Corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)has exerted a profound adverse impact on human health.Studies have demonstrated that aerosol transmission is one of the major transmission routes of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Pathogenic microorganisms such as SARS-CoV-2 can survive in the air and cause widespread infection among people.Early monitoring of pathogenic microorganism transmission in the atmosphere and accurate epidemic prediction are the frontier guarantee for preventing large-scale epidemic outbreaks.Monitoring of pathogenic microorganisms in the air,especially in densely populated areas,may raise the possibility to detect viruses before people are widely infected and contain the epidemic at an earlier stage.The multi-scale coupled accurate epidemic prediction system can provide support for governments to analyze the epidemic situation,allocate health resources,and formulate epidemic response policies.This review first elaborates on the effects of the atmospheric environment on pathogenic microorganism transmission,which lays a theoretical foundation for the monitoring and prediction of epidemic development.Secondly,the monitoring technique development and the necessity of monitoring pathogenic microorganisms in the atmosphere are summarized and emphasized.Subsequently,this review introduces the major epidemic prediction methods and highlights the significance to realize a multi-scale coupled epidemic prediction system by strengthening the multidisciplinary cooperation of epidemiology,atmospheric sciences,environmental sciences,sociology,demography,etc.By summarizing the achievements and challenges in monitoring and prediction of pathogenic microorganism transmission in the atmosphere,this review proposes suggestions for epidemic response,namely,the establishment of an integrated monitoring and prediction platform for pathogenic microorganism transmission in the atmosphere.

An experimental investigation on the trailing edge cooling of turbine blades

An experimental study was conducted to quantify the flow characteristics of the wall jets pertinent to trailing edge cooling of turbine blades.A high-resolution stereoscopic particle image velocimetry(PIV)system was used to conduct detailed flow field measurements to quantitatively visualize the evolution of the unsteady vortices and turbulent flow structures in the cooling wall jet streams and to quantify the dynamic mixing process between the cooling jet stream and the mainstream flows.The detailed flow field measurements were correlated with the adiabatic cooling effectiveness maps measured by using pressure sensitive paint(PSP)technique to elucidate underlying physics in order to explore/optimize design paradigms for improved cooling effectiveness to protect the critical portions of turbine blades from harsh environments.

Isatis indigotica Fort.(Ban-Lan-Gen)is an herbal medicine prescribed for influenza treatment.However,its active components and mode of action remain mostly unknown.In the present study,erucic acid was isolated from Isatis indigotica Fort.,and subsequently its underlying mechanism against influenza A virus(IAV)infection was investigated in vitro and in vivo.Our results demonstrated that erucic acid exhibited broad-spectrum antiviral activity against IAV resulting from reduction of viral polymerase transcription activity.Erucic acid was found to exert inhibitory effects on IAV or viral(v)RNA-induced pro-inflam-matory mediators as well as interferons(IFNs).The molecular mechanism by which erucic acid with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties was attributed to inactivation of NF-kB and p38 MAPK signaling.Furthermore,the NF-kB and p38 MAPK inhibitory effect of erucic acid led to diminishing the transcriptional activity of interferon-stimulated gene factor 3(ISGF-3),and thereby reducing IAV-triggered pro-inflammatory response amplification in IFN-β-sensitized cells.Additionally,IAV-or vRNA-triggered apoptosis of alveolar epithelial A549 cells was prevented by erucic acid.In vivo,erucic acid administration consistently displayed decreased lung viral load and viral antigens expression.Meanwhile,erucic acid markedly reduced CD8+cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)recruitment,pro-apoptotic signaling,hyperactivity of multiple signaling pathways,and exacerbated immune inflammation in the lung,which resulted in decreased lung injury and mortality in mice with a mouse-adapted A/FM/1/47-MA(H1N1)strain infection.Our findings provided a mechanistic basis for the action of erucic acid against IAV-mediated inflammation and injury,suggesting that erucic acid may have a therapeutic potential in the treatment of influenza.

The SARS-C oV-2 B.1.617.2(Delta) variant flared up in late May in Guangzhou,China.Transmission characteristics of Delta variant were analysed for 153 confirmed cases and two complete transmission chains with seven generations were fully presented.A rapid transmission occurred in five generations within10 days.The basic reproduction number(R) was 3.60(95% confidence interval:2.50-5.30).After redefining the concept of close contact,the proportion of confirmed cases discovered from close contacts increased from 43% to 100%.With the usage of a yellow health code,the potential exposed individuals were self-motivated to take a nucleic acid test and regained public access with a negative testing result.Facing the massive requirement of screening,novel facilities like makeshift inflatable laboratories were promptly set up as a vital supplement and 17 cases were found,with 1 pre-symptomatic.The dynamic adjustment of these three interventions resulted in the decline of Rt from 5.00 to 1.00 within 9 days.By breaking the transmission chain and eliminating the transmission source through extending the scope of the close-contact tracing,health-code usage and mass testing,the Guangzhou D elta epidemic was effectively contained.

Dear Editor,Fan et al.have shown that whey protein,such as that found in human,bovine,and goat milk,could effectively inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection,but they did not identify the components in whey protein having this activity.1 Since p-lactoglobulin(P-LG)is the main component of whey protein,we herein tested the anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity of p-LG and 3-hydroxyphthalic anhydride(3HP)-modified P-LG(3HP-P-LG),an active component in anti-human papillomavirus(HPV)biological dressing(JB01-BD)that has been used in clinics since 2013 to block cervical infection of HPV.

为应对日益增长的微网群系统稳定性、经济性运行控制需求,提出了一种考虑并网和孤岛运行模式的微网群系统分布式控制方法。方法基于一致性算法实现微电网分布式分层控制,并考虑了微网群内各微网的协调控制。Simulink仿真结果表明,在负荷投切等情况发生时,工作在并网或孤岛模式的微电网群系统频率、电压波动在合理范围内,分布式电源始终按照等微增率原则分配出力。所提微电网群系统分布式控制方法能够维持微电网群的频率稳定和电压稳定,并通过分布式电源出力分配实现经济性目标。
