EEG epileptic seizure detection and classification based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform and machine learning algorithms

The visual analysis of common neurological disorders such as epileptic seizures in electroencephalography(EEG) is an oversensitive operation and prone to errors,which has motivated the researchers to develop effective automated seizure detection *** paper proposes a robust automatic seizure detection method that can establish a veritable diagnosis of these *** proposed method consists of three steps:(i) remove artifact from EEG data using Savitzky-Golay filter and multi-scale principal component analysis(MSPCA),(ii) extract features from EEG signals using signal decomposition representations based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD),discrete wavelet transform(DWT),and dual-tree complex wavelet transform(DTCWT) allowing to overcome the non-linearity and non-stationary of EEG signals,and(iii) allocate the feature vector to the relevant class(i.e.,seizure class "ictal" or free seizure class "interictal") using machine learning techniques such as support vector machine(SVM),k-nearest neighbor(k-NN),and linear discriminant analysis(LDA).The experimental results were based on two EEG datasets generated from the CHB-MIT database with and without overlapping *** results obtained have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method that allows achieving a higher classification accuracy rate up to 100% and also outperforms similar state-of-the-art methods.

This work is experimental investigation on the impact of rectangular baffles on the thermo-hydraulic performance of a solar thermal *** study was conducted under moderate weather conditions and six cases were studied,including 2M135,6M135,10M135,14M135,18M135,and a smooth plate *** results showed that the number and placement of baffles plays a crucial role in improving heat transfer and the best cases in terms of thermal performance were cases V and IV,with maximum values of h=15.84 W/m2.k,and h=17.46 W/*** study also found that the heat transfer was greatest at the beginning of the channel and decreased towards the *** highest thermal efficiency was recorded in case 18M135 with a maximum value ofȠ=0.73.

Wireless Mobile Evolution to 4G Network

In this paper, we give an overview of the evolution of wireless mobiles starting from the first generation which is the analogue system started in 1980’s, and passing through the 2G technologies which are all digital networks and GSM is the most popular network. 2.5G networks will introduce the packet notion on the existing 2G networks and 3G will bring the quality of service as new perspective for the 3G partnership projet 3GPP and 3GPP2. However, high demand on data speed has pushed the operators to looking for 3.5G system. 3.99G networks are defined as long-term evolution for the existing 3G network and it will be based on OFDM and MIMO technologies. 4G networks was not yet defined, but requirement is to support heterogeneous networks at 100 Mbps mobility data speed.

Distributed Frequency Assignment Using Hierarchical Cooperative Multi-Agent System

Recent demand for wireless communication continues to grow rapidly as a result of the increasing number of users, the emergence of new user requirements, and the trend to new access technologies. At the same time, the electromagnetic spectrum or frequencies allocated for this purpose are still limited. This makes solving the frequency assignment problem more and more critical. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using self-organizing multi-agent systems to solve distributed dynamic channel-assignment;it concerns distribution among agents which task is to assign personal station to frequencies with respect to well known constraints. Agents only know their variables and the constraints affecting them, and have to negotiate to find a collective solution. The approach is based on a macro-level management taking the form of a hierarchical group of distributed agents in the network and handling all RANs (Regional Radio Access Network) in a localized region regardless of the operating band. The approach defines cooperative self-organization as the process leading the collective to the solution: agents can change the organization by their own decision to improve the state of the system. Our approach has been tested on PHEADEPHIA benchmarks of frequency assignment Problem. The results obtained are equivalent to those of current existing methods with the benefits that our approach shows more efficiency in terms of flexibility and autonomy.

Solutions Comparison towards Voice Services Implementation for Operators Starting LTE Deployment

The continuity of voice services, for many operators planning to start their LTE network, is one of the key requirements to cover back the cost of this expensive network. In this paper, we discuss and compare the possible solutions to add voice services on an LTE network dedicated mainly for high-speed data transfer. By comparing advantages and inconvenient of the existing approaches, we conclude that the selection of the One Voice approach is obvious, especially for operators starting LTE deployments, the One Voice approach has the support of all the famous operators and vendors. Selecting the One Voice approach as a first alternative was evident, but the choice of CSFB as a mid-term solution or backup solution from many operators was not clear. As a key lesson can be learned from the existing technologies, CDMA and GSM, where the type of handset was one of the major factors of the GSM success;we prove in this paper that VOLGA approach is better than CSFB for many reasons: The VOLGA approach uses less complex and less expensive handset while it gives more comfortable user experience compared to CSFB approach, so operators should take into consideration these two points before selecting the second alternative.

