Geostatistical seismic inversion and 3D modelling of metric flow units,porosity and permeability in Brazilian presalt reservoir

Flow units(FU)rock typing is a common technique for characterizing reservoir flow behavior,producing reliable porosity and permeability estimation even in complex geological ***,the lateral extrapolation of FU away from the well into the whole reservoir grid is commonly a difficult task and using the seismic data as constraints is rarely a subject of *** paper proposes a workflow to generate numerous possible 3D volumes of flow units,porosity and permeability below the seismic resolution limit,respecting the available seismic data at larger *** methodology is used in the Mero Field,a Brazilian presalt carbonate reservoir located in the Santos Basin,who presents a complex and heterogenic geological setting with different sedimentological processes and diagenetic *** generated metric flow units using the conventional core analysis and transposed to the well log ***,given a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm,the seismic data and the well log statistics,we simulated acoustic impedance,decametric flow units(DFU),metric flow units(MFU),porosity and permeability volumes in the metric *** aim is to estimate a minimum amount of MFU able to calculate realistic scenarios porosity and permeability scenarios,without losing the seismic lateral *** other words,every porosity and permeability volume simulated produces a synthetic seismic that match the real seismic of the area,even in the metric *** achieved 3D results represent a high-resolution fluid flow reservoir modelling considering the lateral control of the seismic during the process and can be directly incorporated in the dynamic characterization workflow.

Long-term high fructose and saturated fat diet affects plasma fatty acid profile in rats

As the consumption of fructose and saturated fatty acids(FAs) has greatly increased in western diets and is linked with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome,the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a mod-erate(10 weeks) and a prolonged(30 weeks) high fructose and saturated fatty acid(HFS) diet on plasma FA com-position in *** effects of a few weeks of HFS diet had already been described,but in this paper we tried to es-tablish whether these effects persist or if they are modified after 10 or 30 *** hypothesized that the plasma FA profile would be altered between 10 and 30 weeks of the HFS *** fed with either the HFS or a standard diet were tested after 10 weeks and again after 30 *** 10 weeks of feeding,HFS-fed rats developed the metabolic syndrome,as manifested by an increase in fasting insulinemia,total cholesterol and triglyceride levels,as well as by impaired glucose ***,the plasma FA profile of the HFS group showed higher proportions of monounsaturated FAs like palmitoleic acid [16:1(n-7)] and oleic acid [18:1(n-9)],whereas the proportions of some polyunsaturated n-6 FAs,such as linoleic acid [18:2(n-6)] and arachidonic acid [20:4(n-6)],were lower than those in the control *** 30 weeks of the HFS diet,we observed changes mainly in the levels of 16:1(n-7)(decreased) and 20:4(n-6)(increased).Together,our results suggest that an HFS diet could lead to an adaptive response of the plasma FA profile over time,in association with the development of the metabolic syndrome.

We report on the temporal contrast performance of the PHELIX facility in view of the requirements imposed by solidtarget interaction experiments. The requirement analysis for the nanosecond and picosecond temporal contrast is derived from empirical data and simple theoretical modeling, while the realization shows that using an ultrafast optical parametric amplifier and plasma mirrors enables meeting this specification.

The nonlinear Schrodinger equation equation is one of the most important physical models used in optical fiber theory to explain the transmission of an optical *** field of chiral soliton propagation in nuclear physics is very interesting because of its numerous applications in communications and ultra-fast signal routing ***(1+1)-dimensional chiral dynamical structure that describes the soliton behaviour in data transmission is dealt with in this work using a variety of in-depth analytical *** work has applications in particle physics,ionised science,nuclear physics,optics,and other applied mathematical *** are able to develop a variety of solutions to demonstrate the behaviour of solitary wave structures,periodic soliton solutions,chiral soliton solutions,and bell-shaped soliton solutions with the use of applied ***,in order to verify the scientific calculations,the stability analysis for the observed solutions of the governing model is taken into *** addition,the3-dimensional,contour,and 2-dimensional visuals are supplied for a better understanding of the behaviour of the *** employed strategies are dependable,uncomplicated,and effective;yet have not been utilised with the governing model in the literature that is now *** resulting outcomes have impressive applications across a large number of study areas and computational physics phenomena representing real-world *** methods applied in this model are not utilized on the given models in previous literature so we can say that these describe the novelty of the work.

