Martensite decomposition under thermal-mechanical coupling conditions to fabricate an ultrafine-grained Ti6Al4Mo4Zr1W0.2Si alloy

The fabrication of ultrafine-grained microstructures(grain size below 1μm)in titanium alloys is beneficial for improving their mechanical properties at room temperature and medium tempera-tures(400-550°C).However,a long-standing challenge involves the low-cost manufacturing of bulk ultrafine-grained titanium alloys.In this work,we developed a facile strategy through martensite de-composition at thermal-mechanical coupling conditions,to fabricate an equiaxed microstructure in a Ti6Al4Mo4Zr1W0.2Si model alloy with an averageαgrain size of 315±62 nm.The formation of the ultrafine-grained microstructure was because the lattice strain stored in the martensitic initial mi-crostructure enhanced the nucleation rate of dynamic recrystallization,meanwhile,the pinning role of martensite decomposition productsβand(Ti,Zr)_(5)Si_(3)phases suppressed grain coarsening at high tem-peratures.Compared to conventional(α+β)alloys,the tensile strength of this alloy improved by 20%-30%at both room temperature and 550°C,without decreasing its ductility.In situ SEM observations revealed that the ultrafine-grained microstructure would not only suppress dislocation motions but also contribute to the homogenous deformation in the matrix of the material,therefore,it resulted in higher mechanical performance.The research results may be of great significance to the development of next-generation aviation titanium alloys.

The interaction between cluster of differentiation 47(CD47)and signal regulatory proteinα(SiRPa)protects healthy cells from macrophage attack,which is crucial for maintain-ing immune homeostasis.Overexpression of CD47 occurs widely across various tumor cell types and transmits the"don't eat me"signal to macrophages to avoid phagocytosis through binding to SIRPa.Blockade of the CD47-SIRPa axis is therefore a promising approach for cancer treat-ment.Lymphoma is the most common hematological malignancy and is an area of unmet clin-ical need.This review mainly described the current strategies targeting the CD47-SIRPa axis,including antibodies,SiRPaFc fusion proteins,small molecule inhibitors,and peptides both in preclinical studies and clinical trials with Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Manipulating Na occupation and constructing protective film of P2-Na_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)Mn_(0.67)O_(2) as long-term cycle stability cathode for sodium-ion batteries

P2-Na_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)Mn_(0.67)O_(2)(NNMO)is promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)due to its high specific capacity and fast Na+diffusion rate.Nonetheless,the irreversible P2-O_(2)phase transformation,Na+/vacancy ordering,and transition metal(TM)dissolution seriously damage its cycling stability and restrict its commercialization process.Herein,Na occupation manipulation and interface stabilization are proposed to strengthen the phase structure of NNMO by synergistic Zn/Ti co-doping and introducing lithium difluorophosp(LiPO_(2)F_(2))film-forming electrolyte additive.The Zn/Ti co-doping regulates the occupancy ratio of Nae/Nafat Na sites and disorganizes the Na+/vacancy ordering,resulting in a faster Na+diffusion kinetics and reversible P2-Z phase transition for P2-Na_(0.67)Ni_(0.28)Zn_(0.05)Mn_(0.62)Ti_(0.05)O_(2)(NNZMTO).Meanwhile,the LiPO_(2)F_(2)additive can form homogeneous and ultrathin cathode-electrolyte interphase(CEI)on NNZMTO surface,which can stabilize the NNZMTO-electrolyte interface to prevent TM dissolution,surface structure transformation,and micro-crack generation.Combination studies of in situ and ex situ characterizations and theoretical calculations were used to elucidate the storage mechanism of NNZMTO with Li PO_(2)F_(2)additive.As a result,the NNZMTO displays outstanding capacity retention of 94.44%after 500 cycles at 1C with 0.3 wt%Li PO_(2)F_(2),excellent rate performance of 92.5 mA h g^(-1)at 8C with 0.1 wt%Li PO_(2)F_(2),and remarkable full cell capability.This work highlights the important role of manipulating Na occupation and constructing protective film in the design of layered materials,which provides a promising direction for developing high-performance cathodes for SIBs.

