Mild traumatic brain injury(mTBI)-induced post-traumatic headache(PTH)is a pressing public health concern and leading cause of disability *** PTH is often accompanied by neurological disorders,the exact underlying mechanism remains largely *** potential biomarkers may prompt the diagnosis and development of effective treatments for mTBI-induced *** this study,a mouse model of mTBI-induced PTH was established to investigate its effects on cerebral structure and function during short-term *** indicated that mice with mTBI-induced PTH exhibited balance deficits during the early post-injury *** kinetics revealed that variations in neurotransmitters were most prominent in the cerebellum,temporal lobe/cortex,and hippocampal regions during the early stages of ***,variations in brain functional activities and connectivity were further detected in the early stage of PTH,particularly in the cerebellum and temporal cortex,suggesting that these regions play central roles in the mechanism underlying ***,our results suggested that GABA and glutamate may serve as potential diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers for *** studies should explore the specific neural circuits involved in the regulation of PTH by the cerebellum and temporal cortex,with these two regions potentially utilized as targets for non-invasive stimulation in future clinical treatment.

Characterizations on the instantaneously formed Ni-containing intermetallics in magnesium alloys

Instantaneous reactions of Al,Mn,Zn,Zr and Y with Ni by mixing the prepared Mg-8Al-0.4Mn,Mg-6Zn-2Y-0.5Zr and Mg-0.6Ni melts were investigated in this work to reveal the underlying mechanisms of their effects on the removal of Ni *** results indicate three Ni-containing intermetallics,namely Al_(4)NiY,Al_(4)Ni(Y,Zr)and Al_(31)Ni_(2)Mn_(6).The former two phases present lath-like and have a relatively larger size(>20μm in length)than the latest one which is granular with the diameter of∼120 *** illustrates that Al and Y(/Zr)can efficiently remove Ni by forming Al_(4)NiY or Al_(4)Ni(Y,Zr)which would precipitate to the bottom of the ***,adding Y into Mg-Al based alloys can simultaneously remove Fe and Ni,which contributes their excellent corrosion ***,this paper proposes two methods helped to efficiently remove Ni for both Mg-Al based alloys and Al-free Mg alloys,and both of them are also benefit to improve alloys’strength.

Numeric modelling and risk assessment of pollutions in the Chinese Bohai Sea

To simulate the dynamic process of total nitrogen(TN) in seas, numerical modelling combined with the adjoint method is implemented in this study. Because nonpoint source terms(ST) and initial values(IV) of TN are essential but difficult to determine, the adjoint method was applied to a numerical model, and the ST and IV terms of TN were inverted via routine monitoring data in the Bohai Sea. In twin experiments, the adjoint method was capable of inverting the prescribed spatio-temporally distributed ST and the spatial distributed IV. In practical experiments, the results demonstrated that the simulation precision with ST inversion was higher than that with IV inversion and was accurate with joint initial values and source term(IST) inversion. This result indicates that nonpoint source TN is essential for the simulation of TN concentration. Furthermore, the simulated results indicate that the pollution in three bays of the Bohai Sea is rather severe. The model in this study is not specific to the Bohai Sea and can be generalized to other areas, such as the Beibu Gulf. These findings may assist in the development of cost-effective controls for accidental or planned industrial pollutant releases into coastal waters.

Preparation of high-rate anode materials based on porous highly conductive carbon coating and SiOx disproportionation reaction

Silicon monoxide（SiOx） has garnered considerable attention as an anode material owing to its high ***, its commercial viability is hampered by the low conductivity and inadequate cycling stability. In this study, a micrometer-scale silicon oxide/carbon composite（1000-SiOx/NC） was developed based on the porous and high electrical conductivity of pyrolyzed polydopamine（PDA） and the high-temperature disproportionation of SiOx. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）analyses confirmed that the pyrolysis of polydopamine（PDA） not only improves electrode conductivity but also contributes to the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interface（SEI）. Additionally, SiOxundergoes disproportionation reactions during the pyrolysis of PDA, further the improves the cyclic stability of the ***, the 1000-SiOx/NC composite electrode exhibited an impressive specific capacity of 783.4 mAh·g-1after 500 cycles at 1 A g-1, maintaining 80.1 % of its initial capacity. Additionally, at a high rate of 3 C, its capacity reached 607.3 mAh·g-1The synthesis approach is both straightforward and economical, offering a fresh avenue for the widespread commercial deployment of SiOx.

Water promoted photocatalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural to furfural alcohol over ultralow loading metal supported on TiO_(2)

Photocatalytic hydrogenation of furfural offers an ideal method for selective biomass upgrading into value-added chemicals or fuel additives under mild conditions. However, it is still challenging to control the product selectivity due to side reactions of functional groups and reactive radical ***, photocatalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural was studied using the TiO_(2)-based photocatalysts with alcohols as both the solvent and hydrogen donor. Ultralow loading metal supported on TiO_(2),together with adding a small amount of water in the system, were demonstrated to greatly increase the selectivity of furfuryl alcohol product. Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis) and photoluminescence(PL) measurements gave evidence that ultralow loading Pt or Pd on TiO_(2)increase the oxygen vacancy concentration and the photogenerated charge separation efficiency, which accelerates the photocatalytic reduction of furfural. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS) and mechanistic studies confirmed that photogenerated holes and electrons are active species, with dissociatively adsorbed methanol being directly oxidized by holes,furfural hydrogenated by protons and electrons and H_(2)O modifying the intermediate diffusion which contributes to high selectivity of furfuryl alcohol. This work demonstrates a simple approach to design photocatalysts and tune product selectivity in biomass valorization.

