Objective:The objective of the study was to evaluate mothers/care givers perception of malaria,their treatment practices and the effects on the outcome of ***:Four hundred and sixty children were enrolled and their mothers/care givers *** children were screened for malaria parasitaemia and there after,blood specimens were obtained for biochemical and haematological evaluation from those children who met the criteria and tested positive to *** *** cell volume,electrolytes,urea, creatinine,plasma glucose,and serum bilirubin were ***:A total of 460 children were studied, 233(50.7%) males and 227(49.3%) *** malaria cases were 112(24.3%) and severe malaria 348(75.7%).Those who presented early 106(23.0%) and those who presented late 354(77.0%).Perception and definition of malaria as well as the treatment seeking behaviors vary significantly with the level of education of the mothers and care *** without formal education 68(51.9%) wrongly perceived that the etiology of malaria can only be diagnosed by native doctors compared to those with primary six education 61 (26.5%) and junior secondary education 10(10.1%).Only 43(9.3%) gave the correct dose of chloroquine syrup to their sick children,while 32(7.0%) gave at sub optimal ***:Wrong perception of malaria especially the complicated malaria and wrong treatment practices are major contributory factors to the high mortality and morbidity of malaria in *** is therefore a need for health education to correct the wrong ideas about the cause and treatment practices of malaria as part of malaria control programme.

In past decades, a lot of studies have been carried out on complex networks and heat conduction in regular lattices. However, very little attention has been paid to the heat conduction in complex networks. In this work, we study(both thermal and electric) energy transport in physical networks rewired from 2D regular lattices. It is found that the network can be transferred from a good conductor to a poor conductor,depending on the rewired network structure and coupling scheme. Two interesting phenomena were discovered:(i) the thermal-siphon effect—namely the heat flux can go from a low-temperature node to a higher-temperature node and(ii) there exits an optimal network structure that displays small thermal conductance and large electrical conductance. These discoveries reveal that network-structured materials have great potential in applications in thermal-energy management and thermal-electric-energy conversion.

Nowadays,force sensors play an important role in industrial production,electronic information,medical health,and many other ***-dimensional material-based filed effect transistor(2D-FET)sensors are competitive with nano-level size,lower power consumption,and accurate ***,few of them has the capability of impulse detection which is a path function,expressing the cumulative effect of the force on the particle over a period of *** we fabricated the flexible polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)gate dielectric MoS_(2)-FET for force and impulse sensor *** systematically investigated the responses of the sensor to constant force and varying forces,and achieved the conversion factors of the drain current signals(I_(ds))to the detected impulse(I).The applied force was detected and recorded by I_(ds)with a low power consumption of~30 *** sensitivity of the device can reach~8000%and the 4×1 sensor array is able to detect and locate the normal force applied on ***,there was almost no performance loss for the device as left in the air for two months.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors play an important role in the treatment of solid tumors, but the currently used immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-l1), and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTlA-4) show limited clinical efficacy in many breast cancers. B7H3 has been widely reported as an immunosuppressive molecule, but its immunological function in breast cancer patients remains unclear.Methods:We analyzed the expression of B7H3 in breast cancer samples using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas Program (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. MicroRNAs were selected using the TarBase, miRTarBase, and miRBase databases. The regulatory role of the microRNA hsa-miR-214-3p on B7H3 was investigated through dual-luciferase reporter assays, which identified the specific action sites of interaction. The expression levels of B7H3 and hsa-miR-214-3p in human breast cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues were quantified using Western blotting and quantitative PCR (qPCR). experiments were performed to observe the effects of modulating the expression of B7H3 or hsa-miR-214-3p on breast cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis. Additionally, the regulatory impact of hsa-miR-214-3p on B7H3 was examined. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ElISA) and flow cytometry were employed to assess the effects of co-cul.ured breast cancer cells and normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) on immune cells and associated cytokines.Results:In breast cancer tissues, the expression level of B7H3 is inversely correlated with that of hsa-miR-214-3p, as well as with the regulatory effects on breast cancercell behavior. Hsa-miR-214-3p was found to inhibit breast cancer cell growth by downregulating B7H3. The problem of decreasing stability margins in l1 adaptive control systems is discussed and an out-of-loop l1 adaptive control scheme based on lyapunov’s stability theorem is *** scheme enhances the effectiveness of the adaptation,which ensures that the system has suffi-cient stability margins to achieve the desired performance under parametric uncertainty,additional delays,and actuator *** stability of the developed control system is demonstrated through a series of *** with an existing control scheme,the constant adjustment of the sta-bility margins by the proposed adaptive scheme allows their range to be extended by a factor of 4–5,bringing the stability margin close to that of variable gain PD control with adaptively scheduled *** engineered practicability of adaptive technology is verified.A series of flight tests verify the practicability of the designed adaptive *** results of these tests demonstrate the enhanced performance of the proposed control scheme with nonlinear parameter estimations under insufficient stability margins and validate its robustness in the event of actuator failures.

Seed aging decreases the quality and vigor of crop seeds,thereby causing substantial agricul.ural and economic losses in *** identify genetic differences in seed aging between homozygotes and heterozygotes in maize,the seeds of a set of recombinant inbred lines(RIls) and an immortalized F_2(IF_2) population were subjected to artificial aging treatments for 0,2,3,and 4 days under 45℃ and 85%relative humidity and seed vigor was then evaluated in a field *** vigor of all entries tested decreased sharply with longer aging treatment and seed vigor decreased more slowly in heterozygotes than in ***-nine QTl were detected for four measured seed vigor traits in the RIl(28QTl) and IF_2(21 QTl) *** one QTl,qGP5,was detected in both populations,indicating that the genes involved in anti-aging mechanisms differed between inbred lines and *** QTl were identified to be responsible for multiple seed vigor traits simultaneously in the RIl and IF_2 populations under artificial aging *** QTl may include major genes for seed vigor or seed *** qVI4 b and qGE3 a detected in the RIl population coincided with genes ZmlOX1 and ZmPlD1 in the same respective chromosomal *** QTl would be useful for screening for anti-aging genes in maize breeding.

Adsorption by nanoporous media is critically involved in many fundamental geological and geochemical processes including chemical weathering,element migration and enrichment,environmental pol.ution,***,the adsorption behavior of metal ions on nanoporous materials has not been systematically *** this study,MCM-41 material with a monodisperse pore size(4.4 nm)and a large BET specific surface area(839 m^2/g)was hydrothermally prepared and used as a model silica adsorbent to study the adsorption characteristics of Cu^2+as a representative metal *** Cu^2+adsorption capacity was found to increase with increasing suspension pH in the range from 3 to 5 and to decrease in the presence of *** 25℃,pH=5,and a solid-to-liquid ratio of 5 g/l,the adsorption capacity was determined to be 0.29 mg/g,which can be converted to a dimensionless partition coefficient of 45,indicating a strong enriching effect of nanoporous *** adsorption isotherm and kinetic data were fitted to several commonly used thermodynamic,kinetic,and diffusion *** adsorption mechanism was also studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and synchrotron-based X-ray absorption *** results suggest that Cu2+ion adsorption is an entropy-driven endothermal process,possibly involving both outer-sphere and inner-sphere complexes.
