According to magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)studies,brain white matter(WM)abnormalities have been suggested to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of major depressive disorder(MDD)and related suicidal ***,MRI findings may be limited by low spatial resolution;therefore,an important contribution to the understanding of the role and significance of WM alterations derived by the development of the most recent magnetic resonance techniques,such as diffusion tensor imaging(DTI).Several DTI studies reported an association between altered WM integrity and MDD/suicidal *** WM abnormalities may be located in neural circuits critically implicated in emotional processes and mood regulation resulting in enhanced vulnerability to psychiatric *** abnormalities detected using DTI may contribute to functional deficits and help to clarify the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying MDD as well as suicidal *** a clinical point of view,research also suggested that affective temperaments may play a relevant role in the psychopathological characteristics of mood disorders,clinical trajectory of episodes and polarity,long‑term outcome and ***,only few studies investigated the association between affective temperaments and WM abnormalities and discussed their possible implications in patients with MDD and suicidal *** a comprehensive search of Medline database,the aim of the present study was to critically review the current literature on the association between WM alterations as assessed by MRI and DTI techniques,affective temperaments,MDD and suicidal behavior.

This paper presents a practice-based research to achieve a deeper understanding of the spatial issues related to backpacker tourism, a booming industry in Budapest. The authors designed six backpacker hostels between 2013 and 2015, and of these, four are presently in operation. Hostels are the main infrastructures within the global network of backpacker tourism. Results from the design process revealed that the creation and operation of hostels are significantly influenced by three issues, namely, informality, density, and adaptability. These issues are negotiated on three interconnected tevels： the city, the building, and the interior. The authors developed an experimental structure for dormitory spaces as a conscious reaction to these issues. This experimental structure is presented and evaluated, and further paths of development are formulated based on the results.

We propose a game-theoretic model for a first-price sealed-bid auction （FPSB auction） of standing timber. A FPSB auction means that bidders simultaneously submit sealed bids so that no bidder knows the bid of any other participant. The highest bidder pays the submitted price. The mathematical model has been elaborated considering only two bidders. Each bidder is supposed to know only the probability distribution of the bid of the other bidder. Using ap- propriate distributions, the adversity and propensity of a bidder to risk can be described. From the view point of a bidder, the conservative solution is calculated for both types of the other bidder. If a standing timber belongs to a public owner, the market has to follow a public evidence procedure, including public auctions. The function obtained is illustrated with a numerical example of a typical standing timber auction from a forest located in central Italy. Considering average costs and prices of the local chestnut timber market, winning bids and expected gains are estimated. Their amounts are com- parable with the currently average stumpage price registered in this market.

We investigate the effects of social distancing in controlling the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic using a simple susceptible-infected-removed epidemic *** show that an alternative or complementary approach based on targeted isolation of the vulnerable sub-population may provide a more efficient and robust strategy at a lower economic and social cost within a shorter timeframe resulting in a collectively immune population.

AIM To evaluate the immunohistochemical(IHC) expression of five biomarkers, commonly involved in epithelial mesenchymal/mesenchymal epithelial transition(EMT/MET), in gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs). METHODS In 80 consecutive GISTs the IHC examinations were performed using the EMT-related antibodies E-cadherin,N-cadherin, SLUG, V-set and immunoglobulin domain containing 1(VSIG1) and CD44. RESULTS The positivity rate was 88.75% for SLUG, 83.75% for VSIG1, 36.25% for CD44 and 10% for N-cadherin. No correlation was noted between the examined markers and clinicopathological parameters. Nuclear positivity for SLUG and VSIG1 was observed in all cases with distant metastasis. The extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors(e-GISTs) expressed nuclear positivity for VSIG1 and SLUG, with infrequent positivity for N-cadherin and CD44. The low overall survival was mainly dependent on VSIG1 negativity(P = 0.01) and nuclear positivity for SLUG and/or CD44. CONCLUSION GIST aggressivity may be induced by nuclear upregulation of SLUG and loss or cytoplasm-to-nuclear translocation of VSIG1. SLUG and VSIG1 may act as activated nuclear transcription factors. The CD44, but not N-cadherin, might also have an independent prognostic value in these tumors. The role of the EMT/MET-related transcription factors in the evolution of GISTs, should be revisited with a larger dataset. This is the first study exploring the IHC pattern of VSIG1 in GISTs.

Brain is one of the most temperature sensitive *** the fundamental role of temperature in cellular metabolism,thermal response of neuronal populations is also significant during the evolution of various neurodegenerative *** such critical environmental factor,thorough mapping of cellular response to variations in temperature is desired in the living *** far,limited efforts have been made to create complex devices that are able to modulate temperature,and concurrently record multiple features of the stimulated *** our work,the in vivo application of a multimodal photonic neural probe is ***,thermal,and electrophysiological functions are monolithically integrated in a single *** system facilitates spatial and temporal control of temperature distribution at high precision in the deep brain tissue through an embedded infrared waveguide,while it provides recording of the artefact-free electrical response of individual cells at multiple locations along the probe *** distribution of the optically induced temperature changes is evaluated through in vitro measurements and a validated multi-physical *** operation of the multimodal microdevice is demonstrated in the rat neocortex and in the hippocampus to increase or suppress firing rate of stimulated neurons in a reversible manner using continuous wave infrared light(λ=1550 nm).Our approach is envisioned to be a promising candidate as an advanced experimental toolset to reveal thermally evoked responses in the deep neural tissue.
