality and stability of ecosystems,little is known about how changes in the spatial configuration of the habitat affect functional *** this study,we evaluated whether the spatial configuration of forest patches predicts the functional diversity of plants in a fragmented *** Five functional leaf traits(leaf dry matter content,leaf punch force,specific leaf area,leaf size and leaf thickness)were measured for 23 dominant plant species in 20 forest patches in a naturally fragmented forest on the yucatan ***-weighted multivariate and individual trait metrics of functional diversity were calculated and cor-related with size,degree of isolation and the shape of forest *** Findings Patch shape was negatively correlated with multivariate and individ-ual trait(leaf dry matter content and leaf size)metrics of functional *** isolation measures were also negatively correlated with individual trait(leaf dry matter content,leaf punch force and leaf size)metrics of functional *** other words,greater patch shape irregularity and isolation degree impoverish plant func-tional *** is the first report of the negative effects of patch shape irregularity and isolation on the functional diversity of plant communities in a forest that has been fragmented for a long time.

Salmonella enterica has a wide diversity,with numerous serovars belonging to six different subspecies with dynamic animal-host *** FimH protein is the adhesin mediating binding to various cells,and slight amino acid discrepancy significantly affects the adherence *** date,the general function of FimH variability across dif-ferent subspecies of Salmonella enterica has not been *** investigate the biological functions of FimH among the six Salmonella enterica subspecies,the present study performed several assays to determine biofilm for-mation,Caenorhabditis elegans killing,and intestinal porcine enterocyte cell IPEC-J2 adhesion by using various FimH allele *** general,allelic mutations in both the lectin and pilin domains of FimH could cause changes in bind-ing affnity,such as the N79S *** also observed that the N79S variation in Salmonella Dublin increased the adhesive ability of IPEC-J2 ***,a new amino acid substitution,T260M,within the pilin domain in one subspecies llb strain beneficial to binding to cells was highlighted in this study,even though the biofilm-forming and Caenorhabditis elegans-killing abilities exhibited no significant differences in *** with point muta-tions being a natural tendency due to positive selection in harsh environments,we speculate that allelic variation T26oM probably contributes to pathoadaptive evolution in Salmonella enterica subspecies llb.

On May 29, 2017, the MW6.6 Poso earthquake occurred in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, causing moderate damages. The mainshock rupture and primary aftershock cluster occurred in the active Palolo-Sausu tectonic zone, and some aftershocks also took place around the Tokararu fault. However, the rupture mechanism of this earthquake and its relation to regional tectonics are not clear. In this study, the rupture process of the Poso mainshock is estimated by finite-fault waveform inversion, which is constrained by teleseismic bodies and surface waves. The rupture propagates upward unilaterally in a southwest-dipping moderate-angle(~34°) normal fault beneath Tokorondo Mountains, with a notable~15% initial moment release at the first 4 s of the ~12 s rupture duration. The average and peak slip are0.5 m and 1.5 m, respectively. The rupture velocity is relatively slow(less than 2.5 km/s), and the Coulomb stress changes due to the mainshock are obtained using the inverted coseismic slip.

Compatible taper and stem volume equations for Larix kaempferi(Japanese larch) species of South Korea

In this study, compatible taper and stem volume equations were developed for Larix kaempferi species of South Korea. The dataset was split into two groups： 80% of the data were used in model fitting and the remaining 2o% were used for validation. The compatible MB76 equations were used to predict the diameter outside bark to a specific height, the height to a specific diameter and the stem volume of the species. The result of the stem volume analysis was compared with the existing stem volume model of Larix kaempferi species of South Korea which was developed by the Korea Forest Research Institute and with a simple volume model that was developed with fitting dataset in this study. The compatible model provided accurate prediction of the total stem volume when compared to the existing stem volume model and with a simple volume model. It is concluded that the compatible taper and stem volume equations are more convenient to use and therefore it is recommended to be applied in the Larix kaempferi species of South Korea.

Objectives: Diabetes is one of the most life-threatening chronic metabolic disorders and is considered a global health problem due to its prevalence and incidence. In Morocco, several herbal preparations are utilized to treat this disease. For this reason, the current study aimed to identify and to collect data about the medicinal plants utilized in folk medicine for the treatment of diabetes in the Beni Mellal region of ***: An ethnobotanical survey was carried out among 400 herbalists, competent villagers and traditional healers from the Beni Mellal region through direct interviews using a semistructured ***: Forty-five medicinal plants belonging to 25 families were identified for their use in diabetes treatment. Interview results showed that the most frequently used plants were Olea europaea, Salvia officinalis, Allium sativum and Trigonella foenum-graecum, with a relative frequency of citation values of24.3%, 23.0%, 22.5% and 20.5%, respectively. Moreover, in this study, the Fabaceae family was the most commonly reported plant family, and the leaves and roots were the most commonly used parts, for the treatment of ***: The Beni Mellal region of Morocco has an important floristic biodiversity of plants used to treat diabetes in traditional medicinal practice. This result provides a good database for pharmacological screenings in the search for plant-based antidiabetic medications.

In a recent article, Chen et aL [Electrochimica Acta, 2014, 130： 279] presented their fabrication and characterization results on a graphene/n-Si solar cell where the Au nanoparticles were inserted in graphene to increase its optical and electrical properties. The higher efficiency of the device was attributed to increased conductivity of graphene after doping with Au nanoparticles. However, the knowledge in the field of Schottky diode solar cells relates this to increased band bending at the junction. Also, to explain the instability behaviour, they concluded that the growth of silicon oxide on the Si surface or oxygen adsorption on the window layer resulted in the device performance increasing initially and decreasing in the end. However, this instability seems to be due to variation in series resistance reduced at the beginning because of slightly lowered Fermi level and increased at the end by the self-compensation by deep in-diffusion ofAu nanoparticles into n-Si layer. We also propose that inserting a very thin p-type layer at the junction will enhance the carrier collection and performance of this device.
