The distribution, abundance and intensity of the annelid worm, Piscicola geometra (leeches) infecting Oreochromis niloticus cultured in a rainforest fish pond, South Eastern nigeria was studied over a 12 months period. Three hundred fish were examined of which 48.3% were infected. Infection occurred throughout the year, with a peak.in February. Female fish had a significantly higher intensity of infection( P n males. There was a clear seasonal periodicity in the degree of infection and the distribution of the parasite exhibited an aggregated or contagious model of dispersion. There was a significant positive correlation between the size of the fish and worm burden.

Recent years have seen an explosion in graph data from a variety of scientific,social and technological *** these fields,emotion recognition is an interesting research area because it finds many applications in real life such as in effective social robotics to increase the interactivity of the robot with human,driver safety during driving,pain monitoring during surgery etc.A novel facial emotion recognition based on graph mining has been proposed in this paper to mak. a paradigm shift in the way of representing the face region,where the face region is represented as a graph of nodes and edges and the gSpan frequent sub-graphs mining algorithm is used to find the frequent sub-structures in the graph database of each *** reduce the number of generated sub-graphs,overlap ratio metric is utilized for this *** encoding the final selected sub-graphs,binary classification is then applied to classify the emotion of the queried input facial image using six levels of *** cat swarm intelligence is applied within each level of classification to select proper sub-graphs that give the highest accuracy in that *** experiments have been conducted using Surrey Audio-Visual Expressed Emotion(SAVEE)database and the final system accuracy was 90.00%.The results show significant accuracy improvements(about 2%)by the proposed system in comparison to current published work. in SAVEE database.

The structure and behavior of rotating stall cell were experimentally clarified in a diagonal flow fan. The specific-speed of the fan was 1140 （r/min, m^3/min, m）, and the total pressure-rise coefficient at design flow-rate was 0.345. The static pressure on outer casing wall and the total pressure at rotor inlet and outlet were measured using a high response pressure transducer. The measured data were processed by the use of DPLA technique, and the structure and behavior of rotating stall cell were obtained. As a result, the stall cell extent for circumferential and spanwise direction and the pressure distributions inside stall cell were clarified. The details of stall cell propagation were also shown.

Identification of quantitative trait loci （QTLs） for grain mineral elements can assist in faster and more precise development of micronutrient dense rice varieties through mark.r-assisted breeding. In the present study, QTLs were mapped for Fe and Zn concentrations in two BC2F3 mapping populations derived from the crosses of O. sativa cv Swarna with two different accessions of O. nivara. In all, 10 and 8 QTLs were identified for grain Fe and Zn concentrations in population 1, and 7 and 5 QTLs were identified in population 2, respectively. Eighty percent of the QTLs detected in both populations were derived from O. nivara. Five QTLs for Fe and three QTLs for Zn explained more than 15% phenotypic variance either in interval or composite interval mapping. The locations of O. nivara derived QTLs such as qFe2.1, qFe3.1, qFe8.2 and qZn12.1 were consistently identified in both the populations. Epistatic interaction was observed only between RM106 and RM6 on chromosome 2 and between RM22 and RM7 on chromosome 3 for Fe concentration in population 1. Sixteen candidate genes for metal homeostasis were found to co-locate with 10 QTLs for Fe and Zn concentrations in both the populations. Most of the Fe and Zn QTLs were found to co-locate with QTLs for grain yield and grain quality traits. Some of the major effect QTLs identified can be used to improve rice grain Fe and Zn concentrations.

Mesoporous zinc oxide nanostructures are successfully synthesized via the sol-gel route by using a rice husk.as the template for ethanol sensing at room temperature. The structure and morphology of the nanostructures are characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analyses. The mechanism for the growth of zinc oxide nanostructures over the biotemplate is proposed. SEM and TEM observations also reveal the formation of spherical zinc oxide nanoparticles over the interwoven fibrous network. Multiple sized pores having pore diameter ranging from 10- 4Ohm is also evidenced from the pore size distribution plot. The larger surface area and porous nature of the material lead to high sensitivity （40.93% for 300 ppm of ethanol）, quick.response （42s） and recovery （40 s） towards ethanol at 30014. The porous nature of the interwoven fibre-lik. network.affords mass transportation of ethanol vapor, which results in faster surface accessibility, and hence it acts as a potential candidate for ethanol sensing at room temperature.

