Medical bone implant magnesium(Mg)alloys are subjected to both corrosive environments and complex loads in the human *** increa.ing number of hyperglycemic and diabetic pa.ients in recent years has brought new challenges to the fa.igue performance of Mg ***,it is significant to study the corrosion fa.igue(CF)beha.ior of medical Mg alloys in glucose-containing simulated body fluids for their clinical ***,the corrosion and fa.igue properties of extruded Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy in Hank’s balanced salt solution(HBSS)containing different concentra.ions(1 g/L and 3 g/L)of glucose were *** average grain size of the alloy is about 5μm,which provides excellent overall mecha.ical *** conditional fa.igue strength of the alloy was 127 MPa.in air and 88 MPa and 70 MPa.in HBSS containing 1 g/L glucose and 3 g/L glucose,*** crack initia.ion points for alloys in air are oxide inclusions and in solution are corrosion *** corrosion rate of the alloy is high at the beginning,and decreases as the surface corrosion product layer thickens with the increase of immersion *** corrosion products of the alloy are mainly Mg(OH)_(2),MgO and a small amount of Ca-P *** electrochemical results indicated that the corrosion rate of the alloys gradually decreased with increa.ing immersion time,but the corrosion tendency of the alloy was greater in HBSS containing 3 g/L *** the one hand,glucose accelerates the corrosion process by adsorbing large amounts of aggressive Cl^(-)*** the other hand,glucose will be oxidized to form gluconic a.id,and then reacts with Mg(OH)_(2) and MgO to form Mg gluconate,which destroys the corrosion product film and leads to the aggrava.ion of corrosion and the accumula.ion of fa.igue damage.

We report on the magnetohydrodyna.ic impact on the a.isymmetric flow of Al_(2)O_(3)/Cu nanoparticles suspended in H_(2)O past a stretched/shrinked *** the use of partial differential equa.ions and the corresponding thermophysical characteristics of nanoparticles,the physical flow process is *** resultant nonlinear system of partial differential equa.ions is converted into a system of ordinary differential equa.ions using the suitable simila.ity *** transformed differential equa.ions are solved *** of the magnetic parameter,solid volume fraction and stretching/shrinking parameter on momentum and temperature distribution have been analyzed and interpreted *** skin friction and Nusselt number were also *** addition,existence of dual solution was deduced for the shrinking sheet and unique solution for the stretching ***,Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O nanofluid flow has better thermal conductivity on compa.ing with Cu/H_(2)O ***,it was found that the first solutions of the stream are stable and physically rea.izable,whereas those of the second ones are unstable.

This work explores experimentally the effects of DC electrical currents on lubricant film thickness altera.ion in lubricated sliding steel contacts in the boundary and mixed regime as measured by *** experiments were performed in a two-electrode cell-based pin-on-disk tester instrumented with ultrasonic *** and electrified tribological tests were conducted on steel flat-on-flat contacts under va.ious speeds and loads using both a mineral base oil and a gear *** thickness,coefficient of friction(CoF),and electrical contact resistance(ECR)were measured during short experiments(30 s)in unelectrified and electrified(1.5 and 3 A)*** results suggest that film thickness,CoF,and all ECR are altered by passing DC currents through the *** particular,film thickness increased and decreased,respectively,by applying electricity at the different speeds and loads *** altera.ions were majorly ascribed to oil viscosity decrease by local heat and surface oxida.ion caused by electrical discharge and break down at the interface.

Dependence of thermodyna.ic quantities at freeze-out on pseudora.idity and collision energy in p-p collisions at LHC energies

The transverse momentum distributions of charged hadrons produced in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies(√s)of 0.9 TeV and 2.36 TeV,as measured by the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC),have been analyzed within va.ious pseudora.idity classes utilizing the thermodyna.ically consistent Tsallis *** fitting procedure resulted in the key parameters,namely,effective temperature(T),non-extensivity parameter(q),and kinetic freezeout volume(V).Additionally,the mean transverse momentum()and initial temperature(T_(i))of the particle source are determined through the fit function and string percola.ion method,*** alterna.ive method is employed to calculate the kinetic freezeout temperature(T_(0))and transverse flow velocity(β_(T))from ***,thermodyna.ic quantities at the freezeout,including energy density(ε),particle density(n),entropy density(s),pressure(P),and squared speed of sound(C_(s)^(2)),are computed using the extracted T and *** is also observed that,with a decrease in pseudora.idity,all thermodyna.ic quantities except V and q *** trend is attributed to greater energy transfer along the mid pseudora.idity.q increases towards higher values of pseudora.idity,indica.ing that particles close to the beam a.is are far from ***,V remains nearly independent of *** excita.ion function of these parameters(q)shows a direct(inverse)correla.ion with collision *** ε,n,s,and P show a strong dependence on collision energies at low *** verifica.ion of the thermodyna.ic inequa.ity ε≥3P suggests the forma.ion of a highly dense droplet-like Quark-Gluon Plasma(QGP).Additionally,the inequa.ity T_(i)>T>T_(0)is explicitly confirmed,a.igning with the evolution of the produced fireball.

