Mountains are paramount for exploring biodiversity patterns due to the mosaic of topographies and climates encompassed over short *** research has traditionally focused on taxonomic diversity when investigating changes along elevational gradients,but other facets should be *** first time,we simultaneously assessed elevational trends in taxonomic,functional,and phylogenetic diversity of woody plants in Andean tropical montane forests and explored their underlying ecological and evolutionary *** investigation covered four transects(traversing ca.2200 m a.s.l.) encompassing 114 plots of 0.1 ha across a broad latitudinal range(ca.10°).Using Hill numbers to quantify abundance-based diversity among 37,869 individuals we observed a consistent decrease in taxonomic,functional,and phylogenetic diversity as elevation increased,although the decrease was less pronounced for higher Hill *** exception was a slight increase in phylogenetic diversity when dominant species were *** decrease in taxonomic and functional diversity might be attributed to an environmental filtering process towards highlands,where the increasingly harsher conditions exclude species and functional ***,the differences in steepness decrease between Hill orders suggest that rare species disproportionately contribute to functional *** phylogenetic diversity the shifting elevational trend between Hill orders indicates a greater than previously considered influence in central Andean highlands of tropical lowlands originated species with strong niche conservatism relative to distantly related temperate *** could be explained by a decreasing presence and abundance of temperate,extratropical taxa towards the central Andes relative to northern or southern Andes,where they are more prevalent.

baCKGROUND synaptotagmins(sYTs)are a family of 17 membrane transporters that function as calcium ion sensors during the release of Ca2+-dependent neurotransmitters and ***,few studies have reported whether members of the sYT family play a role in glucose uptake in diabetic retinopathy(DR)through Ca2+/glucose transporter-1(GLUT1)and the possible regulatory mechanism of *** To elucidate the role of the sYT family in the regulation of glucose transport in retinal pigment epithelial cells and explore its potential as a therapeutic target for the clinical management of *** DR was induced by streptozotocin in C57BL/6j mice and by high glucose medium in human retinal pigment epithelial cells(ARPE-19).Bioinformatics analysis,reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction,Western blot,flow cytometry,ELIsA,HE staining,and TUNEL staining were used for *** six differentially expressed proteins(sYT2,sYT3,sYT4,sYT7,sYT11,and sYT13)were found between the DR and control groups,and sYT4 was highly *** induces sYT4 overexpression,manipulates Ca2+influx to induce GLUT1 fusion with the plasma membrane,promotes abnormal expression of the glucose transporter GLUT1 and excessive glucose uptake,induces ARPE-19 cell apoptosis,and promotes DR *** deficiency inhibits the proteasomal degradation of sYT4 in DR,resulting in sYT4 accumulation and enhanced GLUT1 fusion with the plasma membrane,and these effects were blocked by oe-Parkin ***,dysregulation of the myelin transcription factor 1(Myt1)-induced transcription of sYT4 in DR further activated the sYT4-mediated stimulus-secretion coupling process,and this process was inhibited in the oe-MYT1-treated *** Our study reveals the key role of sYT4 in regulating glucose transport in retinal pigment epithelial cells during the pathogenesis of DR and the underlying mechanism and suggests potential therapeutic targets for clinical DR.

Recently, the space bvp of real or complex numbers consisting of all sequences whose differences are in the space lp has been studied by basar, Altay [Ukrainian Math. j. 55（1）（2003）, 136-147], where 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞. The main purpose of the present paper is to introduce the space bvp（F） of sequences of p-bounded variation of fuzzy numbers. Moreover, it is proved that the space bvp（F） includes the space lp（F） and also shown that the spaces bvp（F） and lp（F） axe isomorphic for 1 ≤ p ≤∞. Furthermore, some inclusion relations have been given.

To explore highly active and thermomechanical stable air electrodes for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(ITsOFCs),10mol%Ta5+doped in the B site of strontium ferrite perovskite oxide(srTa_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)O_(3-δ),sTF)is investigated and *** effects of Ta^(5+)doping on structure,transition metal reduction,oxygen nonstoichiometry,thermal expansion,and electrical performance are evaluated *** 10mol%Ta^(5+)doping,the thermal expansion coefficient(TEC)decreased from 34.1×10^(-6)(srFeO_(3-δ))to 14.6×10^(-6) K^(-1)(sTF),which is near the TEC of electrolyte(13.3×10^(-6) K^(-1) for sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(1.9),sDC),indicates excellent thermomechanical *** 550-750℃,sTF shows superior oxygen vacancy concentrations(0.262 to 0.331),which is critical in the oxygen-reduction reaction(ORR).Oxygen temperature-programmed desorption(O_(2)-TPD)indicated the thermal reduction onset temperature of iron ion is around 420℃,which matched well with the inflection points on the thermos-gravimetric analysis and electrical conductivity *** 600℃,the sTF electrode shows area-specific resistance(AsR)of 0.152Ω·cm^(2) and peak power density(PPD)of 749 mW·cm^(-2).ORR activity of sTF was further improved by introducing 30wt%sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(1.9)(sDC)powder,sTF+sDC composite cathode achieving outstanding AsR value of 0.115Ω·cm2 at 600℃,even comparable with benchmark cobalt-containing cathode,ba_(0.5)sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(BsCF).Distribution of relaxation time(DRT)analysis revealed that the oxygen surface exchange and bulk diffusion were improved by forming a composite *** 650℃,sTF+sDC composite cathode achieving an outstanding PPD of 1117 mW·cm^(-2).The excellent results suggest that sTF and sTF+sDC are promising air electrodes for IT-sOFCs.

