Effect of initial microstructure on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of 0.12C martensitic steels during quenching and tempering

The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a Fe-0.12C-0.2Si-1.6Mn-0.3Cr-0.0025B(wt.%)steel with different initial microstructures,i.e.,hot rolled(HR)and cold rolled-annealed(CRA),were studied through optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,electron channeling contrast imaging,microhardness and room temperature uniaxial tensile *** water quenching from 930℃ to room temperature,a fully martensitic microstructure was obtained in both as-quenched HR and CRA specimens,which shows a microhardness of 480±5 HV,and no significant difference in microstructure and microhardness was *** test results show that the product of tensile strength and total elongation(UTS×TE)of the as-quenched HR specimen,i.e.,24.1 GPa%,is higher than that of the as-quenched CRA specimen,i.e.,18.9 GPa%.While,after being tempered at 300℃,the martensitic microstructures and mechanical properties of the two as-quenched specimens change significantly due to the synergy role of the matrix phase softening and the precipitation *** the maximum UTS×TE,it is 18.9 GPa%obtained in the as-quenched CRA one,while that is 24.4 GPa%obtained in the HR specimen after tempered at 300℃ for 5 min.

The performance of welded Ni-based superalloys at high temperatures is essential to be evaluated due to their particular service environment for aero-engines and high-speed *** tensile properties and related microstructural evolutions such as the carbide precipitate and grain of a laser-welded Ni-based alloy were experimentally and numerically investigated at different temperatures(20,300,500,800℃).The results show that at room temperature,the strength of the Base Material(BM)was slightly smaller,with a difference of less than 1%,than the Welded Material(WM),which can be attributed to the more uniformly distributed needle-shaped carbide precipitates in the WM than those nonuniformly coarser spherical ones in the *** at 300℃ and 500℃,the strength of WM decreased more obviously compared with that of BM due to the more apparent growth of grain:13.52%loss in yield strength in WM alloys as compared with BM alloys at 300℃,and 16.57% at 500℃.At 800℃,the strength of BM and WM both decreased to a similar level due to Dynamic Recrystallization(DRX).However,a much higher elongation was observed for the BM than WM(less than 50%of BM),which can be attributed to the enhanced dislocation accumulation capability of the large spherical carbides along grain boundaries on the fracture surface in ***,a unified model considering the welding effects on both microstructures(dislocation,carbides,and grain)and mechanical properties evolutions at different temperatures was developed and *** on this model,the key temperature ranges(20–600℃)where apparent weakening of strength and uniform plasticity occurs for welded structures were identified,providing a direct guidance for potential structure and process design.

Viscosity and structure relationship with equimolar substitution of CaO with MgO in the CaO–MgO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)slag melts

Currently,the Al_(2)O_(3)content in the high-alumina slag systems within blast furnaces is generally limited to 16wt%–18.5wt%,making it challenging to overcome this *** most studies that concentrated on managing the MgO/Al_(2)O_(3)ratio or basicity,this paper explored the effect of equimolar substitution of MgO for CaO on the viscosity and structure of a high-alumina CaO-MgO-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)slag system,providing theoretical guidance and data to facilitate the application of high-alumina *** results revealed that the viscosity first decreased and then increased with higher MgO substitution,reaching a minimum at 15mol%MgO *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)results found that the depths of the troughs representing[SiO_(4)]tetrahedra,[AlO_(4)]tetrahedra,and Si-O-Al bending became progressively deeper with increased MgO *** of the Raman spectra showed that the average number of bridging oxygens per Si atom and the X_(Q^(3))/X_(Q^(2))(X_(Q^(i))is the molar fraction of Q^(i) unit,and i is the number of bridging oxygens in a[SiO_(4)]tetrahedral unit)ratio increased from 2.30 and 1.02 to 2.52 and 2.14,respectively,indicating a progressive polymerization of the silicate structure.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results highlighted that non-bridging oxygen content decreased from 77.97mol% to 63.41mol% with increasing MgO concentration,whereas bridging oxygen and free oxygen contents *** analysis demonstrated a gradual increase in the polymerization degree of the tetrahedral structure with the increase in MgO ***,bond strength is another important factor affecting the slag *** occurrence of a viscosity minimum can be attributed to the complex evolution of bond strengths of non-bridging oxygens generated during depolymerization of the[SiO_(4)]and[AlO_(4)]tetrahedral structures by CaO and MgO.