Ma.ine heatwaves(MHWs)caused by anthropogenic climate change are becoming a key driver of change at the ecosystem *** conditions experienced by ma.ine orga.isms across their distribution,particularly towards the equator,are likely to approach their physiological limits,resulting in extensive morta.ity and subsequent changes at the popula.ion *** at the margins of their species’distribution are thought to be more sensitive to climate-induced environmental pressures than central popula.ions,but our understanding of va.ia.ility in fitness-related physiological traits in trailing versus lea.ing-edge popula.ions is *** a laboratory simula.ion study,we tested whether two lea.ing(iceland)and two trailing(Spain)peripheral popula.ions of the intertidal macroalga Corallina officina.is display different levels of ma.imum potential quantum efficiency(Fv/Fm)resilience to current and future winter MHWs *** study revealed that ongoing and future local winter MHWs will not nega.ively affect lea.ing-edge popula.ions of ***,which exhibited stable photosynthetic efficiency throughout the *** edge popula.ions showed a positive though non-significant trend in photosynthetic efficiency throughout winter MHWs *** and equatorward popula.ions did not produce significantly different results,with winter MHWs ha.ing no nega.ive affect on Fv/Fm of either ***,we found no long-term regional or popula.ion-level influence of a winter MHWs on this species’photosynthetic ***,we found no sta.istically significant difference in thermal stress responses between lea.ing and trailing ***,*** showed a trend towards higher stress responses in southern than northern *** responses rest on a va.iety of local popula.ion traits,they are difficult to predict based solely on thermal pressures.

Smarter in the city?Lizards from urban and semi-natural ha.itats do not differ in a cognitive task in two syntopic species

Urba.iza.ion occurs at a global scale,imposing drama.ic and abrupt environmental changes that lead to biodiversity ***,some a.imal species can handle these changes,and thrive in such artifcial *** possible explana.ion is that urban individuals are equipped with better cognitive a.ilities,but most studies have focused on birds and mammals and yielded va.ied *** have received much less attention,despite some lizard species being common city *** ita.ian wall lizard,Podarcis siculus,and the common wall lizard,Podarcis mura.is,are two successful lizards in anthropogenic ha.itats that thrive in urban *** test for differences in a cognitive skill between urban and semi-natural environments,we investigated inhibitory control through a detour task in syntopic popula.ions of the two species,across 249 lizards that were tested in partially artifcial feld *** inhibitory control is considered essential for higher degrees of cognitive fexibility and other higher-level cognitive *** this task,we confronted lizards with a transparent barrier,separa.ing them from a desired shelter area that they could only reach by controlling their impulse to go straight and instead detour the *** found no differences between lizards in urban and semi-natural environments,nor between species,but females overall performed better than ***,48%of the lizards in our study did not perform a correct trial in any of the 5 trials,hinting at the diffculty of the task for these *** study is among the frst to address lizard cognition,through their inhibitory control,as a potential explana.ion for success in cities and highlights one should be careful with assuming that urban a.imals generally have enhanced cognitive performance,as it might be taxa,task,or condition dependent.

Combustion characteristics of low-qua.ity lignite for different bed material sphericities in a circula.ing fluidized bed boiler:A numerical study

This study delves into the combustion beha.ior of va.ious lignite types within a circula.ing fluidized bed boiler(CFBB),with a primary focus on the impact of different bed material sphericity ra.ios(0.5,0.7,and 0.9).Utilizing bed material with a sphericity ra.io of 0.9 sourced from theÇan power plant and verified through experimenta.ion,the research reveals several key ***,furnace temperatures tended to rise with higher sphericity ra.ios,albeit with va.ia.ions between lignite types,particularly highlighting the complexity of this rela.ionship in the case of GLi-Tunçbilek *** levels in the combustion chamber remained consistent across different sphericity ra.ios,indica.ing minimal influence on pressure *** combustion efficiency,especially at the bottom of the boiler,was observed at lower sphericity levels(0.5 and 0.7)forÇan lignite,as reflected in CO_(2) mole *** NO_(x) emissions generally decreased with lower sphericity,the sensitivity to sphericity va.ied by lignite type,with ilgın lignite showca.ing low NO_(x) but high SO_(2) emissions,underscoring the intricate interplay between lignite properties,sphericity,and ***,this study advances our understanding of CFBB combustion dyna.ics,offering insights valuable for optimizing performance and emissions control,particularly in lignite-based power.

inva.iant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are part of the fa.ily of unconventional T cells,and they recognize glycolipid antigens presented on the MHC class i like molecule CD1^([1]).in humans there are five CD1 molecules named CD1a to CD1e,whereas mice use only CD1d for lipid ***,iNKT cells can elicit both cytotoxicity similarly to conventional CD8 T cells and secrete cytokines that influence the adaptive immune response including providing direct T cell help to B cells^([2]).in the context of tumors,they can use both release of granzyme B and use Fas-mediated mecha.isms for killing of tumor *** iNKT cells use a restricted TCR repertoire and CD1 molecules are non-heterogenous the risk of graft vs host disease is limited and thus these T cells have been an attractive option for off the shelf immunotherapy to treat cancer^([3]).
