In a measurement system, new representation methods are necessary to maintain the uncertainty and to supply more powerful ability for reasoning and transformation between numerical system and symbolic system. A grey measurement system is discussed from the point of view of intelligent sensors and incomplete information processing compared with a numerical and symbolized measurement system. The methods of grey representation and information processing are proposed for data collection and reasoning. As a case study, multi-ultrasonic sensor systems are demonstrated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Two complex properties, varying time-delay and block-oriented nonlinearity, are very common in chemical engineering processes and not easy to be controlled by routine control methods. Aimed at these two complex properties, a novel adaptive control algorithm the basis of nonlinear OFS （orthonormal functional series） model is proposed. First, the hybrid model which combines OFS and Volterra series is introduced. Then, a stable state feedback strategy is used to construct a nonlinear adaptive control algorithm that can guarantee the closed-loop stability and can track the set point curve without steady-state errors. Finally, control simulations and experiments on a nonlinear process with varying time-delay are presented. A number of experimental results validate the efficiency and superiority of this algorithm.

This paper introduces an indoor global localization method by extending and matching features. In the proposed method, the environment is partitioned into convex subdivisions. Local extended maps of the subdivisions are then built by exten- ding features to constitute the local extended map set. While the robot is moving in the environment, the local extended map of the current local environment is established and then matched with the local extended map set. Therefore, global localization in an indoor environment can be achieved by integrating the position and ori- entation matching rates. Both theoretical analysis and comparison experimental result are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method for global localization.

Looking upon every encoding state of quantum information systems as a quantum information pattern, A kind of pattern-distance between different patterns as a measurement of comparability of quantum information patterns is defined, and two kinds of recognition algorithms based on pattern-distance for quantum information are proposed. They can respectively recognize quantum information with known objective pattern and unknown objective pattern. In the two algorithms, the phases and occurrence probabilities of different eigenpattems of quantum information are sufficiently considered. Two examples demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the two recognition methods. These algorithms point out a new and important path for applications of quantum information and pattern recognition.

For finite-dimensional quantum systems,we propose a quantum control scheme based on a multi-step unitary evolution and quantum projective *** objective is to design a control law to steer the system to a target eigenstate of the measurement operator in the least number of *** each control step,unitary evolution and quantum projective measurement are performed in turn until the system reaches the target *** control process can be modeled as a finite-state Markov chain with an absorbing *** prove that the controlled system will converge to the target eigenstate with probability one after a finite number of control steps and find a minimal-step-number condition that would steer the system to the target eigenstate in the least number of steps.