Soft tissue sarcomas(STS)are a heterogenous group of rare malignancies of mesenchymal origin,affecting both children and *** majority of STS have a poor prognosis and advanced stage at the time of *** treatments for STS largely constitute tumour resection with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy,and there has been little significant advancement in the application of novel therapies for treatment of these *** current multimodal approach to therapy often leads to long-term side effects,and for some patients,resistance to cytotoxic agents is associated with local recurrence and/or *** is,therefore,a need for novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of *** advances in epigenetics have implicated the histone methyltransferase,EZH2,in the development and progression of diseases such as breast cancer,lymphoma and more recently *** we will review the current literature for EZH2 in STS,including high expression of EZH2 in STS and correlation of this with specific features of malignancy(metastasis,histological grade,and prognosis).The effects of targeting EZH2 using RNA interference and small molecule inhibitors will also be reviewed and the potential for the use of EZH2 inhibition in therapeutic strategies for STS patients will be discussed.

Influence of primary tumor location and resection on survival in metastatic colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND Patients with right sided colorectal cancer are known to have a poorer prognosis than patients with left sided colorectal cancer, whatever the cancer stage. To this day, primary tumor resection(PTR) is still controversial in a metastatic, non resectable *** To explore the survival impact of PTR in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC) depending on *** We retrospectively collected data from all consecutive patients treated for mCRC at the Centre Georges Francois Leclerc Hospital. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to assess the influence of PTR on survival. We then evaluated the association between PTL and overall survival among patients who previously underwent or did not undergo PTR. A propensity score was performed to match *** Four hundred and sixty-six patients were included. A total of 153(32.8%) patients had unresected synchronous mCRC and 313(67.2%) patients had resected synchronous mCRC. The number of patients with right colic cancer, left colic cancer and rectal cancer was respectively 174(37.3%), 203(43.6%) and 89(19.1%). In the multivariate analysis only PTL, PTR, resection of hepatic and or pulmonary metastases and the use of oxaliplatin, EGFR inhibitors or bevacizumab throughout treatment were associated to higher overall survival rates. Survival evaluation depending on PTR and PTL found that PTR improved the prognosis of both left and right sided mCRC. Results were confirmed by using a weighted propensity *** In mCRC, PTR seems to confer a higher survival rate to patients whatever the PTL.

Mainstreaming Early Warning Systems in Development and Planning Processes: Multilevel Implementation of Sendai Framework in Indus and Sahel

The third UN World Congress on Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Sendai, Japan in March 2015, agreed on a new framework to guide disaster risk reduction policy and practice for the next 15 years. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030(SFDRR) leaves important implementation issues unspecified and potentially creates both problems and opportunities for complex,multilevel governance systems in coping with hazards and disastrous events. Early warning systems(EWS), if built into the mainstream of planning for development and disaster relief and recovery, could present a significant opportunity to realize many SFDRR goals. We explore the complexities of using hydrometeorological EWS to prepare for drought and flood disasters in the densely populated communities of Pakistan’s Indus River Basin in contrast to the African Sahel’s less densely settled grasslands. Multilevel governance systems are often dominated by a topdown, technocentric, centralized management bias and have great difficulty responding to the needs of peripheral and vulnerable populations. People-centered, bottom-up approaches that incorporate disaggregated communities with local knowledge into a balanced, multilevel disaster risk management and governance structure have adramatically better chance of realizing the SFDRR goals for disaster risk reduction.

In recent times there has been a great deal of interest in the conversion of carbon dioxide into more useful chemical *** the other hand,the translation of these developments in electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide from the laboratory bench to practical scale remains an underexplored *** we examine some of the major challenges,demonstrating some promising strategies towards such scale-up,including increased electrode area and stacking of electrode pairs in different *** observed that increasing the electrode area from 1 to 10 cm^(2) led to only a 4%drop in current density,with similarly small penalties realised when stacking sub-cells together.

Cross Correlators and Galilean Invariance in Fluctuating Ideal Gas Lattice Boltzmann Simulations

Efficient use of natural resources(e.g.,light,water,and nutrients)can be improved with a tailored developmental program that maximizes the lifetime and fitness of *** plant shoots,a developmental phase represents a time window in which the meristem triggers the development of unique morphological and physiological traits,leading to the emergence of leaves,flowers,and *** developmental phases in plant shoots have been shown to enhance food production in crops,this phenomenon has remained poorly investigated in *** light of recent advances,we suggest that root development occurs in three main phases:root apical meristem appearance,foraging,and *** provide compelling evidence suggesting that these phases are regulated by at least four developmental pathways:autonomous,non-autonomous,hormonal,and *** developmental pathways differentially coordinate organ plasticity,promoting morphological alterations,tissue regeneration,and cell death ***,we suggest how nutritional checkpoints may allow progression through the developmental phases,thus completing the root life *** insights highlight novel and exciting advances in root biology that may help maximize the productivity of crops through more sustainable agriculture and the reduced use of chemical fertilizers.
