To investigate the synergistic effects of 3′-azido-3′- deoxythymidine （AZT） and FA-2-b-β extracted from Ling Jin mushroom on apoptosis of gastric cancer cells MKN45 in vitro. METHODS： Ml-I- analysis was made to examine the inhibition rate of MKN45 cells treated with AZT （2.5, 5, 10 and 20 mg/L） and FA-2-b-13 （5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/L） singly and combinatively for 24, 48 and 72 h. Apoptotic effects were evaluated by morphological methods, DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry, respectively. Telomerase activity was estimated by TRAP- ELISA. The mRNA expression of caspase-3 and Bcl-2 were detected by RT-PCR. RESULTS： AZT and FA-2-b-13 could significantly inhibit MKN45 cell proliferation and induce its apoptosis. MKN45 cells were inhibited in dose- and time- dependent manner. The inhibition effect of AZT combined with FA-2- b-β was obviously better than that used singly （0.469 ＋ 0.022 vs 1.075 4- 0.055, P 〈 0.05, 0.325 4- 0.029 vs 0.469 ＋ 0.022 P 〈 0.01）. AZT used singly and combination of FA-2-b-β could decrease the activity of tumor cell telomerase, and AZT has synergistic function with FA- 2-b-β. A certain concentration of AZT could up-regulate the expression of caspase-3 mRNA （r = 0.9969, P 〈 0.01）, which was positively related to apoptosis rate, and could down-regulate the expression of Bcl-2 mRNA, which was negatively related to apoptosis rate （r = 0.926, P 〈 0.01）. Furthermore, the effect of AZT combined with FA-2-b-13 was significantly higher than that used singly. CONCLUSION： Combination of AZT and FA-2-b-β has an obviously synergetic effect in the gastric cancer cells MKN45, which has provided a new approach to the treatment of gastric cancer clinically.

Iron-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with higher theoretical capacity,natural abundance and cheapness have received considerable attention,but they still suffer from the fast capacity *** address this issue,we report a facile synthesis of plate-like carbonsupported Fe_(3)C nanoparticles through chemical blowing/carbonization under *** ultrafine Fe_(3)C nanoparticles are prone to be oxidized when exposing in air;thus,Fe_(3)C/C with mild oxidization and the fully oxidized product of Fe_(2)O_(3)/C are successfully prepared by controlling the oxidization *** applied as an anode material in LIB,the Fe_(3)C/C electrode demonstrates excellent cycle stability(826 mAh·g^(-1)after 120 cycles under 500 mA·g^(-1))and rate performance(410.6 mAh·g^(-1) under 2 A·g^(-1)),compared with the Fe_(2)O_(3)/C *** enhanced electrochemical performance can be ascribed to the synergetic effect of the Fe_(3)C with mild oxidation and the unique hierarchical structure of plate-like carbon decorated with Fe_(3)C *** importantly,this work may offer new approaches to synthesize other transition metal(e.g.,Co,Ni)-based anode material by replacing the precursor ingredient.

Mechanisms of electron transfer of carbazole （CZ） and 9-ethylcarbazole （ECZ） were studied by electrochemistry and in-situ spectroelectrochemistry. The result indicated that the electrochemical reaction mechanism of ECZ was the same as that of CZ. Both of them undergo ECE process： the initial step is removal of one electron to generate very reactive cation radical, this species then proceeded by deprotonation-coupling reaction to form the corresponding dimer, which was oxidized continuously.

Compared to other crops,maize production demands relatively high ***,temperatures exceeding 35℃lead to adverse effects on maize *** temperatures(≥35℃)are consistently experienced by summer maize during its reproductive growth stage in the North China Plain,which is likely to cause irreversible crop *** study investigated the effects of elevating temperature(ET)treatment on the yield component of summer maize,beginning at the 9th unfolding leaf stage and ending at the tasseling *** demonstrated that continuous ET led to a decrease in the elongation rate and activity of silks and an elongated interval between anthesis and silking stages,and eventually decreased grain number at ear tip and reduced *** continuous ET before tasseling damaged the anther structure,reduced pollen activity,delayed the start of the pollen shedding stage,and shortened the pollen shedding time,it was inferred,based on phenotypical and physiological traits,that continuous ET after the 9th unfolding leaf stage influenced ears and therefore may have more significant ***,when maize plants were exposed to ET treatment in the ear reproductive development stage,the growth of ears and tassels was blocked,which increased the occurrence of barren ear tips and led to large yield losses.