Parvovirus B19 and Pregnant Women: A Bibliographic Review

Primary infection with parvovirus B19 is an uncommon but serious and treatable cause of chronic anemia in immuno compromised hosts. Widely distributed, it is responsible for a wide range of clinical manifestations, the characteristics and outcome of which depend on the interaction between the viral properties and the physiological and immune status of the infected individuals. Infection during pregnancy can result in fetal anemia, abortion, and hydrops. Pregnancy does not appear to affect the course of the infection, but the infection may affect the pregnancy. The diagnosis of B19V can be made by serological and molecular investigation of the mother, fetus and newborn. In these conditions, it seemed necessary for us to answer in this article the various questions raised by the occurrence of a contagion and/or an infection with Parvovirus B19 during pregnancy. Our objective was to determine at first the nature and the main characteristics of Parvovirus B19 as well as its propagation during the pregnancy and to show its risk for the pregnant woman and her fetus. The importance of the subject is proven by the data on the spread and incidence of the virus. Worldwide, the focus on pregnancy is due to the additional potentially fatal effects on the fetus. This document covers the important aspects of a medical investigation: causes, symptoms, tests and diagnosis.

Ba0.85Ca0.15Zr0.10Ti0.90O3(BCZT)lead-free ceramics demonstrated excellent dielectric,ferroelectric,and piezoelectric properties at the morphotropic phase boundary(MPB).So far,to study the effect of morphological changes on dielectric and ferroelectric properties in lead-free BCZT ceramics,researchers have mostly focused on the influence of spherical grain shape *** this study,BCZT ceramics with rod-like grains and aspect ratio of about 10 were synthesized by surfactant-assisted solvothermal route.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and selected area electron diffraction(SAED)performed at room temperature confirm the crystallization of pure perovskite with tetragonal *** electron microscopy(SEM)image showed that BCZT ceramics have kept the 1D rod-like grains with an average aspect ratio of about ***-like BCZT ceramics exhibit enhanced dielectric ferroelectric(εr=11,906,tanδ=0.014,Pr=6.01μC/cm^2,and Ec=2.46 kV/cm),and electrocaloric properties(ΔT=0.492 K andz=0.289(K×mm)/kV at 17 kV/cm)with respect to spherical BCZT ***,rod-like BCZT lead-free ceramics have good potential to be used in solid-state refrigeration technology.

Privacy Preserving Scheme for Location-Based Services

Homomorphic encryption schemes make it possible to perform arithmetic operations, like additions and multiplications, over encrypted values. This capability provides enhanced protection for data and offers new research directions, including blind data processing. Using homomorphic encryption schemes, a Location-Based Service (LBS) can process encrypted inputs to retrieve encrypted location-related information. The retrieved encrypted data can only be decrypted by the user who requested the data. The technology still faces two main challenges: the encountered processing time and the upper limit imposed on the allowed number of operations. However, the protection of users’ privacy achieved through this technology makes it attractive for more research and enhancing. In this paper we use homomorphic encryption schemes to build a fully secure system that allows users to benefit from location-based services while preserving the confidentiality and integrity of their data. Our novel system consists of search circuits that allow an executor (i.e. LBS server) to receive encrypted inputs/requests and then perform a blind search to retrieve encrypted records that match the selection criterion. A querier can send the user’s position and the service type he/she is looking for, in encrypted form, to a server and then the server would respond to the request without any knowledge of the contents of the request and the retrieved records. We further propose a prototype that improves the practicality of our system.

Mycoplasma capricolum ***(Mcc)is an important etiological agent of contagious agalactia(CA).CA affects small ruminants and is characterized by inducing mastitis,arthritis,kerato-conjunctivitis and respiratory *** aim of this study was to isolate and characterize Mcc from Moroccan goats with contagious agalactia.A total of 300 Alpine goats were *** analysis,molecular identification,and isolation of Mcc were realized from suspected *** experimental study was conducted for isolated Mcc to determine their ***,clinical observation showed that respiratory symptoms were predominant in young animals,and other symptoms,such as mastitis,keratoconjunctivitis and lameness,were more frequently detected in adult *** the 80 tested blood samples,28 sera were seropositive for Mcc *** was identified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)in milk,lung tissue and synovial liquid *** isolation of Mcc was successful through bacterial culture from lung *** gene sequence of this strain revealed 98.1%similarity with the reference strain(ATCC 27343),with 11 missense *** infection resulted in severe and generalized CA disease in sheep and goats,confirming the high pathogenicity of the Moroccan Mcc isolate.
