Succession of bacterial community during composting:dissimilarity between compost mixture and biochar additive

Previous research showed that biochar addition facilitated composting and elevated nutrient ***,few of these studies explored bacterial structure and abundance in the compost mixture and biochar ***,this study aims to distinguish bacterial communities in both compost and bamboo biochar(BB)*** indicated that the dynamics of nutrient contents in compost and BB samples were in a similar pattern,although there were lower levels of nutrients and metals(i.e.,Cu and Zn)in BB *** total number of operational taxonomic units(OTUs)in both compost and BB additives peaked on day 7 and then gradually reduced during *** was more abundance of bacteria in compost,whereas the diversity of bacteria was more in BB ***,the dominant bacteria in compost and BB samples were distinct at the different stages of *** Firmicutes steadily decreased in compost samples(from 34.78%to 7.65%),while it was the dominant phylum in BB additives during the whole composting ***,Ruminofilibacter,Pseudoxanthomonas,and Actinomadura were the most abundant genera in compost samples than Pseudoxanthomonas,Azoarcus,and Paenibacillus in BB additives at the final stage of *** from this study could provide a theoretical reference for the sound performance of biochar-added composting.

Leaf morphogenesis is strictly controlled not only by intrinsic genetic factors, such as transcriptional factors, but also by environmental cues, such as light, water and pathogens. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanism of how leaf morphogenesis is regulated by genetic programs and environmental cues is far from clear. Numerous series of events demonstrate that plant hormones, mostly small and simple molecules, play crucial roles in plant growth and development, and in responses of plants to environmental cues such as light. With more and more genetics and molecular evidence obtained from the model plant Arabidopsis, several fundamental aspects of leaf morphogenesis including the initiation of leaf primordia, the determination of leaf axes, the regulation of cell division and expansion in leaves have been gradually unveiled. Among these phytohormones, auxin is found to be essential in the regulation of leaf morphogenesis.

Amperometric Biosensor for Detection of Phenolic Compounds Based on Tyrosinase, N-AcetyI-L-cysteinecapped Gold Nanoparticles and Chitosan Nanocomposite

A novel biosensor was fabricated based on the immobilization of tyrosinase and N-acetyl-L-cysteine-capped gold nanoparticles onto the surface of the glassy carbon electrode via the film forming by chitosan. The NAC-AuNPs （N-acetyl-L-cysteine-capped gold nanoparticles） with the average size of 3.4 nm had much higher specific surface area and good biocompatibility, which were favorable for increasing the immobilization amount of enzyme, retaining the catalytic activity of enzyme and facilitating the fast electron transfer. The prepared biosensor exhibited suitable amperometric responses at -0.2 V for phenolic compounds vs. saturated calomel electrode. The parameters of influencing on the working electrode such as pH, temperature, working potential were investigated. Under optimum conditions, the biosensor was applied to detect catechol with a linear range of 1.0 ×10^-7 to 6.0 × 10^-5 mol·L^-1 , and the detection limit of 5.0×10^-8mol·L^-1 （S/N=3）. The stability and selectivity of the proposed biosensor were also evaluated.

Objective: The proposal of the present study was to investigate whether the TP53 rs1042522 polymorphism confers susceptibility to prostate cancer (PCa), by performing an updated meta-analysis. Methods: Eligible publications investigating the association between the TP53 rs1042522 polymorphism and PCa susceptibility were selected from PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science. We used STATA 12.0 software to conduct the analyses. Odds ratio (OR) with 95%confidence interval (CI) was calculated. Results: A total of 17 case-control studies were retrieved reporting a total of 2683 cases and 2981 controls. However, no sig-nificant association was uncovered between the TP53 rs1042522 polymorphism and PCa susceptibility in the overall population under the five genetic models. In the stratification analysis by source of control, an increased susceptibility to PCa was identified in the population-based (P-B) group (CG vs. GG:OR=1.48, 95%CI:1.24-1.77, P<0.01;CC/CG vs. GG:OR=1.32, 95%CI:1.12-1.57, P<0.01), whereas a decreased susceptibility was uncovered in the hospital-based (H-B) group (CG vs. GG:OR=0.67, 95%CI:0.46-0.96, P=0.03;CC/CG vs. GG:OR=0.67, 95%CI:0.46-0.99, P=0.04) under heterozygous and dominant model. Conclusion: This study did not find an association between the TP53 rs1042522 polymorphism and PCa susceptibility in the overall population and corresponding subgroup analyses except in the stratification analysis by source of control. The results suggest that the TP53 rs1042522 polymorphism is not a risk factor for PCa.

Objective：Extranodal extension in cervical lymph nodes is an important risk factor for the progression and prognosis of papillary thyroid *** purpose of this study was to identify the common and characteristic preoperative ultrasonography features that are associated with the pathologic extranodal extension of metastatic papillary thyroid ***：We retrospectively assessed and compared clinicopathologic and ultrasound features between 60 papillary thyroid cancer patients with extranodal extension and 120 control patients with papillary thyroid cancer without extranodal ***：With respect to the pathological N stage and clinicopathologic features,N1b stage papillary thyroid carcinomas were more frequently found in patients who were extranodal extension-positive,in comparison with those who were extranodal extension-negative（78.3%vs.63.3%,P=0.043）.Extranodal extension was detected most frequently in level VI cervical lymph nodes（48.7%）.In our univariate analysis of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma,cervical lymph nodes with extranodal extension showed higher incidences of node matting,microcalcification,cystic area,aspect ratio＆lt;2,and larger diameter than those without extranodal extension（all P〈0.05）.Our multivariate analysis demonstrated that node matting and cystic area were independent risk factors for the presence of extranodal extension[odds ratio（OR）：4.751,95%confidence interval（CI）：1.212~18.626,P=0.025;OR：2.707,95%CI：1.127~6.502,P=0.026].Conclusions：Common ultrasound features may indicate the presence of extranodal extension in patients with metastatic cervical lymph nodes of papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Using modified Soil Conservation Service curve number method to simulate the role of forest in flood control in the upper reach of the Tingjiang River in China

To improve flood control efficiency and increase urban resilience to flooding,the impacts of forest type change on flood control in the upper reach of the Tingjiang River(URTR) were evaluated by a modified model based on the Soil Conservation Service curve number(SCS-CN) method. Parameters of the model were selected and determined according to the comprehensive analysis of model evaluation indexes. The first simulation of forest reconstruction scenario,namely a coniferous forest covering 59.35km^2 is replaced by a broad-leaved forest showed no significant impact on the flood reduction in the URTR. The second simulation was added with 61.75km^2 bamboo forest replaced by broad-leaved forest,the reduction of flood peak discharge and flood volume could be improved significantly. Specifically,flood peak discharge of 10-year return period event was reduced to 7-year event,and the reduction rate of small flood was 21%-28%. Moreover,the flood volume was reduced by 9%-14% and 18%-35% for moderate floods and small floods,respectively. The resultssuggest that the bamboo forest reconstruction is an effective control solution for small to moderate flood in the URTR,the effect of forest conversion on flood volume is increasingly reduced as the rainfall amount increases to more extreme magnitude. Using a hydrological model with scenarios analysis is an effective simulation approach in investigating the relationship between forest type change and flood control. This method would provide reliable support for flood control and disaster mitigation in mountainous cities.
