Electrical contact materials are generally Ag-or Cu-based composites and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical equipments and electronic *** MAX(M is an early transition metal,A is an element from III or IV main groups,and X is carbon or/and nitrogen)phase ceramics display a unique combination of properties and may serve as an ideal reinforcement phase for electrical contact *** biological materials evolved in nature generally exhibit three-dimensional(3D)interpenetrating-phase architectures,which may offer useful inspiration for the architectural design of electrical contact ***,a series of bi-continuous Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2) MAX phase composites with high ceramic contents exceeding 50 vol.%and having micron-and ultrafine-scaled 3D interpenetrating-phase architectures,wherein both constituents were continuous and mutually interspersed,were exploited by pressureless infiltration of Ag melt into partially sintered Ti_(3)SiC_(2) *** mechanical and electrical properties as well as the friction and wear performance of the composites were investigated and revealed to be closely dependent on the ceramic contents and characteristic structural *** composites exhibited a good combination of properties with high hardness over 2.3 GPa,high flexural strength exceeding 530 MPa,decent fracture toughness over 10 MPa·m^(1/2),and good wear resistance with low wear rate at an order of 10^(-5)mm^(3)/(N·m),which were much superior compared to the counterparts made by powder metallurgy *** particular,the hardness,electrical conductivity,strength,and fracture toughness of the composites demonstrated a simultaneous improvement as the structure was refined from micron-to ultrafine-scales at equivalent ceramic *** good combination of properties along with the facile processing route makes the Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2)3D interpenetrating-phase composites appealing for electrical contact applicatio

Objective This study investigated the clinical details and usage of Sa-am acupuncture in Korean medicine clinics and explored how practicing Korean medicine doctors(KMDs)think about Sa-am *** We conducted a questionnaire-based survey of KMDs who utilize Sa-am acupuncture in their *** study comprehensively investigated issues related to clinical application of Sa-am acupuncture,needling techniques used during treatment,training methods,and directions for its future *** We analyzed 572 *** average of 50%of the patients visiting Korean medicine clinics were receiving Sa-am *** most prevalent indication for Sa-am acupuncture use was digestive *** patients’appetite level and digestive function were most frequently used indicators for selecting acupuncture *** prescription compositions,Jung-Gyuk formulas were more frequently used than Seung-Gyuk *** the needle along the flow of the channel or against the flow of the channel was most *** acupuncture style most frequently used in combination with Sa-am acupuncture was Ashi point *** of Sa-am acupuncture included its versatility,easy application,and good *** included the lack of rigorous education and training programs,difficulty in applying the principles for beginners,and insufficient clinical research *** In clinics where Sa-am acupuncture is available,KMDs were providing Sa-am acupuncture to about half of their *** were not using all of the tonification and sedation techniques which may be due to time constraints or simply a lack of ***-am acupuncture demonstrated high utility in clinical practice and high satisfaction based on the efficacy and *** training programs and high-quality research are needed to help expand the use of Sa-am acupuncture.

Objective Atopic dermatitis(AD)is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that may be linked to changes in the gut *** has been proven to be effective in reducing AD symptoms without serious adverse events,but its underlying mechanism is not completely *** purpose of this study was to investigate whether the potential effect of acupuncture on AD is gut *** AD-like skin lesions were induced by applying MC903 topically to the cheek of the *** was done at the Gok-Ji(LI11)***-like symptoms were assessed by lesion scores,scratching behavior,and histopathological changes;intestinal barrier function was measured by fecal output,serum lipopolysaccharide levels,histopathological changes,and mRNA expression of markers involved in intestinal permeability and *** microbiota was profiled using 16S rRNA gene sequencing from fecal *** Acupuncture effectively improved chronic itch as well as the AD-like skin lesions with epidermal thickening,and also significantly altered gut microbiota structure as revealed byβ-diversity indices and analysis of *** beneficial effects were eliminated by antibiotic depletion of gut microbiota,but were reproduced in gut microbiota-depleted mice that received a fecal microbiota transplant from acupuncture-treated ***,AD mice had intestinal barrier dysfunction as indicated by increased intestinal permeability,atrophy of the mucosal structure(reduced villus height and crypt depth),decreased expression of tight junctions and mucus synthesis genes,and increased expression of inflammatory mediators in the *** attenuated these abnormalities,which was gut *** Acupuncture ameliorates AD-like phenotypes in a gut microbiota-dependent manner and some of these positive benefits are explained by modulation of the intestinal barrier,providing new perspective for non-pharmacological strategies for

Fatigue strength of Al7075 notched plates based on the local SED averaged over a control volume