Seasonal variations of microbial community and antibiotic resistome in a suburb drinking water distribution system in a northern Chinese city

Antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)are an emerging issue for drinkingwater safety.However,the seasonal variation of ARGs in drinking water distribution systems(DWDS)is still unclear.This work revealed the tempo-spatial changes of microbial community,ARGs,mobile genetic elements(MGEs)co-occurring with ARGs,ARG hosts in DWDS bulk water by means of metagenome assembly.The microbial community and antibiotic resistome varied with sampling season and site.Temperature,ammonia,chlorite and total plate count(TPC)drove the variations of microbial community structure.Moreover,environmental parameters(total organic carbon(TOC),chlorite,TPC and hardness)shifted antibiotic resistome.ARGs and MGEs co-occurring with ARGs showed higher relative abundance in summer and autumn,which might be attributed to detached pipe biofilm.In particular,ARG-bacitracin and plasmid were the predominant ARG and MGE,respectively.ARG hosts changed with season and site and were more diverse in summer and autumn.In winter and spring,Limnohabitans and Mycobacterium were the major ARG hosts as well as the dominant genera in microbial community.In addition,in summer and autumn,high relative abundance of Achromobacter and Stenotrophomonas were the hosts harboring many kinds of ARGs and MGEs at site in a residential zone(0.4 km from the water treatment plant).Compared with MGEs,microbial community had a greater contribution to the variation of antibiotic resistome.This work gives new insights into the dynamics of ARGs in full-scale DWDS and the underlying factors.

MoS2-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries:Developments and perspectives

In recent years,significant progress has been achieved in the creation of innovative functional materials for energy storage and conversion.Due to their distinct physicochemical characteristics,ultrathin nanosheets composed of common layered transition metal sulfide materials(MoS2)have demonstrated promise as high-capacity anode materials for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Nevertheless,their practical application is severely limited by the tendency of monolayer nanosheets to restack due to strong van der Waals forces,dramatic volume changes during successive cycles,and low intrinsic conductivity.Recent research advances have shown that composite structures and nanowire morphologies with specific morphologies effectively overcome these issues.This paper reviews the recent research progress on molybdenum disulfide-based composites as anode materials for LIBs and discusses in detail the struc-tural characteristics of pure molybdenum disulfide and other composite forms of molybdenum disulfide.In addition,the phase engineering,defect engineering,and lithium storage mechanisms of molybdenum disulfide and the synthesis of molybdenum disulfide-based nanocomposites by different preparation methods are focused on.Finally,we review the design(structure),recent developments,and challenges of novel anode materials and consider their electrochemical performance in Li-ion batteries.

Uncertainty quantification of inverse analysis for geomaterials using probabilistic programming

Uncertainty is an essentially challenging for safe construction and long-term stability of geotechnical engineering.The inverse analysis is commonly utilized to determine the physico-mechanical parameters.However,conventional inverse analysis cannot deal with uncertainty in geotechnical and geological systems.In this study,a framework was developed to evaluate and quantify uncertainty in inverse analysis based on the reduced-order model(ROM)and probabilistic programming.The ROM was utilized to capture the mechanical and deformation properties of surrounding rock mass in geomechanical problems.Probabilistic programming was employed to evaluate uncertainty during construction in geotechnical engineering.A circular tunnel was then used to illustrate the proposed framework using analytical and numerical solution.The results show that the geomechanical parameters and associated uncertainty can be properly obtained and the proposed framework can capture the mechanical behaviors under uncertainty.Then,a slope case was employed to demonstrate the performance of the developed framework.The results prove that the proposed framework provides a scientific,feasible,and effective tool to characterize the properties and physical mechanism of geomaterials under uncertainty in geotechnical engineering problems.