Effects of chronic renal failure on the expression of connexin 43 in the rat＇s corpus cavernosum

Aim： To explore the mechanism of chronic renal failure （CRF）-related erectile dysfunction （ED）. Methods： CRF experimental models were established by 5/6 nephrectomy from male Sprague-Dawley rats. Both the rats from the control group （NCRF group, n = 6） and the experimental group （CRF group, n = 30） were injected with a low dose （80 μg/g） of apomorphine in the 12th week after resection surgery to measure corresponding penile erections. Western blot method was thereafter conducted to measure the expression of connexin 43 （CX43） in the rat corpus cavernosum in the 12th week after the resection surgery. Results： There was one death in the NCRF group and five in the CRF group. The penile erection ratio of the CRF group was 28% （7/25）, whereas that of the NCRF group was 100% （5/5）, which presents a significant difference between the two groups （P 〈 0.05）. In terms of penile erection frequency, the average of the CRF group was 1.0 ± 0.0, which was significantly different from that of the NCRF group （2.2 ± 0.8）（P 〈 0.05）. As for the expression of CX43 in the rat corpus cavernosum, a notable difference existed between the CRF group （0.21 ± 0.07） and the NCRF group （0.53 ± 0.27）（P 〈 0.01）. Conclusion： CRF significantly reduces the erectile function of rats. A close correlation exists between the expression of CX43 in rats＇ corpus cavernosum and CRF-related ED. （Asian J Andro12008 Mar; 10： 286-289）

Effects of tide-surge interactions on storm surges along the coast of the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea

A two-dimensional coupled tide-surge model was used to investigate the effects of tide-surge interactions on storm surges along the coast of the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea. In order to estimate the impacts of tide-surge interactions on storm surge elevations, Typhoon 7203 was assumed to arrive at 12 different times, with all other conditions remaining constant. This allowed simulation of tide and total water levels for 12 separate cases. Numerical simulation results for Yingkou, Huludao, Shijiusuo, and Lianyungang tidal stations were analyzed. Model results showed wide variations in storm surge elevations across the 12 cases. The largest difference between 12 extreme storm surge elevation values was of up to 58 cm and occurred at Yingkou tidal station. The results indicate that the effects of tide-surge interactions on storm surge elevations are very significant. It is therefore essential that these are taken into account when predicting storm surge elevations.

Polyploidy after hybridization between species can lead to immediate post-zygotic isolation,causing saltatory origin of new *** the incidence of polyploidization in plants is high,it is thought that a new polyploid lineage can succeed only if it establishes a new ecological niche divergent from its progenitor *** tested the hypothesis that Rhodiola integrifolia from North America is an allopolyploid produced by R. rhodantha and *** and determined whether its survival can be explained by the niche divergence *** this end,we sequenced two low-copy nuclear genes(ncpGS and rpb2) in a phylogenetic analysis of 42 Rhodiola species and tested for niche equivalency and similarity using Schoener’s D as the index of niche *** phylogeny-based approach showed that R integrifolia possesses alleles from both R. rhodantha and rosea Dating analysis showed that the hybridization event that led to *** occurred ca.1.67 Mya and niche modeling analysis showed that at this time,both *** and *** may have been present in Beringia,providing the opportunity for the hybridization *** also found that the niche of *** differs from that of its progenitors in both niche breadth and *** together,these results confirm the hybrid origin of *** and support the niche divergence hypothesis for this tetraploid *** results underscore the fact that lineages with no current overlapping distribution could produce hybrid descendants in the past,when climate oscillations made their distributions overlap.

Exceptional reversed yield strength asymmetry in a rare-earth free Mg alloy containing quasicrystal precipitates

This work reports an exceptional reversed yield strength asymmetry at room temperature for a rare-earth free magnesium alloy containing a mass of fine dispersed quasicrystal(I-phase)*** exhibiting traditional basal texture,it owns an exceptional CYS/TYS as high as~*** back-scattered diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)examinations indicate pyramidal and prismatic dislocations plus tensile twinning being activated after immediate yielding in compression while basal and non-basal dislocations in tension.I-phase particles transferred the concentrated stress by self-twinning to provide the driving force for tensile twin initiating in neighboring grains,thereby significantly increasing the critical resolved shear stress of tensile twinning to possibly the level of pyramidal slip,finally leading to the dominance of pyramidal slip plus tensile twinning in texture *** results in a higher contribution on yield strength by~55 MPa in compression than in tension,which reasonably agrees with the experimental yield strength difference(~38 MPa).It can be concluded that I-phase particles influence deformation modes in tension and in compression,finally result in reversed yield strength asymmetry.
