A novel method for objectively, rapidly and accurately evaluating burn depth via near infrared spectroscopy

The accurate and objective evaluation of burn depth is a significant challenge in burn wound ***,we used near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS)technology to measure the different depth of thermal burns in ex vivo porcine *** on the intensity of the spectral signals and the diffuse reflection theory,we extracted the optical parameters involved in functional(total hemoglobin andwater content)and structural(tissue scattered size and scattered particles)features that reflect the changes in burn ***,we applied support vector regression to construct a model including the optical property parameters and the burn ***,we histologically verified the burn depth data collected via *** results showed that our inversion model could achieve an average relative error of about 7.63%,while the NIRS technology diagnostic accuracy was in the range of 50μ*** the first time,this novel technique provides physicians with real-time burn depth information objectively and accurately.

A simple and sensitive method for the determination of free fatty acids (FFAs) using acridone-9-ethyl-p-toluenesulfonate (AETS) as fluorescence derivatization reagent by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been developed. Free fatty acid derivatives were separated on Eclipse XDB-Cs column with a good baseline resolution and detected with the fluorescence which excitation and emission wavelengths of derivatives were set at λex=404 and λem=440nm, respectively. Identification of 19 fatty acid derivatives was carried out by online post-column mass spectrometry with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) source under positive-ion detection mode. 19 FFAs from the extract of Lomatogonium rotation are sensitively determined. The results indicate that the plant Lomatogonium rotatum enr.ches an abundance of FFAs and FFAs of higher contents mainly focus on that of even carbon atoms C14, C16 and C18. The validation of the method including linearity, repeatability, and detection limits was examined. Most linear correlation coefficients for fatty acid derivatives are >0.9989, and detection limits (at signal-to-noise of 3:1) are 12.3-43.7 fmol. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) of the peak areas and retention times for 19 FFAs standards are producible for the separation determination of FFAs from the extract of Lomatogonium rotatum with satisfactory results.

The design of a Ka dual-band circular polarizer by inserting a dielectric septum in the middle of the circular waveguide is discussed here. The dielectric septum is located in fixing slots, and by adjusting the dimension of the dual-compensation slots which are built in the orthogonal plane, the phase difference of 90° at the center frequency for the dual-band can be achieved. Furthermore, the gradual changing structures at both ends of the dielectric septum are built for impedance matching for both ex and Ey polarizations. The simple structure of this kind of polarizer can reduce the influence of manufacturing inaccuracy in the Ka-band. The measured phase difference is within 90°± 4.5° for both bands. In addition, the return losses for both ex and Ey polarizations are better than -15dB

Current status and recent advances of liver transplantation from donation after cardiac death

The last decade saw increased organ donation activity from donors after cardiac death (DCD). This contributed to a signif icant proportion of transplant activity. Despite certain drawbacks, liver transplantation from DCD donors continues to supplement the donor pool on the backdrop of a severe organ shortage. Understanding the pathophysiology has provided the basis for modulation of DCD organs that has been proven to be effective outside liver transplantation but remains experimental in liver transplantation models. Research continues on how best to further increase the utility of DCD grafts. Most of the work has been carried out exploring the use of organ preservation using machine assisted perfusion. Both ex-situ and in-situ organ perfusion systems are tested in the liver transplantation setting with promising results. Additional techniques involved pharmacological manipulation of the donor, graft and the recipient. Ethical barriers and end-of-life care pathways are obstacles to widespread clinical application of some of the recent advances to practice. It is likely that some of the DCD offers are in fact probably "prematurely" of-fered without ideal donor management or even prior to brain death being established. The absolute benef its of DCD exist only if this form of donation supplements the existing deceased donor pool; hence, it is worthwhile revisiting organ donation process enabling us to identify counter remedial measures.

＜正＞Objectives:To evaluate the influence of continuous infusion of diluted hydrochloric acid（diluted-HCl） during radiofrequency ablation（RFA） on the size of the ablated lesion produced. Methods:experiments were performed in twenty excised porcine livers using three different treatment modalities: （1） normal saline-enhanced RFA（NS-RFA）:normal saline is pumped into ablated tissue during RFA.（2） hydrochloric acid-enhanced RFA（HCl-RFA）:3mol/L diluted-HCl is continuous infusion into ablated tissue during RFA.（3） diluted hydrochloric acid ablation（DHAA）:3mol/L diluted-HCl is only injected into hepatic tissue without *** produce twenty HCl-RFA and NS-RFA lesions using monopolar perfusion electrode（RITA UniBlate） connected to a commercially available RF generator（RITA Medical Systems Model 1500X;AngioDynamics,Queensbury,NY） at 15min/103°C/30W,and twenty DHAA lesions using 18-gauge chiba needle,*** ablated lesions are evaluated both macroscopically and *** dimensions are compared among HCl-RFA,NS-RFA and DHAA with Kruskal-Wallis rank sum *** is set at 0.017. Results:The ablated lesions appear as ellipse or irregular in shape,well-demarcated with normal liver ***±standard deviations volumes,longitudinal diameters and transverse diameters of NS-RFA lesions are 11.24±0.29 cm3,3.49±0.07 cm and 2.48±0.03 cm,and those of HCl-RFA lesions are 58.14±3.05 cm3,5.51±0.05 cm and 4.49±0.11 cm,and those of DHAA lesions are 4.41±0.16 cm3,2.43±0.08 cm and 1.86±0.03 cm,*** mean dimensions of HCl-RFA lesions are the largest among the three types of ablation（P ＜ 0.001）. Conclusions:Under the present experimental condition,a combination of RF plus diluted-HCl infusion can generate larger ablated lesions than RF combined with normal saline infusion or DHAA in porcine livers ex vivo.

提出了一种自适应高速脉冲式电磁光阀．由于电磁光阀存在较大的不确定性，为了在基本结构确定的情况下，通过调整驱动电流的波形参数，提高光阀的工作频率，采用了实验的方法，观测在多种可控参数取不同数值时光阀的工作状态，然后据此观测数据，利用遗传算法，设计具有自适应性的模糊控制系统．实验结果表明，该电磁光阀具有不影响光路特性、结构轻巧、使用寿命长、开关频率高和与之相应的足够大的开关孔径等优点．

目的利用卫星遥感技术对长江南京段洲滩钉螺孳生地进行监测研究。方法收集复盖长江南京段区域的LandsatMSS遥感片和1980～1989年江苏省钉螺面积数，比较分析钉螺面积的变化趋势。以ERDASImaging支撑软件分析遥感片，将LandsatMSS4个波段的数据以“TasseledCap”主成份分析模型分类组合成3个波段和15类后，提取出湿地地物特征。结果收集到1983年和1994年3个时段共三辐LandsatMSS遥感图。3个时段的湿地空间分布模型反映了特大洪水位与丰水位间、丰水位与枯水位间的湿地变化，从而得出钉螺孳生地分布与钉螺扩散的二个空间模型。并且在遥感图像中可直接正确地测算出钉螺孳生地分布面积数和钉螺扩散潜在面积数。长江南岸和北岸因决堤洪水淹没的二大区域在1983年的遥感片上清晰地显示出来。江苏省1980～1989年江滩钉螺面积与全省有螺面积变化呈一致的指数曲线上升趋势，但以1983年特大洪水后有螺面积上升非常明显。结论这一技术为研究钉螺孳生地和钉螺扩散范围、预测下一年度钉螺面积提供新方法。