Effect of Nozzle Inclination Angle on Fuel-Air Mixing and Combustion in a Heavy Fuel Engine

Heavy-fuel engines are widely used in UAVs(Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles)because of their reliability and high-power density.In this study,a combustion model for an in-cylinder direct injection engine has been imple-mented using the AVL FIRE software.The effects of the angle of nozzle inclination on fuel evaporation,mixture distribution,and combustion in the engine cylinder have been systematically studied at 5500 r/min and consider-ing full load cruise conditions.According to the results,as the angle of nozzle inclination increases,the maximum combustion explosion pressure in the cylinderﬁrst increases and then it decreases.When the angle of nozzle incli-nation is less than 45°,the quality of the mixture in the cylinder and the combustion performance can be improved by increasing the angle.When the angle of nozzle inclination is greater than 45°,however,the mixture unevenness increases slightly with the angle,leading to a deterioration of the combustion performances.When the angle of nozzle inclination is between 35°and 55°,the overall combustion performance of the engine is rela-tively good.When the angle of nozzle inclination is 45°,the combustion chamber’s geometry and the cylinder’s airﬂow are well matched with the fuel spray,and the mixture quality is the best.Compared with 25°,the peak heat release rate increases by 20%,and the maximum combustion burst pressure increases by 5.5%.

Hemin-functionalized polypyrrole/paper-derived biochar electrocatalysts:Enhanced sensor platforms for H2O2

As a H2O2electrochemical biomimetic enzyme sensor,the stability,repeatability and sensitivity of hemin-based composites are closely connected with the loading of hemin on high-performance matrix.Herein,polypyrrole/paper-derived carbon（PPy/PC） nanocomposite was used for the construction of a hemin-based non-enzymatic sensor to detect H2O2.Where the poplar wood is used to obtain crude cellulose through a straightforward papermaking process.This crude cellulose is then subjected to pyrolysis to yield the desired paper-based carbon material.The hemin-decorated PPy/PC was demonstrated possessing remarkable electrocatalytic activity for H2O2reduction,and the possible mechanism of the reactions was discussed.The electrochemical sensor,utilizing the HPPy/PC composite,achieved a low detection limit of 30 nM,along with enhanced selectivity and stability under optimized conditions.The favorable results observed can primarily be attributed to the superior electrochemical performance of PPy/PC,as well as its unique 3D interconnected structure.This structure effectively impedes the self-dimerization of hemin,thereby ensuring the generation of active catalytic species.

Molecular ecological networks reveal the spatial-temporal variation of microbial communities in drinking water distribution systems

Microbial activity and regrowth in drinking water distribution systems is a major concern for water service companies.However,previous studies have focused on the microbial composition and diversity of the drinkingwater distribution systems(DWDSs),with little discussion on microbial molecular ecological networks(MENs)in different water supply networks.MEN analysis explores the potentialmicrobial interaction and the impact of environmental stress,to explain the characteristics of microbial community structures.In this study,the random matrix theory-based network analysis was employed to investigate the impact of seasonal variation including water source switching on the networks of three DWDSs that used different disinfection methods.The results showed that microbial interaction varied slightly with the seasons but was significantly influenced by different DWDSs.Proteobacteria,identified as key species,play an important role in the network.Combined UV-chlorine disinfection can effectively reduce the size and complexity of the network compared to chlorine disinfection alone,ignoring seasonal variations,which may affect microbial activity or control microbial regrowth in DWDSs.This study provides new insights for analyzing the dynamics of microbial interactions in DWDSs.

Amorphous vanadium oxides for electrochemical energy storage

Vanadium oxides have attracted extensive interest as electrode materials for many electrochemical energy storage devices owing to the features of abundant reserves,low cost,and variable valence.Based on the in-depth understanding of the energy storage mechanisms and reasonable design strategies,the performances of vanadium oxides as electrodes for batteries have been significantly optimized.Compared to crystalline vanadium oxides,amorphous vanadium oxides(AVOs)show many unique properties,including large specific surface area,excellent electrochemical stability,lots of defects and active sites,fast ion kinetics,and high elasticity.This review gives a comprehensive overview of the recent progress on AVOs for different energy storage systems,such as alkali metal ion batteries,multivalent ion batteries,and supercapacitors with a special focus on the preparation strategies.The basic mechanisms for energy storage performance improvements of AVOs as compared to their crystalline counterparts are also introduced.Finally,challenges faced by AVOs are discussed and future development prospects are also proposed.This review aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge of AVOs and is expected to promote the development of high-performance electrodes for batteries.
