Allicin, an antioxidant, is known for providing garlic with.its unique fragrance and taste, as well as for its antimicrobial properties. Black garlic, a fermented form of garlic, contains h.gh.r levels of antioxidants th.n fresh.garlic. Antioxidants play a vital role in alleviating cellular stress during viral infections. Viral infections result in oxidative stress th.ough.th. production of reactive oxidative species (ROS). A prolonged state of oxidative stress can result in cell death. dNA da.a.e, and disease progression. In th.s study, black garlic extract (BGE) is evaluated for its ability to mitigate cytopath.c effects and oxidative stress caused by h.rpes simplex virus-2 (h.V-2) infections in vitro. Antiviral assays were performed to determine th. percent of viral inh.bition resulting from treatment with.th. BGE. ROS-GloTM h.sub>2O2 assays were th.n completed to measure th. post-infection ROS levels of BGE-treated virus and cells. Th. results th.s far suggest th.t BGE may inh.bit viral infection and decrease levels of oxidative stress.

Th.s paper is a furth.r elaboration of th. auth.r’s Time dilation Cosmology (TdC) h.lograph.c model th.t ties gravitation and celestial mech.nics and kinematics directly to time dilation, resolving all th. major conundrums in astroph.sics, and ties astroph.sics directly to quantum ph.sics. It begins with.a brief summary of th. TdC model and contains th. new derivation for th. time dilation version of th. formula for summing relativistic velocities, Einstein’s gravitational constant and th. time dilation versions for th. Lorentz factor and th. Euclidean norm of th. 3d velocity vector, th. two of wh.ch.can th.n be used in th. Four-velocity formula. It is demonstrated h.w orbital curvature is manifested as th. resultant of two time dilation-manifested velocities. Th. risk of radiation-induced second cancer and th. late tissue loss due to Off-field doses in radioth.rapy remain a serious concern. Monte Carlo (MC) simulation is currently one of th. most accurate meth.ds for calculating th.se doses. MC simulation model based on th. Particle Simulation Tool (TOPAS) h.s been developed to simulate th. off-field dose of an Elekta Synergy linear accelerator (Linac) emitting 6 MV ph.tons. Measurements were taken in a water ph.ntom using an ionization ch.mber to validate th.s model. Th. Percentage depth.dose (Pdd) at th. depth.of 0.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 cm from th. beam axis for a 10 × 10 cm2 field size was measured and simulated. Off-field dose profiles at th. depth.of 1.5 (dmax), 5.0 and 10.0 cm for field sizes of 5 × 5, 10 × 10, 15 × 15, and 20 × 20 cm2 respectively were measured and simulated. Comparison of measured and simulated off-field dose values sh.wed a good agreement. Th. average gamma passing rate of th. Pdds and profiles curves for off-field doses were 87.5% and 98.11% respectively. Th. local dose difference based on th. Pdd curve between th. measured and simulated was less th.n 6.0 % for all locations. For all field size considered in th.s study, th. average difference between profile curves for off-field dose measured and simulated was 9.1%. Pdds and Profiles curves for off-field dose simulation uncertainties were less th.n 2.0% and 1.0% respectively. TOPAS-MC simulation model developed is a good representation of our 6 MV Linac Elekta Synergy for assessing off-field dose, wh.ch.would be th. primary cause of some secondary cancers.

Butterflies exh.bit h.gh.sensitivity to envi-ronmental ch.nges and represent an important model system for th. study of h.brid zoneorigins and maintenance. h.re, we review th. literature exploring butterfly h.brid zones,with.a special focus on th.ir spatiotemporal dynamics and th. potential mech.nisms th.tcould lead to th.ir movement or stability. We th.n compare different lines of evidenceused to investigate h.brid zone dynamics and discuss th. strength. and weaknesses ofeach.approach. Our goal with.th.s review is to reveal general conditions associated with.h. stability or mobility of butterfly h.brid zones by synth.sizing evidence obtained us-ing different types of da.a.sampled across multiple regions and spatial scales. Finally, wediscuss spatiotemporal dynamics in th. context of a speciation/divergence continuum, th.relevance of h.brid zones for conservation biology, and recommend key topics for futureinvestigation.

Wh.le some research.h.s explored racial and eth.ic differences in disordered eating, th.s study may be th. first to examine th.se differences in orth.rexia nervosa, involving obsessive-compulsive th.ugh.s and beh.viors concerning h.alth. eating, wh.ch.negatively impact one’s life. Adult participants, recruited from college courses and social media, completed an online survey with.th. Orth.rexia Nervosa Inventory (ONI) and th. Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26). Regarding racial and eth.ic background, 743 were Wh.te, 249 were h.spanic, 87 were Black, 61 were Asian or Pacific Islander, and 110 were biracial/multiracial. A MANCOVA revealed th.t th. racial and eth.ic groups did not differ on th. ONI subscales assessing orth.rexic beh.viors, impairments, and emotions, after accounting for gender, BMI, and EAT-26 total scores th.t were covariates. In contrast, a second MANCOVA did reveal group differences on th. EAT-26 subscales, after accounting for gender, BMI, and ONI total scores th.t were covariates. Black participants scored significantly lower th.n th. oth.r racial and eth.ic groups on th. subscale assessing dieting beh.viors ch.0}teristic of anorexia nervosa, and th. subscale assessing binge-eating and purging beh.viors ch.0}teristic of bulimia nervosa. Furth.r, h.spanic participants scored significantly lower th.n Wh.te participants on th. latter subscale. Th.se findings suggest th.t wh.le orth.rexic symptomatology does not differ based on race and eth.icity, a Black race and h.spanic eth.icity may be protective factors a.a.nst disordered eating, perh.ps related eith.r to cultural norms concerning body image or to th. resiliency and social support among th. Black and h.spanic communities.
