The spin qubit in quantum dots is one of the leading platforms for quantum computation.A crucial requirement for scalable quantum information processing is the high efficient *** we analyze the measurement process of a quantum-dot spin qubit coupled to a superconducting transmission line ***,the phase shift of the resonator is sensitive to the spin states and the gate *** response of the resonator can be used to measure the spin qubit efficiently,which can be extend to read out the multiple spin qubits in a scalable solid-state quantum processor.

High-performance optical quantum memories serving as quantum nodes are crucial for the distribution of remote entanglement and the construction of large-scale quantum ***,quantum systems based on single emitters can achieve deterministic spin–photon entanglement,which greatly simplifies the difficulty of constructing quantum network *** them,optically interfaced spins embedded in solid-state systems,as atomic-like emitters,are important candidate systems for implementing long-lived quantum memory due to their stable physical properties and robustness to decoherence in scalable and compact *** enhance the strength of light-matter interactions,optical microcavities can be exploited as an important tool to generate high-quality spin–photon entanglement for scalable quantum *** can enhance the photon collection probability and photon generation rate of specific optical transitions and improve the coherence and spectral purity of emitted *** solid-state systems,open Fabry–Pérot cavities can couple single emitters that are not in proximity to the surface,avoiding significant spectral diffusion induced by the interfaces while maintaining the wide tunability,which enables addressing of multiple single emitters in the frequency and spatial domain within a single *** review described the characteristics of single emitters as quantum memories with a comparison to atomic ensembles,the cavity-enhancement effect for single emitters and the advantages of different cavities,especially fiber Fabry–Pérot ***,recent experimental progress on solid-state single emitters coupled with fiber Fabry–Pérot microcavities was also reviewed,with a focus on color centers in diamond and silicon carbide,as well as rare-earth dopants.

A memory-based quantum repeater architecture provides a solution to distribute quantum information to an arbitrary long *** quantum repeaters are likely to be built in optical-fiber networks which take advantage of the low-loss transmission between quantum memory *** quantum memory platforms have characteristic atomic transitions away from the telecommunication band.A nondegenerate photon pair source is therefore useful for connection of a quantum memory to optical ***,we report a high-brightness narrowband photon-pair source which is compatible with a rare-earth-ion-doped crystal Pr^3+:*** photon-pair source is generated through a cavityenhanced spontaneous parametric down-conversion process with the signal photon at 606 nm and the idler photon at 1540 ***,using the telecom C-band idler photons for heralding,we demonstrate the reversible transfer of orbital-angular-momentum qubit between the signal photon and the quantum memory based on Pr3^+:Y2SiO5.

The implementation of scalable quantum networks requires photons at the telecom band and long-lived spin *** single Er^(3+) in solid-state hosts is an important candidate that fulfills these critical requirements ***,to entangle distant Er^(3+) ions through photonic connections,the emission frequency of individual Er^(3+) in solid-state matrix must be the same,which is challenging because the emission frequency of Er^(3+) depends on its local ***,we propose and experimentally demonstrate the Stark tuning of the emission frequency of a single Er^(3+) in a Y_(2)SiO_(5) crystal by employing electrodes interfaced with a silicon photonic crystal *** obtain a Stark shift of 182.9±0.8 MHz,which is approximately 27 times of the optical emission linewidth,demonstrating promising applications in tuning the emission frequency of independent Er^(3+) into the same spectral *** results provide a useful solution for construction of scalable quantum networks based on single Er^(3+) and a universal tool for tuning emission of individual rare-earth ions.

Memory-based quantum communication can overcome the distance limit by adopting either the approach of a quantum repeater[1]or a transportable quantum memory[2,3].Photonic quantum memories have been demonstrated with various physical systems,including single atoms inside optical cavities[4],atomic gases[5]and impurities in solids[6].As an emerging solid-state platform,rare-earth-ion doped solids have enabled optical quantum storage with remarkable performances[6–9].Moreover,the rare-earth-ion doped crystal,i.e.,Eu^(3+):Y_(2)SiO_(5),is currently the only candidate for a transportable photonic quantum memory,due to its hours-long optical storage times[3].Despite these remarkable achievements,rare-earth-ion doped crystals typically have birefringence and anisotropic absorption which make the storage of polarization-qubits become a great challenge.

In optical metrological protocols to measure physical quantities,it is,in principle,always beneficial to in crease photon number n to improve measurement ***,practical constraints prevent the arbitrary increase of n due to the imperfections of a practical detector,especially when the detector response is dominated by the saturation *** this work,we show that a modified weak measurement protocol,namely,biased weak measurement significantly improves the precision of optical metrology in the presence of saturation *** method detects an ultra-small fraction of photons while main tains a considerable amount of metrological *** biased pre-coupling leads to an additi onal reduction of photons in the post-selection and gene rates an extinction point in the spectrum distribution,which is extremely sensitive to the estimated parameter and difficult to be ***,the Fisher information can be persistently enhanced by increasing the photon *** our magnetic-sensing experiment,biased weak measurement achieves precision approximately one order of magnitude better than those of previously used *** proposed method can be applied in various optical measurement schemes to remarkably mitigate the detector saturation effect with low-cost apparatuses.

The faithful storage and coherent manipulation of quantum states with matter-systems enable the construction of large-scale quantum networks based on quantum repeater. To achieve useful communication rates, highly multimode quantum memories will be required to construct a multiplexed quantum repeater. Here, we present the first demonstration of the on-demand storage of orbital-angular-momentum states with weak coherent pulses at the single-photon-level in a rare-earth-ion doped crystal. Through the combination of this spatial degree-of-freedom with temporal and spectral degrees of freedom, we create a multiple-degree-of-freedom memory with high multimode capacity. This device can serve as a quantum mode converter with high fidelity, which is the fundamental requirements for the construction of a multiplexed quantum repeater. This device further enables essentially arbitrary spectral and temporal manipulations of spatial-qutrit-encoded photonic pulses in real-time. Therefore, the developed quantum memory can serve as a building block for scalable photonic quantum information processing architectures.

Photonic quantum computation plays an important role and offers unique *** decades after the milestone work of Knill-Laflamme-Milburn,various architectures of photonic processors have been proposed,and quantum advantage over classical computers has also been *** is now the opportune time to apply this technology to real-world ***,at current technology level,this aim is restricted by either programmability in bulk optics or loss in integrated optics for the existing architectures of processors,for which the resource cost is also a *** we present a von-Neumann-like architecture based on temporal-mode encoding and looped structure on table,which is capable of multimode-universal programmability,resource-efficiency,phasestability and *** order to illustrate these merits,we execute two different programs with varying resource requirements on the same processor,to investigate quantum signature of chaos from two aspects:the signature behaviors exhibited in phase space(13 modes),and the Fermi golden rule which has not been experimentally studied in quantitative way before(26 modes).The maximal program contains an optical interferometer network with 1694 freely-adjustable *** current state-of-the-art,our architecture stands as the most promising candidate for real-world applications.

Optical memories can be categorized into three regimes,including the optical data storage that use light as a tool to store classical bit values[1,2],coherent memories for light which preserve the amplitude and the phase information of input optical pulses[3,4]and optical quantum memories that specifically work for quantum light field[5,6].Recently,Bland-Hawthorn et al.[7]proposed to construct long-baseline optical telescopes based on transportable optical memories.
