Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies by the Gaussian process of machine learning

Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies are crucial for advancing the research of nuclear physics. Machine learning provides an innovative approach to exploring complex physical problems. In this study, the nuclear binding energies are modeled directly using a machine-learning method called the Gaussian process. First, the binding energies for 2238 nuclei with Z > 20 and n > 20 are calculated using the Gaussian process in a physically motivated feature space, yielding an average deviation of 0.046 MeV and a standard deviation of 0.066 MeV. The results show the good learning ability of the Gaussian process in the studies of binding energies. Then, the predictive power of the Gaussian process is studied by calculating the binding energies for 108 nuclei newly included in AME2020. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental data, reflecting the good predictive power of the Gaussian process. Moreover, the α-decay energies for 1169 nuclei with 50 ≤ Z ≤ 110 are derived from the theoretical binding energies calculated using the Gaussian process. The average deviation and the standard deviation are, respectively, 0.047 MeV and 0.070 MeV. noticeably, the calculated α-decay energies for the two new isotopes ^ (204 )Ac(Huang et al. Phys lett B 834, 137484(2022)) and ^ (207) Th(Yang et al. Phys Rev C 105, l051302(2022)) agree well with the latest experimental data. These results demonstrate that the Gaussian process is reliable for the calculations of nuclear binding energies. Finally, the α-decay properties of some unknown actinide nuclei are predicted using the Gaussian process. The predicted results can be useful guides for future research on binding energies and α-decay properties.

Whether the complex game system composed of a large number of artificial intelligence(AI)agents empowered with reinforcement learning can produce extremely favorable collective behaviors just through the way of agent self-exploration is a matter of practical *** this paper,we address this question by combining the typical theoretical model of resource allocation system,the minority game model,with reinforcement *** individual participating in the game is set to have a certain degree of intelligence based on reinforcement learning *** particular,we demonstrate that as AI agents gradually becomes familiar with the unknown environment and tries to provide optimal actions to maximize payoff,the whole system continues to approach the optimal state under certain parameter combinations,herding is effectively suppressed by an oscillating collective behavior which is a self-organizing pattern without any external *** interesting phenomenon is that a first-order phase transition is revealed based on some numerical results in our multi-agents system with reinforcement *** order to further understand the dynamic behavior of agent learning,we define and analyze the conversion path of belief mode,and find that the self-organizing condensation of belief modes appeared for the given trial and error rates in the AI ***,we provide a detection method for period-two oscillation collective pattern emergence based on the Kullback–leibler divergence and give the parameter position where the period-two appears.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the l.ngmuir method and first-principle density functional theory(DFT).Using the l.ngmuir-Schaefer(lS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the l.ngmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the lS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHnS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DFT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PABA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Background Stable carbon isotope composition(δ13Cp) can be used to estimate the changes in intrinsic water use efficiency（iWUE） in pl.nts,which helps us to better understand pl.nts' response strategies to climate *** study focused on the variations in δ13Cpand iWUE for the different life-form pl.nts（i.e.,herbs,shrubs,and trees）al.ng an altitudinal gradient（3300,3600,3900,4100,4300,and 4500 m） on the eastern slope of Yul.ng Snow Mountain,southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet *** response mechanisms of δ13Cpand iWUE for different life-form pl.nts to altitude were thoroughly analyzed in this mountain *** The δ13Cpvalues of pl.nts on the eastern slopes of Yul.ng Snow Mountain ranged from-30.4‰to-26.55‰,with a mean of-28.02‰,indicating a dominance of *** δ13Cpand iWUE values varied among different life-form pl.nts in the order of herbs> shrubs> trees,particularly in 3600,3900,and 4300 ***δ13Cpand iWUE values for herbs and shrubs increased with altitude and were mainly controlled by air *** two parameters for trees exhibited a trend of initial decrease followed by an increase with *** 3900 m,the δ13Cpand iWUE values decreased with altitude,influenced by soil ***,above 3900 m,the two parameters increased with altitude,mainly regulated by air *** addition,iWUE was positively correlated with leaf P content but negatively correlated with leaf n:P ratio,especially for herbs and trees,suggesting that P plays a key role in modulating iWUE in this *** The diffe rentiated responses of water availability for different life-form pl.nts to a higher altitudinal gradient are regulated by air temperature,soil moisture,and leaf P content in the Yul.ng Snow *** results provide valuable insights into understanding the wate r-carbon relationships in high-altitude ecosystems.

Zeolite imidazole skeleton(ziF-8)is a promising option for self-cleaning of building exterior walls due to its large specific surface area,high antibacterial activity and low ***,it suffers from low antibacterial efficiency and yield under visible light *** address the issues,we developed the photocatalytic materials T-ziF-8-TDI(thermally treated-ziF-8-toluene 2,4-diisocyanate)by modifying ziF-8 with thermal oxygen sensitization and chemical *** results show that the yield of T-ziF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent is increased to 11.5 times of that of T-ziF-8,while maintaining the crystal structure of T-ziF-8 and thermal stability up to 60℃.Furthermore,T-ziF-8-TDI exhibits extended optical response range to the nearinfrared region,significantly narrowed band gap,improved photogenerated elec tron-hole separation efficiency,reduced recombination rate,and excell.nt photocatalytic *** the concentration of antibacterial agent is 600 mg·l^(-1),the antibacterial rate of Escherichia coli(***)reaches 99.99%irradiated by visible light for30 min,and when the concentration of antibacterial agent is 200 mg·l^(-1),the antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus(***)reaches 99.99%irradiated by visible light for 25 *** also analyzed the reasons in detail from the aspects of bacterial species and antibacterial mechanism,and proposed the antibacterial mechanism of·O_(2)^(-)and h^(+)as the main active *** findings suggest that T-ziF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent has potential for use in self-cleaning of building exterior walls.

Oxidation resistant low-alloyed Ti alloys with good ductility

Oxidation resistance enhancement of pure Ti often comes at the cost of reduced ductility,which is frequently the problem through alloying with sole Al,Si,W,Mo and *** overcome the short coming of single element alloying,this paper proposes a multi-element low-alloying strategy to take advantage of synergistic effects and resolve the conflict between oxidation resistance and *** demonstrates that the addition of a small quantity of Ta(0.51wt%)can boost both oxidation resistance and ductility in comparison to pure ***,the combined addition of a small amount(0.54 wt%)of Ta,nb and Si not only preserves good ductility of pure Ti,but also reduces mass gains to 14%-67%of pure Ti during 100 h oxidation at 650-850℃in *** indicates even better oxidation resistance than that obtained through the use of Ta,nb,or nb+Ta *** Ta+nb+Si alloying creates an oxide layer that is less porous and more resistant to stratification and ***,a 3-μm n-rich layer can form in the Ti substrate beneath the oxide scale,in which phase transformation generates coherent Ti_(2)n with(0001)_(Ti)as the habit pl.ne,with n atoms prefers to diffuse al.ng■than al.ng[0001]_(Ti).The completely transformed Ti_(2)n region or partially transformed Ti+Ti_(2)n region can effectively impede oxygen ***,the multielement low-alloying strategy is promising for enhancing both oxidation resistance and mechanical properties of metallic materials in the future.

Reinforcing oxygen electrocatalytic activity via selective dualphase heterointerface engineering for rechargeable Zn-air batteries