Development and verification of the higher-order mode neutron flux calculation code HARMONY2.0

Higher-order modes of the neutron diffusion/transport equation can be used to study the temporal behavior of nuclear reactors and can be applied in modal analysis, transient analysis, and online monitoring of the reactor core. Both the deterministic method and the Monte Carlo(MC) method can be used to solve the higher-order modes. However, MC method, compared to the deterministic method, faces challenges in terms of computational efficiency and α mode calculation stability, whereas the deterministic method encounters issues arising from homogenization-related geometric and energy spectra *** on the higher-order mode diffusion calculation code HARMONY, we developed a new higher-order mode calculation code, HARMONY2.0, which retains the functionality of computing λ and α higher-order modes from HARMONY1.0, but enhances the ability to treat complex geometries and arbitrary energy spectra using the MC-deterministic hybrid two-step strategy. In HARMONY2.0, the mesh homogenized multigroup constants were obtained using OpenMC in the first step,and higher-order modes were then calculated with the mesh homogenized core diffusion model using the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method(IRAM), which was also adopted in the HARMONY1.0 code. In addition, to improve the calculation efficiency, particularly in large higher-order modes, event-driven parallelization/domain decomposition methods are embedded in the HARMONY2.0 code to accelerate the inner iteration of λ∕α mode using OpenMP. Furthermore, the higher-order modes of complex geometric models, such as Hoogenboom and ATR reactors for λ mode and the MUSE-4 experiment facility for the prompt α mode, were computed using diffusion theory.

As modern communication and detection technologies advance at a swift pace,multifunctional electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials with active/positive infrared stealth,hydrophobicity,and electric-thermal conversion ability have received extensive *** the aforesaid requirements simultaneously remains a huge *** this research,the melamine foam(MF)/polypyrrole(PPy)nanowire arrays(MF@PPy)were fabricated via one-step electrochemical *** hierarchical MF@PPy foam was composed of three-dimensional PPy micro-skeleton and ordered PPy nanowire *** to the upwardly grown PPy nanowire arrays,the MF@PPy foam possessed good hydrophobicity ability with a water contact angle of 142.00°and outstanding stability under various harsh ***,the MF@PPy foam showed excellent thermal insulation property on account of the low thermal conductivity and elongated ligament characteristic of PPy nanowire ***,taking advantage of the high conductivity(128.2 S m^(-1)),the MF@PPy foam exhibited rapid Joule heating under 3 V,resulting in dynamic infrared stealth and thermal camouflage *** importantly,the MF@PPy foam exhibited remarkable EMI shielding effectiveness values of 55.77 dB and 19,928.57 dB cm^(2)g^(-1).Strong EMI shielding was put down to the hierarchically porous PPy structure,which offered outstanding impedance matching,conduction loss,and multiple *** innovative approach provides significant insights to the development of advanced multifunctional EMI shielding foams by constructing PPy nanowire arrays,showing great applications in both military and civilian fields.