In the present study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes （MWCnTs） were treated in an acidic mixture solution, made with nitric and sulfuric acids in a ratio of 3：1 by volume. The durations of the treatment were 100 and 180 min. The defects of these treated MWCnTs were examined using Raman spectroscopy. The attachment of hydroxyl functional groups to the walls of the MWCnTs were verified using FTIR spectroscopy. The dispersion of CnTs with acid treatment is assessed using UV-Vis spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy （SEM）. The results indicate that the duration of the acid treatment has significant effect on both the degree of defects and functionality of the MWCnT. The compressive strength of mortar increased with the addition of the acid-treated MWCnTs; however, no appreciable difference was noted for the two treatment durations under this study.

The present work.focuses mainly on an in vivo evaluation of ultra fine grained titanium （UFG-Ti） obtained by severe plastic deformation （SPD）. The SPD on commercially produced Grade 2 titanium （Cp-Ti） resulted in the refinement of the grain size by several orders of magnitude. Polished surfaces having similar roughness from both UFG-Ti and Cp-Ti were prepared. In vitro test revealed the presence of fibronectin, which was involved in the attachment of the cells to the substrate. Phase contrast micrographs showed the highest signal of fibronectin in UFG-Ti, indicating that it is more cytocompatible than Cp-Ti. In vivo tests, by subcutaneous implantation of the metals in the rats showed the better biocompatibility of UFG-Ti over Cp-Ti. The improved biocompatibility of UFG-Ti was attributed to the presence of surface discontinuities （in the form of nano-defects）, surface energy, higher wettability, surface stress and stable TiO2 films, which increased the protein adsorption on the surface.

We carried out an ethno-medico-biological investigation in the interior of Bhadrak.district, Odisha, India to explore the therapeutic use of traditional plants/animals by local inhabitants. The villagers and rural people used plant and animal species as medicine. We recorded therapeutic use of 18 plant species of 13 families and 12 animal species of seven taxonomic categories. Different plant/animal parts lik. bark. leaf, flower, seed, stem, root, whole plant, oil, blood, milk. urine and flesh were reported as used in raw or cook.d form a.a.nst 17 specific diseases. Prominent diseases treated by plant/animal remedies were asthma, cardiovascular ailments, diabetes, epilepsy, jaundice, malaria, sk.n disorder and rheumatism. This study provides a better database for future studies.

nitric acid functionalized steam activated carbon （nAFSAC） was prepared from waste fluid petroleum cok. （FPC） and used as a support material for the synthesis ofa niMo catalyst （2.5 wt-% ni and 13 wt-% Mo）. The catalyst was then used for the hydrotreatment of light gas oil. The support and catalysts were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） gas adsorption method, X-ray diffraction, H2-temperature programmed reduction, nH3-temperature programmed desorption, CO-chemisorption, mass spetrography, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, Boehm titration, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）. The SEM results showed that the carbon material retained a needle lik. structure after functionalization with HnO3. The Boehm titration, FTIR, and BET results confirmed that the HnO3 functionalized material had moderate acidity, surface functional groups, and mesoporosity respectively. The produced nAFSAC had an inert nature, exhibited the sink.effect and few metal support interactions, and contained functional groups. All of which mak. it a suitable support material for the preparation of a niMo hydrotreating catalyst. Hydrotreating activity studies of the niMo/nAFSAC catalyst were carried out under industrial operating conditions in a laboratory trick.e bed reactor using cok.r light gas oil as the feedstock. A parallel study was performed on the hydrotreating activity of niMo/7-A1203 as a reference catalyst. The hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrogena- tion activities of the niMo/nAFSAC catalyst were 62% and 30%, respectively.