Reducing a Pt loading with improved power output and durability is essential to promote the large-scale application of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).To achieve this goal,constructing optimized structure of catalyst layers with efficient mass transportation channels plays a vital ***,PEMFCs with order-structured cathodic electrodes were fabricated by depositing Pt nanoparticles by Ebeam onto vertically aligned carbon nanotubes(VACNTs)growth on Al foil via plasma-enhanced chemical vapor *** demonstrate that the proportion of hydrophilic Pt-deposited region along VACNTs and residual hydrophobic region of VANCTs without Pt strongly influences the cell performance,in particular at high current *** Pt nanoparticles deposit on the top depth of around 600 nm on VACNTs with a length of 4.6μm,the cell shows the highest performance,compared with others with various lengths of *** delivers a maximum power output of 1.61 W cm^(-2)(H_(2)/O_(2),150 k Pa)and 0.79 W cm^(-2)(H_(2)/Air,150 k Pa)at Pt loading of 50μg cm^(-2),exceeding most of previously reported PEMFCs with Pt loading ofdered hydrophobic region providing sufficient mass passages to facilitate the fast water drainage at high current *** work gives a new understanding for oxygen reduction reaction occurred in VACNTs-based ordered electrodes,demonstrating the most possibility to achieve a substantial reduction in Pt loading<100μg cm^(-2) without sacrificing in performance.

The objective of this study was to determine the role of SLC15A4 in the muramyl dipeptide(MDP)-mediated inflammatory response of bovine rumen epithelial cells(BRECs).First,changes in the m RNA expression of proinflammatory factor genes in BRECs following 10μg m L^(–1)MDP treatments were ***-q PCR results showed that the expression of pro-inflammatory factor(IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-α)m RNAs were significantly increased under MDP stimulation(Pder to gain further insight into the potential function of SLC15A4,we utilized transcriptome data,which revealed a change in the genes between WT-BRECs and *** down-regulated pro-inflammatory genes and 13 down-regulated chemokine genes related to the inflammatory response were ***,the down-regulated genes were mostly enriched in the nuclear factorκB(NF-κB)and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling *** results of RT-q PCR also verified these detected *** further determine the mechanism of how WT and SLC15A4-KO BRECs are involved in inflammatory responses,we investigated the inflammatory responses of cells exposed to ***-BRECs and SLC15A4-KO were treated with a culture medium containing 10μg m L^(–1)MDP,in comparison to a control without *** results show that SLC15A4-KO BRECs had reduced the expression of genes(IL-6,TNF-α,CXCL2,CXCL3,CXCL9,and CCL2)and proteins(p-p65 and p-p44/42)from the MDP-mediated inflammatory response compared to WT-BRECs(Pde transporter SLC15A4,and its role was confirmed via the MDP-induced inflammatory response in *** work will provide a theoretical basis for studying the pro-inflammatory mechanism of MDP and its application in the prevention and treatment of subacute rumen acidosis in dairy cows.

OBJECTIVE： To summarize the development of electroacupuncture stimulation in the treatment of stroke-induced limb spasm, to provide research possibilities or clinical development, and to clarify the mechanism and therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture stimulation. DATA SOURCES： Articles relating to therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture stimulation on treatment of stroke-induced limb spasm, as well as clinical studies （which are not limited to age, sex and race）, were retrieved from the China Journal Fulltext Database from January 2000 to december 2007. The key words were stroke, apoplexy, spasm, and electroacupuncture in Chinese. Other articles were obtained from specific journals or books. STUDY SELECTION： Data were first selected by title and abstract. Clinical and rehabilitative studies relating to the effects of electroacupuncture and acupuncture on the treatment of stroke-induced limb spasm were included. Clinical studies related to the rehabilitative treatment of limb spasm were excluded, unless the effects of electroacupuncture stimulation were recorded. DATA EXTRACTION： A total of 338 references were collected; however, 295 of these were excluded. Therefore, 43 articles were analyzed, comprising 40 in Chinese and 3 in English. DATA SYNTHESIS： At present, acupuncture is widely used at home to treat stroke-induced limb spasm; however, acupuncture at different acupoints might cause different clinical effects. Electroacupuncture, which is characterized by analgesia and relief of spasm, can preclude inflammatory edema, improve blood circulation and blood viscosity, inhibit platelet aggregation and adherence, relieve formation of atheromatous plaque in tunica intima of artery, and resist cerebral anoxia, so as to relieve stroke-induced limb spasm. Meanwhile, electroacupuncture combined with rehabilitation can effectively decrease the degree of spasm and improve motor function.
