Melatonin and probiotics ameliorate nanoplastics-induced hematopoietic injury by modulating the gut microbiotametabolism

Plastic pollution has become a non-negligible global pollution problem.Nanoplastics(NP)can reach the bone marrow with blood circulation and develop hematotoxicity,but potential mechanisms and prevention strategies are lacking.Here,we report the biological distribution of NP particles in the bone marrow of mice and hematopoietic toxicity after exposure to 60μg of 80 nm NP for 42 days.NP exposure inhibited the capability of bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells to renew and differentiate.Notably,probiotics and melatonin supplementation significantly ameliorated NP-induced hematopoietic damage,and the former was superior to the latter.And interestingly,melatonin and probiotic interventions may involve different microbes and metabolites.After melatonin intervention,creatine showed a stronger correlation with NP-induced gut microbiota disorders.In contrast,probiotic intervention reversed the levels of more gut microbes and plasma metabolites.Of these,threonine,malonylcarnitine,and 3-hydroxybutyric acid might be potential performers in the regulation of hematopoietic toxicity by gut microbes,as they had a more significant relationship with the identified microbes.In conclusion,supplementation with melatonin or probiotics may be two candidates to prevent hematopoietic toxicity attributable to NP exposure.Also,the multi-omics results may lay the foundation for future investigations into in-depth mechanisms.

Fe/N/C catalysts,synthesized through the pyrolysis of Fe-doped metal–organic framework (MOF) precursors,have attracted extensive attention owing to their promising oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalytic activity in fuel cells and/or metal-air batteries.However,post-treatments (acid washing,second pyrolysis,and so on) are unavoidable to improve ORR catalytic activity and stability.The method for introducing Fe^(3+) sources (anhydrous Fe Cl_(3)) into the MOF structure,in particular,is a critical step that can avoid time-consuming post-treatments and result in more exposed Fe-N_(x) active sites.Herein,three different Fe doping strategies were systematically investigated to explore their influence on the types of active sites formed and ORR performance.Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)),synthesized by one-step pyrolysis of Fe doped ZIF-8 (Zn^(2+)) precursor which was obtained by adding the anhydrous Fe Cl_(3)source into the Zn(NO_(3))_(2)·6H_(2)O/methanol solution before mixing,possessed the highest Fe-N_(x)active sites due to the high-efficiency substitution of Zn^(2+)ions with Fe^(3+) ions during ZIF-8 growth,the strong interaction between Fe^(3+) ions and N atoms of 2-Methylimidazole (2-MIm),and ZIF-8’s micropore confinement effect.As a result,Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)) presented high ORR activity in the entire p H range (p H=1,7,and 13).At p H=13,Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)) exhibited a half-wave potential (E1/2) of 0.95 V (vs.reversible hydrogen electrode),which was 70 m V higher than that of commercial Pt/C.More importantly,Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)) showed superior ORR stability in neutral media without performance loss after 5,000 cycles.A record-high open-circuit voltage(1.9 V) was obtained when Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)) was used as a cathodic catalyst in assembled Mg-air batteries in neutral media.The assembled liquid and all-solid Mg-air batteries with high performance indicated that Fe-NC(Zn^(2+)) has enormous potential for use in flexible and wearable Mg-air batteries.

Lightweight and efficient carbon-based microwave absorbents are significant in addressing the increasing severity of electromagnetic pollution.In this study,hierarchical NiO/Ni nanosheets with a tuneable phase and morphology supported on a carbon fiber substrate(CF@NiO/Ni)were fabricated using a hydrothermal approach and post-annealing treatment.As the annealing temperature increases,more metallic Ni is formed,and an apparent porosity appears on the sheet surface.Benefiting from the advantages of a three-dimensional(3D)conducting network,hierarchical porous structure,reinforced dipole/interface polarization,multiple scattering,and good impedance matching,the CF@NiO/Ni-500 composite exhibits an excellent microwave absorption performance even at a filling rate of only 3wt%.Specifically,its minimal reflection loss is-43.92 dB,and the qualified bandwidth is up to 5.64 GHz.In addition,the low radar cross-section area of the CF@NiO/Ni composite coating confirms its strong ability to suppress electromagnetic wave scattering.We expect that this work could contribute to a deeper understanding of the phase and morphology evolution in enhancing microwave absorption.

Group scheduling problems have attracted much attention owing to their many practical applications.This work proposes a new bi-objective serial-batch group scheduling problem considering the constraints of sequence-dependent setup time,release time,and due time.It is originated from an important industrial process,i.e.,wire rod and bar rolling process in steel production systems.Two objective functions,i.e.,the number of late jobs and total setup time,are minimized.A mixed integer linear program is established to describe the problem.To obtain its Pareto solutions,we present a memetic algorithm that integrates a population-based nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II and two single-solution-based improvement methods,i.e.,an insertion-based local search and an iterated greedy algorithm.The computational results on extensive industrial data with the scale of a one-week schedule show that the proposed algorithm has great performance in solving the concerned problem and outperforms its peers.Its high accuracy and efficiency imply its great potential to be applied to solve industrial-size group scheduling problems.

