microstructural Development of Ti-B Alloyed Layer for Hard Tissue Applications

microstructural development was analyzed due to the effect of different sizes of precursor powders during surface plasma alloying modification on titanium surface. Ti-B nano and micropowders with 10 wt% B were deposited onto microcrystalline titanium substrate by plasma alloying. As a result, modified surface layer composed of Ti matrix and TiB borides was obtained. The type of the powder precursor influenced recasting process, possible occurrence of porosity and finally the obtained properties and microstructure of the surface layer. Different morphologies and sizes of TiB phase from micro, submicro to even nano increased the hardness and wear resistance of the obtained surface layers. Discussed results referred to a strong TiB precipitation dispersion provided by a fine elements homogenization during mechanical alloying process. Additionally, results of in vitro test with normal human osteoblast cells revealed proper cellular adhesion to modified surfaces. Scanning electron microscopy observation revealed the influence of gas pore size on culturing osteoblast colony. The proposed surface alloying was an effective method of producing TiB phase dispersed in α-Ti matrix with high hardness, good corrosion resistance and good cytocompatibility. Results confirmed that different types of the precursor powders influenced the properties of the surface layer. TiB phase dispersed in α-Ti matrix layer can offer new structural and biofunctional properties for innovative products in hard tissue applications.

Size Dependent Physical Properties of Nanostructured α-Fe_2O_3 Thin Films Grown by Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction method for Antibacterial Application

Thin films of nanostructured α-FeOwith thickness of 1 56,203 and 251 nm were deposited by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction(SILAR) method onto glass substrates using FeCl-6HO and NaOH as cationic and anionic *** X-ray diffraction studies revealed that,α-FeOthin films are nanocrystalline in nature with rhombohedral *** morphological properties were investigated by field emission scanning electron and atomic force *** optical studies showed that α-FeOexhibits direct as well as indirect optical band gap *** electrical resistivity of α-FeOat 305 K decreases from 11.76×102 to9.46 × 10~2 Ω cm as film thickness increases from 156 to 251 *** thermo-emf measurements confirmed that α-FeOexhibits n-type *** nanocrystalline α-FeOexhibits antibacterial character against Staphylococcus aureus and its efficiency increases from 37.50%to 87.50%depending on crystallite size.

Diets enriched with finely ground wheat bran alter digesta passage rate and composition of the gut microbiome in sows

We investigated the effects of finely ground wheat bran on the nutrient digestibility, digesta passage rate,and gut microbiota structure in sows. A 3 × 3 Latin square design with 3 test periods and 3 experimental diets was used. Six non-pregnant sows(parity: 5 to 7) were randomly assigned to 3 experimental diets with 2 replicates per treatment in each period. Each period lasted 19 d(12 d for adaptation and 7 d for experiment). The experimental diets included(a) a basal corn and soybean meal diet(CON),(b) a basal diet with 20% coarse wheat bran(CWB;particle size: 605 μm), and(c) a basal diet with 20% fine wheat bran(FWB;particle size: 438 μm). The results demonstrated that the apparent total tract digestibility of neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and energy were reduced(P ups compared with those in the CON group. Viscosity of digesta increased(P m the mouth to the ileum decreased(P min of *** the FWB group, the relative abundance of Lactobacillaceae at the family level increased(P undance of Clostridia in feces decreased(P utyrate in feces compared with CON and CWB(P = 0.04). These results suggest that dietary supplementation with finely ground wheat bran reduces the passage rate of digesta, increases the abundance of beneficial microorganisms, and elevates the concentration of short-chain fatty acids and PYY in sows. These findings indicate that the addition of finelyground wheat bran to the diets of sows is more effective than using coarse wheat bran for improving their satiety and intestinal microbial composition.

为解决焙烧硅藻土(C-D)吸附性能较低的问题,以C-D为原料,mgCl_(2)和NaOH为前驱体,采用水热法制备了含镁沸石型焙烧硅藻土(mg-Z-C-D),并通过X射线衍射(XRD)、扫描电镜(SEm)、透射电镜(TEm)对其进行表征。结果表明,制备的mg-Z-C-D比表面积较高,为237.47 m^(2)/g,是C-D的273倍;其对亚甲基蓝(mB)的吸附量为125.46 mg/g,是原焙烧硅藻土的77倍。mg-Z-C-D对mB主要为单层吸附,化学吸附决定了吸附速率,颗粒内扩散过程是主要的速率控制过程。

Geochronology and mineralogy of the Weishan carbonatite in Shandong province, eastern China

The Weishan REE deposit is located at the eastern part of North China Craton(NCC), western Shandong Province. The REE-bearing carbonatite occur as veins associated with aegirine syenite. LA-ICP-mS bastnaesite Th-Pb ages(129 ma) of the Weishan carbonatite show that the carbonatite formed contemporary with the aegirine syenite. Based on the petrographic and geochemical characteristics of calcite, the REEbearing carbonatite mainly consists of Generation-1 igneous calcite(G-1 calcite) with a small amount of Generation-2 hydrothermal calcite(G-2 calcite). Furthermore, the Weishan apatite is characterized by high Sr, LREE and low Y contents, and the carbonatite is rich in Sr, Ba and LREE contents. The δ^(13)Cv-PDB(-6.5‰ to -7.9‰) and δ^(13)OV-SmOW(8.48‰-9.67‰) values are similar to those of primary, mantlederived carbonatites. The above research supports that the carbonatite of the Weishan REE deposit is igneous carbonatite. Besides, the high Sr/Y, Th/u, Sr and Ba of the apatite indicate that the magma source of the Weishan REE deposit was enriched lithospheric mantle, which have suffered the fluid metasomatism. Taken together with the mesozoic tectono-magmatic activities, the NW and NWW subduction of Izanagi plate along with lithosphere delamination and thinning of the North China plate support the formation of the Weishan REE deposit. Accordingly, the mineralization model of the Weishan REE deposit was concluded: The spatial-temporal relationships coupled with rare and trace element characteristics for both carbonatite and syenite suggest that the carbonatite melt was separated from the CO_2-rich silicate melt by liquid immiscibility. The G-1 calcites were crystallized from the carbonatite melt, which made the residual melt rich in rare earth elements. Due to the common origin of G-1 and G-2 calcites, the REE-rich magmatic hydrothermal was subsequently separated from the melt. LIN9 confers paclitaxel resistance in triple negative breast cancer cells by upregulating CCSAP

A parallel complex divider architecture based on DCD iterations for computing complex division in mVDR beamformer

This paper presents a hardware architecture using mixed pipeline and parallel processing for complex division based on dichotomous coordinate descent(DCD) iterations. The objective of the proposed work is to achieve low-latency and resource optimized complex divider architecture in adaptive weight computation stage of minimum variance distortionless response(mVDR)algorithm. In this work, computation of complex division is modeled as a 2×2 linear equation solution problem and the DCD algorithm allows linear systems of equations to be solved with high degree of computational efficiency. The operations in the existing DCD algorithm are suitably parallel pipelined and the performance is optimized to 2 clock cycles per iteration. To improve the degree of parallelism, a parallel column vector read architecture is *** proposed work is implemented on the field programmable gate array(FPGA) platform and the results are compared with state-of-art literature. It concludes that the proposed architecture is suitable for complex division in adaptive weight computation stage of mVDR beamformer. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed architecture for mVDR beamformer employed in medical ultrasound imaging applications.