Influence of solid Fraction on Gravity segregation of sn in A1-20sn Alloy Casting

The influence of solid fraction of Al-20sn alloy mushy on gravity segregation of sn in casting was studied . The relationship between solid fraction and the temperature of alloy mushy and that between solid fraction of alloy mushy and size of sn particle in ingot were determined. The results show that the relationship between solid fraction and the temperature of alloy mushy was fs=1683-4.86t+0.003 5t2. The extent of gravity segregation of sn in casting reduced gradually with the increase of solid fraction of alloy mushy. When solid fraction of alloy mushy was larger than 40%, the gravity segregation of sn in casting could be removed basically, and the relationship between solid fraction of alloy mushy and size of sn particle in ingot was s=-0.64fs+70.8.

Industry decarbonization requires the development of highly efficient and flexible technologies relying on renewable energy resources,especially biomass and solar/wind *** the case of pure oxygen production,oxygen transport membranes(OTMs)appear as an alternative technology for the cryogenic distillation of air,the industrially-established process of producing ***,OTMs could provide oxygen from different sources(air,water,CO_(2),etc.),and they are more flexible in adapting to current processes,producing oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furthermore,OTMs can be integrated into catalytic membrane reactors,providing new pathways for different *** first part of this study was focused on electrification on a traditional OTM material(ba_(0.5)sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),imposing different electric currents/voltages along a capillary *** to the emerging joule effect,the membrane-surface temperature and the associated O_(2) permeation flux could be ***,the OTM is electrically and locally heated and reaches 900℃on the surface,whereas the surrounding of the membrane was maintained at 650℃.The O_(2)permeation flux reached for the electrified membranes was~3.7 NmL min^(-1)cm^(-2),corresponding to the flux obtained with an OTM non-electrified at 900℃.The influence of depositing a porous Ce_(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) catalytic/protective layer on the outer membrane surface revealed that lower surface temperatures(830℃)were detected at the same imposed electric ***,the electrification concept was demonstrated in a catalytic membrane reactor(CMR)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was carried *** reaction is very sensitive to temperature,and here,we demonstrate an improvement of the ethylene yield by reaching moderate temperatures in the reaction chamber while the O_(2) injection into the reaction can be easily fine-tuned.

strong>Aim:strong> To carry out a 3D vector reconstruction of the typical cervical vertebra from anatomical sections of the “Korean Visible Human” for educational purposes. strong>Material and Methods:strong> The anatomical subject was a 33-year-old Korean man who died of leukemia. He was 164 cm tall and weighed 55 kg. This man donated his body to science. Her body was frozen and cut into several anatomical sections after an MRI and CT scan. These anatomical sections were made using a special saw called a 0.2 mm thick cryomacrotome. Thus 8100 cuts were obtained. Only the sections numbered 940 to 1200 were used for our study. A segmentation by manual contouring of the different parts of the typical cervical vertebra was made using the software Winsurf version 3.5 on a laptop PC running Windows 7 equipped with a Ram of 8 gigas. strong>Results:strong> Our 3D vector model of the typical cervical vertebra is easily manipulated using the Acrobat 3DPDF interface. Each part of the vertebra accessible in a menu can be displayed, hidden or made transparent, and 3D labels are available as well as educational menus for learning anatomy. strong>Conclusion: strong>This original work constitutes a remarkable educational tool for the anatomical study of the typical cervical vertebra and can also be used as a 3D atlas for simulation purposes for training in therapeutic gestures.

Ionization Process of Atoms by Intense Femtosecond Chirped Laser Pulses

We numerically investigate the ionization mechanism in a real hydrogen atom under intense fem to second chirped laser pulses. The central carrier frequency of the pulses is chosen to be 6.2 eV (λ = 200 nm), which corresponds to the fourth-harmonic of the Ti:sapphire laser. Our simulation of the laser-atom interaction consists on numerically solving the three-dimensional time-dependent schrodinger equation with a spectral method. The unperturbed wave functions and electronic energies of the atomic system were found by using an L2 discretization technique based on the expansion of the wave functions on B-spline functions. The presented results of kinetic energy spectra of the emitted electrons show the sensitivity of the ionization process to the chirp parameter. Particular attention is paid to the important role of the excited bound states involved in the ionization paths.