The fluidic oscillator is an instrument that can continuously generate a spatially sweeping jet entirely based on its internal geometry without any moving parts.However,the traditional fluidic oscillator has an inherent limitation,that is,the spreading angle cannot be controlled independently,rather by the jet volume flow rate and internal geometry.Accordingly,two types of fluidic oscillators based on the master-slave design are developed in current study to decouple this correlation.In both designs,the master layer inherits the similar oscillation mechanisms of a sweeping jet,and the slave layer resembles a steady jet channel.The difference between the two designs is that Design A has a short diverging exit in the slave layer,but Design B adds a long interaction chamber in the exit channel to intensify flow instability.The external flow fields and governing oscillation properties of these two designs are experimentally explored with time-resolved Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV),while the internal flow dynamics and driving oscillation mechanisms are numerically investigated.By fixing the total volume flow rate,the jet spreading angle of Design A can be increased smoothly from 0°to above 100°by increasing the proportion of master layer’s flow rate from 0 to 100%.For Design B,the control authority of the master layer is significantly enhanced by adding the interaction chamber in the slave layer.In addition,the added chamber causes notable jet oscillation even when the master layer has none input.

Knowledge Graph Construction and Rule Matching Approach for Aerospace Product Manufacturability Assessment

As representatives of high-precision parts， aerospace products are characterized by complex structures， long production cycles and high precision requirements. After the design of aerospace products is completed， a manufacturability assessment needs to be conducted based on 3D model features in terms of modeling quality and process design， otherwise the cost of design changes will be increased. Due to the poor structure and reusability of product manufacturing feature information and assessment knowledge in the current aerospace product manufacturability assessment process， it is difficult to realize automated manufacturability assessment. To address these issues， this paper first establishes a domain ontology model for aerospace product manufacturability assessment. On this basis， a structured representation method of manufacturability assessment knowledge and a knowledge graph data layer construction method are proposed. Based on the semantic information and association information expressed by the knowledge graph， a rule matching method based on subgraph matching is proposed to improve the precision and recall. Finally， applications and experiments based on the software platform verify the effectiveness of the proposed knowledge graph construction and rule matching method.

Introduction:The objective of this paper was to assess the epidemiology of rabies in Hunan Province,analyze the associated factors,understand the status of prevention and treatment after rabies exposure,evaluate the effectiveness of prevention and treatment,and provide a scientific basis for formulating effective prevention and control measures.Methods:The surveillance data of rabies in Hunan Province in 2020 were collected and analyzed by descriptive epidemiological method.Results:In 2020,a total of 59 cases of rabies were reported in Hunan Province,with an incidence rate of 0.09/100,000.Overall,42 cases(71.19%)were due to animal bites and 43 cases(72.88%)were of grade III.The proportion of hand and combined injury of hand was the highest(40.68%).A total of 603,261 cases of rabies exposure were reported from the rabies post-exposure prophylaxis(PEP)clinic in Hunan Province.Dogs were the main animal causing injuries,accounting for 74.21%.Only 83,418(13.84%)of the animals had a clear immune history,and a total of 11 dog attacks were reported in Hunan Province.The average immunity rate of dogs in the whole province was 30.98%.In 2020,554 dogs were sampled in the whole province;20 of them were positive for a positivity rate of 3.61%.Conclusions:Rabies in Hunan Province in 2020 had a relatively low prevalence.Failure to treat wounds,immunoglobulin injections,and vaccination after exposure were the main causes of rabies.Therefore,post-exposure management of rabies should be further strengthened to reduce the risk of rabies for high-risk populations.

Defective layered Mn-based cathode materials with excellent performance via ion exchange for Li-ion batteries

Defective layered Mn-based materials were synthesized by Li/Na ion exchange to improve their electrochemical activity and Coulombic efficiency.The annealing temperature of the Na precursors was important to control the P3-P2 phase transition,which directly affected the structure and electrochemical characteristics of the final products obtained by ion exchange.The O3-Li_(0.78)[Li_(0.25)Fe_(0.075)Mn_(0.675)]O_(δ) cathode made from a P3-type precursor calcined at 700℃ was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectrometry and electron paramagnetic resonance.The results showed that the presence of abundant trivalent manganese and defects resulted in a discharge capacity of 230 mAh/g with an initial Coulombic efficiency of about 109%.Afterward,galvanostatic intermittent titration was performed to examine the Li^(+) ion diffusion coefficients,which affected the reversible capacity.First principles calculations suggested that the charge redistribution induced by oxygen vacancies(OV_(s))greatly affected the local Mn coordination environment and enhanced the structural activity.Moreover,the Li-deficient cathode was a perfect match for the pre-lithiation anode,providing a novel approach to improve the initial Coulombic efficiency and activity of Mn-based materials in the commercial application.

Monitoring changes in the epidemiologic features between different severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants is key to understanding the evolution of viral fitness in the host population.Here,we analyzed a successfully contained local outbreak of the Delta variant that took place in Hunan,China,in July–August,2021.Detailed data on SARS-CoV-2 infections and their contacts were collected during the outbreak.By leveraging these data,we estimated key epidemiological parameters,including the incubation period,serial interval,and generation time.We constructed a generalized linear mixed-effects model(GLMM)to quantify risk factors for Delta infection and transmission.Between July 28 and August 15,2021,a total of 129 infections and their 2,118 close contacts were identified during the outbreak in Hunan Province.
