This paper demonstrates the possibility of achieving a higher Energy Efficiency Ratio (eer) for Room Air Conditioners (RACs) that complies with the Saudi energy efficiency standards and satisfies the energy conservation requirements for the Saudi Building Code (SBC). This study considers several design options for improving the performance and efficiency of the RAC in comparison with a baseline RAC unit manufactured by Al-Zamil Company of Saudi Arabia. These design options include the number of condenser and evaporator rows, fins density, frontal area, compressor types, and refrigerant types. The experimental data obtained is through testing the units in Calorimeter according to standard ASHRAE-16. Also, the uncertainty in measurements and its propagation are included in this study. This paper reports the results of a set of measurements carried out on a modified RAC and compares them with the tested baseline RAC unit at similar load conditions. The experimental results indicate the effectiveness of increasing the number of condenser rows in comparison with other design options considered for achieving higher eer for RACs.

Cancelable biometrics are required in most remote access applications that need an authentication stage such as the cloud and Internet of Things(IoT)*** objective of using cancelable biometrics is to save the original ones from hacking attempts.A generalized algorithm to generate cancelable templates that is applicable on both single and multiple biometrics is proposed in this paper to be considered for cloud and IoT *** original biometric is blurred with two co-prime ***,it can be recovered as the Greatest Common Divisor(GCD)between its two blurred *** changes if induced in the biometric image prior to processing with co-prime operators prevents the recovery of the original biometric image through a GCD ***,the ability to change cancelable templates is guaranteed,since the owner of the biometric can pre-determine and manage the minimal change induced in the biometric ***,we test the utility of the proposed algorithm in the single-and multi-biometric *** multi-biometric scenario depends on compressing face,fingerprint,iris,and palm print images,simultaneously,to generate the cancelable *** metrics such as Equal Error Rate(eer)and Area and Receiver Operator Characteristic curve(AROC)are *** results on single-and multi-biometric scenarios show high AROC values up to 99.59%,and low eer values down to 0.04%.

Geothermal heat pumps （GHPs） are an attractive proposition for renewable energy worldwide as it uses energy naturally stored in the earth. The Earth is a very resourceful form of energy, using the natural solar energy collection and heat storage capabilities as an infinite heat source/heat sink at the base of permeable pavements, which can provide excellent temperature gradients for GHP＇s. Experimental rigs were setup up at The University of Edinbttrgh for a combined permeable pavement and GHP system. At the base of a pavement structure （approximately 1 meter） below the ground＇s surface, temperatures are constant of 10℃ in the U.K all year round. The GHP performance efficiency was analysed by the coefficient of performance （COP） in a heating cycle and the energy efficiency ratio （eer） in a cooling cycle. The mean COP and eer for both systems averaged between 2-4.5 and 3-5 respectively. The combined GHP and pavement structure operated at an optimum efficiency for both heating and cooling cycles and has shown to be unaffected by higher summer or lower winter temperatures. This hybrid system is an attractive renewable energy technology and has additional environmental benefits such as urban runoff reuse and recycling.

The presenilin genes(PSEN1 and PSEN2)are mainly responsible for causing early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease,harboring~300 causative mutations,and representing~90%of all mutations associated with a very aggressive disease *** 1 is the catalytic core of theγ-secretase complex that conducts the intramembranous proteolytic excision of multiple transmembrane proteins like the amyloid precursor protein,Notch-1,N-and E-cadherin,LRP,Syndecan,Delta,Jagged,CD44,ErbB4,and *** 1 plays an essential role in neural progenitor maintenance,neurogenesis,neurite outgrowth,synaptic function,neuronal function,myelination,and ***,an imbalance caused by mutations in presenilin 1/γ-secretase might cause aberrant signaling,synaptic dysfunction,memory impairment,and increased Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio,contributing to neurodegeneration during the initial stages of Alzheimer’s disease *** review focuses on the neuronal differentiation dysregulation mediated by PSEN1 mutations in Alzheimer’s ***,we emphasize the importance of Alzheimer’s disease-induced pluripotent stem cells models in analyzing PSEN1 mutations implication over the early stages of the Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis throughout neuronal differentiation impairment.
