Paleomapping:Creating testable visual hypotheses of ancient worlds

The story of the Earth's changing landscapes is often told through paleogeographic maps. These images are some of the most accessible and widely used illustrations in the Earth sciences. However, no formal procedure for the creation of photorealistic paleomaps(i.e., paleosatellite images) exists. Using an example from the Late Jurassic of the Rocky mountain region, we present a method for making paleoenvironmental and paleosatellite maps that is scalable, reproducible, testable, and incorporates peer review. The process includes a literature review followed by data-visualization, paleoenvironmental interpretation, peer-review,iterative revisions, and the creation of a false contour map and color gradient used to render a paleosatellite image. Paleosatellite images are photorealistic versions of paleoenvironmental maps that incorporate global climatic and tectonic information as well as principles of actualism; they can be made through comparison to analogous modern landscapes. An important component of this process is that the data maps that ground this paleomapping process allow evaluation of where paleoenvironmental interpretations are wellsupported by outcrop and subsurface data, and where such visualization is highly interpretive-often because of lack of available rocks or studies in a given area. As such, our paleoenvironmental maps and paleosatellite images are testable pictorial hypotheses. By outlining a procedure that produces referenced,data-rich, and visually realistic maps, we hope to demystify the paleoenvironmental map-making process and improve accessibility of paleomaps for the broader geoscience community. Where resources and complementary data are available, such maps also have potential for georeferencing and integration with larger continent-scale paleogeographic maps.

河南鹤壁某高速公路项目地质情况极复杂，煤矿采空区为该项目最复杂的不良地质，控制着该项目的设计方案、工程规模及造价。经调查研究，路线跨越煤矿采空区总长4 513 m,具有隐蔽、复杂、年代久远、多样、多层、多次开采的特点。该项目详勘在充分利用初勘成果的基础上，研究采用了综合勘察方法：首先，采用煤矿区资料收集、遥感解译、地表网格式调查、村民及矿企的访问取证等方法进行收集与调查；随后，对各采空区进行了物探、钻探验证(老窑井口架空钻探、孔内测试和取样试验)、稳定性评价等实物勘察，实物勘察重点为老采空区和小窑采空区。勘察成果经多次采空区专项评审，认为勘察成果丰富、资料齐全、结论可靠，采空区稳定性评价结论基本正确，处治建议基本可行。施工阶段采空区处治施工时，注浆孔揭示的采空区深度、范围与勘察结论基本吻合，获得施工单位、业主单位人员的一致好评。提出的采空区勘察总体思路“以专项调查和资料收集为主，辅以物探普查、钻探验证、孔内测试”,可以为类似项目勘察工作的开展起到借鉴作用，具有一定的实际工程意义。

Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D) braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper, a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established. Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed. By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications.

Nothofagus alessandrii forests in the mediterranean region of Chile face significant threats from deforestation, fragmentation, wildfires, and climate change. This study investigated the temporal and spatial dynamics of N. alessandrii populations and their implications for habitat fragmentation and connectivity. Using remote sensing data and geographic information system analysis, we assessed deforestation patterns, fragmentation metrics, and connectivity indices for different scenarios between 2009 and 2022. A reduction in the N. alessandrii forest area, extensive fragmentation, and decreased connectivity were observed over time, with wildfires exacerbating these trends. Reforestation simulations showed the potential of targeted restoration efforts to improve connectivity, especially when focusing on proximate patches. However, careful consideration of seed dispersal distances and wildfire risk is essential for effective reforestation planning. Overall, our findings underscore the urgent need for conservation interventions to preserve N. alessandrii forests and their biodiversity in Chile's coastal mountain ecosystems. A proactive and collaborative approach is essential to ensure the survival of these forests for future generations.

This work addresses challenges and opportunities in the evaluation of solar power plant impacts,with a particular focus on thermal effects of solar plants on the environment and ***-scale solar power plants are often sited in arid or desert habitats,which tend to include fauna and flora that are highly sensitive to changes in temperature and *** understanding of both shortwave(solar)and longwave(terrestrial)radiation processes in solar power plants is complete enough to render the modeling of radiation fluxes with high confidence for most *** contrast to radiation,the convective environment in large-scale solar power plants is much more difficult to *** direction,wind speed,turbulence intensity,dust concentration,ground condition,panel configuration density,orientation and distribution throughout the solar field,all affect the local environment,the balance between radiation and convection,and in turn,the performance and thermal impact of solar power *** the temperatures of the two sides of photovoltaic(PV)panels depend on detailed convection-radiation balances,the uncertainty associated with convection affects the heat and mass transfer balances as *** balances are critically important in estimating the thermal impact of large-scale solar farms on local *** we discuss outstanding issues related with these transfer processes for utility-scale solar generation and highlight potential pathways to gain useful knowledge about the convective environment directly from solar farms under operating conditions.

格上基于容错学习（LWE）的多密钥全同态加密方案在密钥生成阶段通常直接选取随机矩阵和秘密向量，攻击者容易获得足够多低范数秘密向量或低范数的误差向量，从而获得秘密向量，使得公钥加密的安全性受到削弱。规避LWE（ELWE）是非标准LWE的一种变体，指即使敌手额外获得了短高斯前像，加密方案仍可以避免归零攻击。首先基于ELWE构造了一个选择明文安全的单密钥全同态加密方案；其次利用线性组合算法提出了一种密文扩展算法，将单密钥方案扩展为多密钥加密方案。方案的扩展扩大了应用空间，且构造的多密钥方案与其他方案的对比表明，所提方案将解密噪声从8（8m4+m）mkδ降低为2（2m+1）mkδ，具有更强的实用性。

The rapid evolution of systemic therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),one of the most common types of liver cancer,has attracted significant attention especially to hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy(HAIC)as a highly promising treatment *** method,which delivers chemotherapy directly into the liver's arterial supply,is designed to maximize the concentration of anti-cancer drugs at the tumor site while minimizing systemic side *** the potential and the encouraging results observed in various studies,HAIC has not yet achieved widespread acceptance and *** is a widely used systemic therapy that targets multiple pathways involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis,while transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)is a locoregional therapy that combines arterial embolization with *** treatments have been the mainstay of HCC management,yet they have limitations that HAIC may potentially *** article specifically comments on the network meta-analysis that examined the current research status of HAIC,highlighting its effectiveness and safety profile in comparison to established standard treatments such as Sorafenib and *** an extensive review of existing studies,the authors conclude that patients receiving HAIC often experience better survival rates and longer periods without disease progression compared to those receiving Sorafenib or TACE.