When pointed V-notches weaken structural components, local stresses are singular and their intensities are expressed in terms of the notch stress intensity factors （NSIFs）. These parameters have been widely used for fatigue assessments of welded struc- tures under high cycle fatigue and sharp notches in plates made of brittle materials subjected to static loading. Fine meshes are required to capture the asymptotic stress distributions ahead of the notch tip and evaluate the relevant NSIFs. On the other hand, when the aim is to determine the local Strain Energy Density （SED） averaged in a control volume embracing the point of stress singularity, refined meshes are, not at all, necessary. The SED can be evaluated from nodal displacements and regular coarse meshes provide accurate values for the averaged local SED. In the present contribution, the link between the SED and the NSIFs is discussed by considering some typical welded joints and sharp V-notches. The procedure based on the SED has been also proofed to be useful for determining theoretical stress concentration factors of blunt notches and holes. In the second part of this work an application of the strain energy density to the fatigue assessment of A17075 notched plates is presented. The experimental data are taken from the recent literature and refer to notched specimens subjected to different shot peening treatments aimed to increase the notch fatigue strength with respect to the parent material.

Inverse design of truss lattice materials with superior buckling resistance

Manipulating the architecture of materials to achieve optimal combinations of properties(inverse design)has always been the dream of materials scientists and *** represent an efficient way to obtain lightweight yet strong materials,providing a high degree of *** massive research has been done on lattice architectures,the inverse design problem of complex phenomena(such as structural instability)has remained *** deep neural network and genetic algorithm,we provide a machine-learning-based approach to inverse-design non-uniformly assembled *** basic building blocks,our approach allows us to independently control the geometry and topology of periodic and aperiodic *** an example,we inverse-design lattice architectures with superior buckling performance,outperforming traditional reinforced grid-like and bio-inspired lattices by~30–90%and 10–30%,*** results provide insights into the buckling behavior of beam-based lattices,opening an avenue for possible applications in modern structures and infrastructures.

On three-dimensional stress analysis of periodic notched plates under tension

By using the finite element method,three-dimensional models of a number of periodic blunt and sharp notches subjected to tension loading are *** aim of this research is to investigate the thickness effect on the location of maximum stress and notch stress intensity factor(NSIF)of corresponding blunt and sharp periodic notches *** this aim,different number of periodic notches as well as different notch opening angles are *** for two-dimensional plates weakened by periodic notches some results are available in the literature,this paper first faces the problem of three-dimensional cases.A total of about 100 geometrical configurations are *** is found that,the effect of plate thickness of periodic notched components can be characterized by the relative value with respect to the depth of the notch(H/t).For the blunt periodic notches with relatively higher values of H/t ratio,the value of the maximum tensile stress is located near the free *** the contrary for lower values of H/t,it is placed at the middle *** same behaviour is observed for sharp periodic notches in terms of notch stress intensity factors.

The electronic states of molecules made of electropositive and electronegative components result from the interference between the covalent configurations and the ionic configurations. This work shows complex aspects of these ionic-covalent couplings in small molecules such as Li2H, Li2F, and Li4F. The extension of this type of analysis to the adsorption of the electrophilic molecules on the metal clusters or on the metal surfaces is supposed to lead to a radically new interpretation of the observed physical and chemical properties.

Context: Kidney transplantation is today the standard treatment for patients suffering from chronic end-stage renal failure. Living kidney donation offers many advantages for the recipient, but requires a subject without comorbidities to undergo surgery. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of life and psychosocial experience of living kidney donors after donation. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study with an analytical aim, involving living kidney donors during the period from January 2016 to April 2019 at CHUGA. (University Hospital Center of Grenoble Alpes in France). Results: Our study shows that out of 88 donors, 70 responded to our questionnaires, representing a prevalence of 80.5%. The average age of our donors was 55.6 years with a female predominance. Seven out of eight domains of the SF36 score had a good quality of life after donation and the donation did not alter their psychosocial experience. The majority of our donors expressed their pride and enthusiasm, did not regret having saved a life, and this experience was considered positive. Conclusion: Kidney donation does not have a negative impact on quality of life and psychosocial life. The majority of donors do not regret their donation. The dissemination of such results could make it possible to increase the number of kidney transplants from living donors in France, especially in our African countries where the management of ESRD remains a real public health problem.

Gangliosides are structurally and functionally polymorphic sialic acid containing glycosphingolipids that are widely distributed in the human *** play important roles in protecting us against immune attacks,yet they can become targets for autoimmunity and act as receptors for microbes,like the influenza viruses,and toxins,such as the cholera *** expression patterns of gangliosides vary in different tissues,during different life periods,as well as in different *** against gangliosides(AGA)can target immune attack e.g.,against neuronal cells and neutralize their complement inhibitory *** are important especially in acquired demyelinating immune-mediated neuropathies,like Guillain–Barrésyndrome(GBS)and its variant,the Miller–Fisher syndrome(MFS).They can emerge in response to different microbial agents and immunological ***,they can be involved in a variety of *** addition,antibodies against GM3 were found in the sera of patients vaccinated with Pandemrix®,who developed secondary narcolepsy,strongly supporting the autoimmune etiology of the disease.
