Agreen regioselective synthesis of some new and known 9-aryl-5,9-dihydropyrimido[4,5-d][l,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-6,8（4H,7H）-diones has been described via the microwave-assisted one-pot reaction of 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazoles,aromatic aldehydes and barbituric acids under solvent- and catalyst-free *** operationally simple procedure is less laborious and provides a better scope than previously reported procedures.

The present paper focuses on finding an analytical solution for fully developed third-grade non-Newtonian fluids flows inside rough circular pipes at low Reynolds numbers(Stokes flows).The wall roughness is modeled by two different periodic morphologies based on sinusoidal and triangular *** this study,the relative roughness(ratio of the roughness amplitude to the pipe hydraulic diameter)is selected to be a small value,which is appropriate for the perturbation *** governing parameters including the axial and radial velocity profiles,stream function,wall shear stress,pressure gradient,and friction factor are expressed in analytical formulas and they are compared to the smooth *** effect of the relative roughness,the wall wave number,and the non-Newtonian parameter on the governing parameters are *** results show that modeling the roughness by triangular geometry has a better prediction of pressure drop regarding the basic solution of the smooth pipe.

A precise map of the dispersion of the groundwater potential across each watershed can help decision-makers to exert optimal water management in each *** this research,the potential of groundwater resources in both the Zanjanrood Catchment and the Tarom Region,located in the northwest of Iran,has been *** effective criteria including slope,land-use,drainage density,spring density,lithology,lineament density,and rainfall are *** were first weighted using the Analytical Hierarchical Process(AHP)method and then overlaid by the Technique for Order Preferences by Similarity to Ideal(TOPSIS)***,the spatial zoning map of groundwater potential was obtained in four categories.A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the influence of each criterion on the obtained *** model was verified using both the spatial distribution of the high-discharged production wells and the geophysical-based geoelectric field *** results indicate that the high-discharged wells(>40 l/s)in both regions are dispersed predominantly in the very good zone and,in several cases,in the good ***,the results from the two-dimensional models of resistivity and induced polarization of geoelectrical field survey are inappropriate agreement with those from the TOPSIS ***,there is no suitable potential zone of groundwater in the surrounding highlands to be used in the future for drinking purposes since the highlands water supply is a strategic supply for *** strategies employed in this study,the results of GIS modeling,and the geoelectrical analysis can be considered for sustainable development of similar arid and semi-arid areas since groundwater is considered as the main supplier of water in such regions.

Microstructure and Sliding Wear Behaviour of Ni(Cr)-TiB_2 Coatings Deposited by HVOF Spraying of SHS Powders

This work reports research concerning the microstructure and sliding wear behaviour of cermet coatings deposited by high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying. Two cermets were prepared with the following target compositions namely, Ni (Cr)-65 wt.% TiB2 and Ni (Cr)-40 wt.% TiB2. Coating microstructures were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), whilst microhardness and sliding wear tests were performed on the coatings to evaluate their performance. The HVOF sprayed deposits had layered, splat-like morphologies typical of thermally sprayed cermets. Coatings consisted primarily of TiB2 particles in a nickel-based binder phase. Other minor peaks in the XRD patterns belong to TiB, Ni2B, NiTiO3 and Ti2Oj. The coatings exhibit an amorphous halo in the diffraction pattern between 2 values of 40° and 50°. Sliding wear behaviour was examined using a conventional ball-on-disc apparatus. A sintered ceramic ball (A12O3) was employed as the counterface. The Ni (Cr)-65 wt.% TiB2 coating had a lower wear rate than Ni (Cr)-40 wt.% TiB2 coating. This may be related to the larger sizes of borides. Wear scar morphologies, on both coatings were examined by using SEM and EDAX detecting in order to establish the wear mechanism. Wear is proposed to proceed by subsurface cracking in these coatings.

Effects of Annealing on the Fabrication of Al-TiAl3 Nanocomposites Before and After Accumulative Roll Bonding and Evaluation of Strengthening Mechanisms

The strengthening mechanisms of Al-TiAl_(3) nanocomposite, fabricated using cold roll bonding, annealing, and accumulative roll bonding(ARB) on Al sheets sandwiching with pure Ti powder were investigated in the present study. With annealing at 590 ℃ for 2 h, TiAl_(3) intermetallic compound was formed. After subsequent ARB process up to 5 cycles, final composite consists of ultrafine Al grains of less than 500 nm with TiAl_(3) particles larger than 200 nm. The strength and hardness of the final composite are 2.5 and 3.5 times the initial values, with an ultimate tensile strength of 400 MPa, which is dominated by grain-boundary strengthening due to the ultrafine Al grains, and Orowan strengthening due to the small TiAl_(3) particles. For comparison, an alternative fabrication route of cold roll bonding–ARB–annealing was also studied. This study showed that annealing before ARB is a critical factor in producing an ultrafine grain structure containing TiAl_(3) particles.

Optimization of preparation conditions of Fe-Co nanoparticles in low-temperature CO oxidation reaction by taguchi design method

Mixed iron-cobalt oxide （Co/Fe molar ratio = 1/5） are prepared using a simple co-precipitation procedure and studied for the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide. In particular, the effects of a range of preparation variables such as pH value when precipitation, aging temperature, precipitation agent type and aging time are investigated on the catalytic performance of synthesized Fe-Co oxides in CO oxidation reaction. In addition, the preparation factors were optimized by Taguchi design method. The optimized sample was characterized by XRD, N2 adsortion/desorption, TEM and TGA/DTA techniques. The results reveal that the optimized sample shows a mesoporous structure with a narrow pore size distribution centered in the range of 2-7 nm. The sample prepared under optimized conditions has high activity and stability toward removal of carbon monoxide at lower temperatures. It is shown that different preparation variables influence the catalytic performance of Fe-Co oxide in CO oxidation reaction.
