The aim of this paper is to evaluate a newly developed one dimensional unsteady flow,sediment transport and bed evolution model for a looped river network through a long term simulation of a reallife *** model was assessed by verifying it for the Danube,Tisa,and Sava rivers in Serbia for a five year time *** total length of the modeled domain was 741.94 km from which 486.48 km is the length of the modeled Danube River reach,132.50 km the modeled section of the Sava and 122.96 km the length of the modeled Tisa River *** simulated domain included smaller tributaries such as the Kolubara,Mlava,Nera,Pek,Porecka,Tamis,and Great Morava *** to the size of the domain that was included in the model,the work also includes extensive research regarding the available measurements,issues with measurement errors,and suggestions on overcoming incomplete measurements by developing different types of *** attained results were analyzed by comparing the simulation results with measured water levels,discharges,and suspended sediment *** implemented evaluation of the results confirmed the developed model's reliability.

To design an efficient intermittent gas-lift installation,reliable information is needed in the performance of all process components,from the outer boundary of the reservoir to the surface *** gas lift valve is the one critical component that affects the design of the whole *** intermittent producing system,the pilot gas-lift valve is extremely used to control the point of compressed gas entry into the production tubing and acts as a pressure regulator.A novel approach using computational fluid dynamics simulation was performed in this study to develop a dynamic model for the gas passage performance of a 1-in.,Nitrogen-charged,pilot gas-lift *** performance curves were obtained by using Methane as an injection gas with flow rates reaching up to 4.5 MMscf/*** study investigates the effect of internal pressure,velocity and temperature distribution within the pilot valve that cannot be predicted in the experiments and mathematical models during the flow-performance studies.A general equation of the nonconstant discharge coefficient has been developed for 1-inch pilot valve to be used for further calculation in the industry without using CFD *** developed model significantly reduces the complexity of the data required to calculate the discharge coefficient.

A computational fluid dynamics model(CFD)is developed for intermittent gas lift *** simulation is conducted for a test section of 18 m vertical tube with 0.076 m in diameter using air as injection gas and oil as a formation *** results obtained from the CFD model are validated with the experiment results from the *** current study shows that computational modeling is a proven simulation program for predicting intermittent gas lift characteristics and the transient flow parameters that are changing with time and position in the coordinate *** model can predict the slug velocity behavior for different injection *** slug velocity profile shows three regions;the first region is the rapid acceleration at the initial time of injection,the second region shows the nearly constant velocity until the slug reaches the surface and the third region is again the rapid acceleration when the liquid starts to ***,the results obtained from this model show that as the gas injection pressure increases,the liquid slug velocity increase,and the region of the constant velocity *** effect of the injection time on the liquid production rate has been studied for two different gas injection pressures of 40 psig and 50 *** developed model shows that more than 50%of the liquid production is coming from after flow period.

Aims Possible shifts in the phenotypic performance along invasive plants’spreading route are rarely examined due to the discontinuous and incomplete records of exotic *** the invasion history of common ragweed(Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.)is well documented in Hungary,its residence time is known for each *** sampling a sequence of older to more recently established populations,we aimed to determine(i)whether there are phenotypic divergences along the historical spreading route of ***;(ii)which traits are under selection during the invasion process and(iii)the extent of maternal effects on the individual’s *** We used a hierarchical sampling design to collect seeds from 64 individuals belonging to eight sites in four residence time categories(seven populations along the historical spreading route of ragweed in Hungary and one recently invaded site in Romania).We selected four large and four small individual plants in each population to control for maternal *** offspring were reared in a common garden located in *** vegetative phenotypic traits were measured at the end of the experiments and used in the subsequent analysis(plant height,basal diameter,number of secondary axes,length of the longest secondary axis and biomass).To summarize the variation of these highly correlated traits,principal component analysis was performed first and then the important components were used in linear mixed effect *** Findings The residence time categories were significantly distinguished by the first component,which compresses the variation of all five measured *** measures gradually decrease from populations with the longest residence time(introduced more than 65 years ago)towards the most recently established populations(established less than 30 years ago).These differences might reflect the invasion history of the populations:the longer the residence time the higher the chance to develop relevant traits