High strength steels exhibit superior mechanical properties due to the unique microstructure,which successfully solves the drawback of the inevitable strength-toughness trade-off that occurs in traditional *** we investigated the effect of matrix and precipitates on mechanical properties of Cr-Ni-Mo-V/Nb steel after water quenching and tempering(150-500℃).The results showed that the microstructure of the present steel is noticeably tuned by changing the tempering *** excellent combination of strength(a yield strength of 1308 MPa with a total elongation of 8.2%)and toughness(Charpy V-notch impact toughness of 40.5 J/cm^(2))is obtained upon tempering at 200℃.This is attributed to the lath martensite containing high dislocation density,the martensite-twin substructure,and the strengthening effects of the precipitated needle-likeε-carbides and spherical VC *** acicularε-carbides are replaced by the rod-shaped Fe_(3)C at the tempering temperature of 350℃,resulting in the remarkable deterioration in strength,hardness,and *** carbides formed at a tempering temperature of 500℃ are beneficial to the enhancement of the elongation and toughness,but the strength decreases due to the matrix softening caused by the recovery of dislocation.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are emerging as a promising alternative for large-scale energy storage,particularly in grid *** the array of potential cathode materials,Fe/Mn-based layered oxides are notable for their advantageous theoretical specific capacity,economic viability,and environmental ***,the practical application of Fe/Mn-based layered oxides is constrained by their suboptimal cycle performance and rate capability during actual charging and *** doping is an effective approach for addressing the aforementioned *** this context,we have successfully developed a novel K^(+) and Mg^(2+) codoped P2-Na_(0.7)Fe_(0.5)Mn_(0.5)O_(2) cathode to address these *** doping with 0.05 K^(+) and 0.2 Mg^(2+),the cathode demonstrated excellent cycling stability,retaining 95% of its capacity after 50 cycles at 0.2C,whereas the undoped material retained only 59.7%.Even within a wider voltage range,the co-doped cathode retained 88% of its capacity after 100 cycles at *** work integrated Mg^(2+) to activate oxygen redox reactions in Fe/Mn-based layered cathodes,thereby promoting a reversible hybrid redox process involving both anions and *** on the Mg doping,larger K^(+) ions were introduced into the edge-sharing Na^(+) sites,enhancing the material's cyclic stability and expanding the interplanar *** significant improvement of Na^(+) diffusion coefficient by K^(+)/Mg^(2+) co-doping has been further confirmed via the galvanostatic intermittent titration technique(GITT).The study emphasizes the importance of co-doping with different coordination environments in future material design,aiming to achieve high operating voltage and energy density.

Multivariate synergy for heightening ionic HOF robustness and proton conductivity

Multicomponent crystalline materials construct more complex and diversified structures with different combinations and modes,which expands the material structure space and application *** this work,we have successfully synthesized two twocomponent ionic hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks （iHOF-32 and iHOF-33） and a three-component iHOF （iHOF-34）.Guanidine hydrochloride which is rich in N and H and has a short chain length strengthens the hydrogen bonding network of iHOF,thereby aiding in the efficient migration of *** rigid architecture of 1,1'-diamino-4,4'-bipyridine diiodide furnishes additional scaffolding for the iHOFs and enhances its robustness under harsh ***-34 accomplishes the combination of the ultra-high proton conductivity of iHOF-32 and the robustness of iHOF-33 by the synergistic interaction among the three components of *** addition,iHOF-34 was fabricated as a composite membrane with a peak proton conductivity of 1.55×10-1S cm-1,which is 3.8 times higher than that of recast Nafion,and has extensive potential in fuel *** self-assembly strategy of multicomponent HOFs opens up new avenues for constructing diverse structures while promising new opportunities for applications in the fields of proton conduction and energy storage.

Important role of lymphovascular and perineural invasion in prognosis of colorectal cancer patients with N1c disease

BACKGROUND Lymphovascular invasion(LVI)and perineural invasion(PNI)are associated with decreased survival in colorectal cancer(CRC),but its significance in N1c stage remains to be clearly *** We retrospectively identified 107 consecutive patients who had CRC with N1c disease radically resected at our *** were reviewed for LVI and PNI by one pathologist blinded to the patients’***-free survival(DFS),overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)were determined using the Kaplan-Meier method,with LVI and PNI prognosis differences determined by multivariate analysis using the Cox multiple hazards *** were compared using log-rank *** receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the prognostic predictive *** The median follow-up time was 63.17(45.33-81.37)months for DFS,with 33.64%(36/107)of patients experiencing recurrence;21.5%of tumors were found to be LVI positive and 44.9%PNI *** 5-year DFS rate was greater for patients with LVI-negative tumors compared with LVI-positive tumors(74.0%vs 35.6%),and PNI was similar(82.5%vs 45.1%).On multivariate analysis,LVI[hazard ratio(HR)=3.368,95%confidence interval(CI):1.628-6.966,P=0.001]and PNI(HR=3.055,95%CI:1.478-6.313,P=0.002)were independent prognostic factors for *** patients could be divided into three groups of patients with different prognosis according to LVI and *** 5-year ROC curve for LVI,PNI and their combination prediction of DFS was 0.646,0.709 and 0.759,*** results were seen for OS and *** LVI and PNI could serve as independent prognostic factors of outcomes in N1c CRC *** with LVI or PNI should be given more attention during treatment.
