SARS-coV-2 variants are associated with different clinical courses in children with MIS-c

Background Recent infection with SARS‑coV-2 in children has been associated with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children(MIS-c).SARS‑coV-2 has undergone different *** publications exist about specific variants and their correlation with the severity of *** this was a single-center,retrospective study including all patients admitted with MIS-c at Rady children’s hospital-San Diego between May 2020 and Ma.c. *** epidemiologic data,including viral genomic information,were obtained from public ***,clinical presentation,laboratory values,and outcomes were obtained from electronic medical *** the analysis included 104 pediatric *** MIS-c waves were *** variants in San Diego during the first wave included clades 20A to *** the second wave,there were variants from clades 20A to c,20G,21c(Epsilon),20I(Alpha),and 20J(Gamma).the third wave had Delta strains(clades 21A,21I,and 21J),and the fourth had Omicron variants(clades 21K,21L,and 22c).MIS-c presented with similar symptoms and laboratory findings across all *** patients were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit(PIcU)(74%)and required inotropic support(63%)during the second *** of the patients required mechanical circulatory support,and only two required invasive ventilatory *** was no *** the various strains of SARS-coV-2 triggered MIS-c with differing severities,with the second wave having a more severe clinical *** the differences in disease severity across variants were due to changes in the virus or other factors remains unknown.

Background:Previously published meta-epidemiological studies focused on Western medicine have identified some trial characteristics that impact the treatment effect of randomized controlled trials(Rcts).Nevertheless,it remains unclear if similar associations exist in Rcts on chinese herbal medicine(chM).Further,chinese medicine-related characteristics have not been explored ***:to investigate trial characteristics related to treatment effect estimates on chM *** strategy:this meta-epidemiological study sea.c.ed 5 databases for systematic reviews on chM treatment published between January 2011 and July *** criteria:An eligible systematic review should only include Rcts of chM and conduct at least one *** extraction and analysis:two reviewers independently conducted data extraction on general characteristics of systematic reviews,meta-analyses and included *** also assessed the risk of bias of Rcts using the cochrane risk of bias tool.A two-step approach was used for data *** ratio of odds ratios(ROR) and difference in standardized mean differences (dSMD) with 95%confidence interval (cI) were applied to present the difference in effect estimates for binary and continuous outcomes,***:Ninety-one systematic reviews,comprising 1338 Rcts were *** binary outcomes,Rcts incorporated with syndrome differentiation (ROR:1.23;95%cI:[1.07,1.39]),adopting chinese medicine formula (ROR:1.19;95%cI:[1.03,1.34]),with low risk of bias on incomplete outcome data (ROR:1.29;95%cI:[1.06,1.52]) and selective outcome reporting (ROR:1.12;95%cI:[1.01,1.24]),as well as a trial size≥100 (ROR:1.23;95%cI:[1.04,1.42]) preferred to show larger effect *** for continuous outcomes,Rcts with chinese medicine diagnostic criteria (dSMD:0.23;95%cI:[0.06,0.41]),judged as high/unclear risk of bias on allocation concealment (dSMD:-0.70;95%cI:[-0.99,-0.42]),with low risk of bias on incomplete outcome data (dSMD:0.30

Empirical model for fusion cross sections of ca-induced reactions

A new empirical formula for the astrophysical S-factor has been suggested as a function of the coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier *** 22 fusion reactions with ^(40,48)ca as projectiles were considered for different targets,leading to compound nuclei with atomic and mass numbers varying between 40≤Z≤≤Z≤112 and 88≤A≤27888≤A≤278,*** fusion cross-sections have been estimated using the geometric factor,the Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and the empirical formula for the *** study's findings showed better agreement with those of available experiments when compared to Wong's *** present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value than Wong's formula when used to correlate the experimental data of ca.c.um-induced fusion ***'s formula provides a good approximation of fusion cross-sections when the center of mass energy is below the fusion barrier when compared to above the fusion barrier.

Assessment of four different dietary amino acid profiles recommended for ISA Brown layer hens: A validation study

the current feeding study was designed to validate the two dietary essential amino acid profiles(EAAP)established based on linear broken-line(LBL) and quadratic broken-line(QBL) models, in a previous study, against Evonik(AMINOhen) and breeder recommendations for ISA Brown layers for peak production(PP, 20 to 44 weeks of age), and post peak production(post PP, 44 to 75 weeks of age). the EAAP based on LBL models on average had 19.5% and 26.0% lower digestible AA(Lys, Met + cys, thr, trp, Ile and Val), than the EAAP based on QBL models for PP and post PP, respectively. the EAAP based on AMINOhen and breeder recommendation had lower digestible AA than QBL, and higher EAAP than LBL models for both production phases. At 20 weeks of age, 224 ISA Brown layer hens were weighed and randomly allocated to individual battery cages. Each of the four diets was replicated 8 times with 7 birds per replicate. Egg production was recorded daily, and egg weights were measured at the end of each week. Feed consumption was measured at the end of each period. the egg production rate was not significantly affected by the diets and remained at around 98.0%(PP) and 95.0%(post PP)(P > 0.05). Birds fed diets based on LBL recommendation consistently laid smaller eggs, resulting in a lower egg mass(59.8 vs. 62.0 g egg/hen per day during PP, and 60.3 vs. 63.0 g egg/hen per day during post PP; P ts had no significant effect on feed intake and body weight(P > 0.05). the highest feed conversion ratio(FcR) during PP(P = 0.067) and post PP(P corded for the birds offered diets based on LBL recommendation. In conclusion, all four EAAP tested in this study support an above average egg production rate. however, the EAAP based on LBL models may potentially decrease the input feed cost per kilogram of eggs but are not set to optimise FcR and maximise egg mass.

1 INtRODUctION,this is the third Editorial/commentary that one of us(***)has written relating to boron neutron capture therapy(BNct)[1,2].For those readers who are unfamiliar with BNct we would refer them to several recent comprehensive reviews[3–5].the second Editorial ended on a hopeful note that with the introduction of a.c.leratorbased neutron sources(ABNSs),BNct would enter into the mainstream of radiation therapy[2].