The study of human-environment relationships in mountain areas is important for both theoretical and practical reasons, as many mountain areas suffer similar problems, such as depopulation, unemployment and natural hazards. Medium mountains constitute a special case within mountains, because they are more populated but less attractive as tourist destinations than high mountains. In this context, the Apuseni Mts （Romania） are considered as a ease study. In this paper, we apply GIS-based, quantitative methods to characterize the strength and dynamics of human-environment interactions, taking into consideration some environmental factors （elevation, relative height, slope, river distance, lithology, land cover, natural attractions） as well as historical population and recent tourism data. We found that population density has strong （r2〉0.8） relationships with all relief factors （elevation, relative height, slope, river distance）, and that best-fit functions are nonlinear. We outlined the varying demographic scenarios by elevation zones and interpreted the historically switching sign of population change versus elevation relationship. We demonstrated that lithology also has an impact on the spatial distribution of population, although it is not independent from the relief effect. The land cover of the mainly cultural landscape is very strongly correlated with relief parameters （especially slope）, which suggests good adaptation. We pointed out the dominance of karst objects in the natural tourism potential of the Apuseni Mts and also explored further components of real tourism （spas, heritage, towns）. Finally, we concluded that the environmental settings investigated do in fact constrain the spatial framework of society, but soeio-economic changes in history can be explained from the side of society, which conforms to the theory of cultural possibilism.

Paracetamol （PCM） was crystallized from an isopropanol （IPA） solution containing various small amounts of metacetamol as an additive. The effect on the nucleation kinetics was studied by measuring the induction time to nucleation and the metastable zone width using focused beam reflectance measurements （FBRM） and attenuated total reflectance （ATR-UV/Vis） spectroscopy. Both the induction time and the metastable zone width were expressed as functions of the additive concentration. Small amounts ofmetacetamol （1-4 tool-%） were found to cause significant inhibition to the nucleation by extending both the induction time and the metastable zone width. A progressive change in the morphology of the paracetamol crystals from tabular to columnar habit was observed with increasing metacetamol concentration. The solvent also had a significant effect on the size of the paracetamol crystals as smaller crystals were obtained in IPA than in aqueous solution. The dissolution rate of paracetamol was improved by the incorporation of metacetamol with 4 tool-% having the most effect. A supersaturation control （SSC） approach was implemented for the PCM-IPA system with and without metacetamol in an attempt to control and obtain larger metacetamol-doped paraeetamol crystals.

Testicular torsion may lead to serious ischemia, and the viability depends on the duration of torsion and the effect of ischemia-reperfusion. Testicular decompression and tunica vaginalis flap application technique were introduced in 2008 by Kutikov et al. We aimed to examine the impact of this method on the testicular microcirculation and hemorheological parameters in a rat model. Six adult rats underwent bilateral scrotal exploration. Intravaginal torsion of the testis was created by 720° rotation on both sides for 2 h. After detorsion, the right testes underwent tunica albuginea incision and tunica vaginalis flap application. Testicular microcirculation was monitored and hematological parameters, erythrocyte deformability, and aggregation were determined. Measurements were performed before and after torsion, directly after detorsion, on the 1^st-2^nd and 8^th postoperative day. After the last sampling, testicles were removed to determine their volume for histological examinations. The microcirculatory parameters demonstrated slight differences between testicles. Apical zone of the left （nondecompressed） testicles had elevated compared to the middle zone （P 〈 0.05）. On the 2^nd and 8^th day, the microcirculation of the testes normalized but not equally. The erythrocyte aggregation and deformability decreased by the 8^th day. Both testicles underwent atrophy and epithelial necrosis, but the volume of the decompressed ones was lower （1.07±0.08 vs 1.25 ± 0.31）. Histologically, there was no significant difference in epithelial damage score between decompressed and nondecompressed testes. In conclusion, 2-h ischemia led to alteration in testicular microcirculation, reduction in volume, changes in hemorheological parameters and serious epithelial necrosis both in decompressed and nondecompressed testicles without remarkable differences.
